Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

Hi mates,
Just relaxing to Louis Armstrong in the Top of the World lounge at Bay Lake Towers. Great job to the losers last week. Not exactly keeping to Weight Watchers points plus but I am leaving food on the plate because I am satisfied and do not want to feel stuffed walking through the parks.

And Stinasmom, how was the cruise? Great job on losing the vacation weight!!

Hello All...
Popping in and introducing myself, I just joined this challenge today and am very excited to have some support on this journey.

My name is Amy , I am 30somthing and have been battling my weight all my life. I really need to lose 100-120lbs. As I get older it is harder to carry the weight "well" I am starting to feel run down and have pains I never had before.

I am hoping to lose 50lbs before August 17th....

Oh and I am on Team Mickey!

thanks
AmyB

WELCOME!! Things move quickly here, but don't worry about keeping up... just read what you can!

NSV alert!

Last week I went in for an annual exam IYKWIM, and they did a cholesteral check. My doctor warned me ahead of time that it would be high since it wasn't a fasting check, and not to freak if the number was above 200.

Well, today the letter came in the mail and my number was 184, just about 20 pts. less than last year. :yay:

GREAT NUMBER!!

Today ended up being a calmity of error from sunup to sundown. The good news is that it is over and nothing too bad happened. Tomorrow is a new day and is sure to be better.

Wow! Great job exercising after dinner tonight and doing so much! :goodvibes Your veggies for breakfast sound yummy. I was wondering what would work for veggies for breakfast when I was looking at a SB suggested menu. Broccoli for breakfast would be an adjustment for me. ;)

And I agree with Rose -- get some new shoes so you don't get foot problems. :flower3: I see a lot of clearance shoes as the seasons are changing -- maybe an online coupon or a WISH discount? You are so worth it! :thumbsup2

I actually eat veggies for breakfast about 3-4 days per week. Whenever I have eggwhites, I always add sauteed veggies.... usually spinach cause its easy and quick... but I often try to save a bit of my evening veggies for the morning. Tonight I saved a bit of my salmon to add to my egg whites. Broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower, onions, tomatoes.... all frequently find their way to my breakfast plate!

I didn't get to my usual "shoe bargain" store today, so no new shoes yet. I didn't want to run in the ones that are causing my ankle to hurt, so I wore a spare "around the house" pair for today's workouts! Maybe I'll get out tomorrow if I don't work.

QOTD Tuesday 4/5/11 Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, It's Off to Lose Weight We Go! (recycling from the last BL Challenge -- it's good for the environment!) If you were one of the seven dwarfs, which one would you be today -- Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, Doc, Sneezy, Bashful or Dopey?

Well.... since I've been up since 5 am, right now it would be Sleepy. Mid-day... probably Dopey and Bashful (as I've mentioned, I very shy).

pjlla - I think your osmosis got lost on the way!! LOL

I woke up at 7:58 this morning!! We have to leave at 8:00! We managed to get out of the house in 15 minutes but DS10 was late for school. It was easier to skip dropping him off first so DS9 wasn't late. Then back to the public school to drop DS10 off late and DD5 off on time.
I've been running late all day because of it. So, I'm headed up to bed now and see if I can catch up on some sleep.

Have a good morning everyone! I'll pop back in soon.

Oh well... I honestly was thinking of you early this morning! I told DD that I was wishing I had your cell number so I could text you to see if you were up and moving. Now I REALLY wish I did! Sorry you overslept and threw your day off.

Good morning! Have I mentioned what a poor choice it was to have gluten last week. I still have a stomach ache--not all the time, but a lot of the time. It's a little better every day, but still frustrating. The good news is I might kick these last couple of pounds to the curb, cause I just can't eat very much right now. There's a great weight loss strategy for you.:rotfl: My knee was sore when I went to bed last night, but feels good this morning. The best it has felt after seeing the chiropractor. I'm going to try to run on Wednesday. It's going to be in the 70s so I am going to the park! So exciting.

I might go get new shoes tonight. I think I am going back to my old blue running shoes--I think they are saucony. The ones I have now have some bad mojo and I think they might be part of the problem.

Have a great day everyone!:goodvibes

I didn't realize that the effects of the gluten lasted so long! Feel better.

Glad you have some nice weather to try another run this week.

good morning everyone! i didn't log on last night and decided to just relax and watch tv after DS went to bed. the doctor's visit went well! i had an u/s and we got to see and hear the heartbeat. i'm measuring exactly what i thought i would be (6 weeks) and my due date is november 25th. oh boy! here we go!

anyway, so i'm pregnant. like for real! lol. i still can't believe it. but i guess god works in mysterious ways and things happen for a reason!
 Yeah for good news!! CONGRATS!! I was thinking of you often yesterday.

I like that you always persevere, Deb, no matter how busy you are and no matter what is going on with your life. You never give up! :thumbsup2 I also remember what a good friend you were to Pamela last year when her DH was in the hospital! :flower3:

You are SO RIGHT... She was a fabulous friend! I will truly NEVER forget it either!!

On a brighter note -- I went to the Y last night and did a 30+ minute session on the treadmill. I did intervals of walk 4/jog 1. It ended up including 5 1-minute jogging intervals (very slow) and one 2 minute jogging interval. I cannot believe how much I have lost but my knee doesn't hurt excessively today from the workout. The real problem is that it doesn't bend right and you need it to do that when you run - I can't keep it in that constantly somewhat bent position that you need to run smoothly, so I have a very strange gait. And that kind of hurts my hip. But I am grateful that I worked up the courage to give it a try and that I was able to do the entire 30 minutes.

I also did lots of work on the leg press and realized I have lost a lot of quad strength - 3 sets of 10 reps at 140 lbs for both legs and 3 sets of 10 reps at 80 pounds for my left (bad) leg. I am looking forward to watching it improve.

Nice workout!!

Finally Back to normal here :)

Spent all last week on a WDW vacation (Family in town) then had internet issues due to the nasty storms so finally back to normal here-

Missed everyone especially when the battles ensued over my lack of eating when my family was here over how I was trying to show them up and embarrass them due to me not eating a 2-3 course meal (x 3 a day) and 3-4 snacks between the meals... I did end up eating more than I wanted but it kept the battles at bay :(

Soo glad to be back to my routines and hopefully the scale will start being my friend and not my foe again :)

-em

Sorry that things were tough with the family. Once or twice I've had the feeling that other folks in the (extended) family felt like I was trying to make them look bad when I weigh/measure my foods or avoid certain things.... but you know what.... THAT IS ABOUT THEM.... NOT YOU!! Obviously they are having issues with THEMSELVES with how they are eating. It is just being reflected in you.... so let that reflection bounce off of you, like a mirror... and continue to do what you know is right for YOU.

Congratulations to all of our Big Losers!

Hi all! Hope you're having a good day.

Not a lot going on over here today. I'm working on my water and in about 20 minutes I'll be headed to the gym for my hour walk on the treadmill :headache: I'll be glad when it's over.

Tonight we're having pasta primavera for dinner, it's a new vegetarian recipe I found with smoked gouda, so I'm excited to try it. DH, a meat-eater, isn't so much but he's a good sport and will eat anything I make. I'm barely a meat eater, I tend to prefer hamburgers and hot dogs, otherwise I think I could live on salad all my life :rotfl:
:

Care to share the recipe? If so, please post it on the BL recipe thread and let us know when you do!!

I can't begin to tell you how much that meant to me. I really needed that tonight. :)

So glad I could help! I meant every word.

******Evening friends! So sorry that this is my first chance to hop on here today!

I got in a double workout today, so I'm happy with that..... 45 minutes of WATP at 5:15 this morning and 75 minutes at the Y tonight. Plus a full day of grocery shopping and running errands (after Bible Study) and putting away groceries.... crazy day!

I'm keeping up with the SB Phase 1 the best I can. I am really missing my fruit. I've been snacking on my usual carrots, but trying not to go crazy with them since they are a higher carb vegetable. But I read the label on my usual morning hot beverage tonight and discovered it is only 2 carbs per serving!! So I had a cup tonight....MMMM... so good! I've missed it over the past few days.... nice treat.

Well..... getting sleepy and the alarm is set for 5 again! Buffy.... you with me tomorrow morning?? I'll be thinking of you!

Talk to you all tomorrow (not scheduled to work yet, but they might call).....................P

Congratulations to all our superstars and especially to our Biggest Loser, stinasmom! :cool1: Your win is even more impressive considering that you just returned from a long vacation! :goodvibes

This is a quick post to do the QOTD for tomorrow. I will be back in the morning to do replies.

Continuing the back to basics theme, let's talk about EXERCISE. Here is an excerpt from a sparkpeole article about exercises excuses written by a certified personal trainer:

We all know how important exercise is to our health. We all know we should be doing it, but we allow ourselves “outs” with what we consider justifiable excuses. You can excuse yourself out of anything if you keep listening to yourself long enough. You can let those rationalizations make sense if you try. But I have come to a personal conclusion, a motto of sorts: I will do what I need to do, in order to do what I want to do.

Here is a link to the whole article if you are interested. http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/motivation_articles.asp?id=1021

Which leads me to the QOTD Weds 4/6/11 What exercise excuse do you use most often?

-- I don't have time
-- I'm too tired
-- It's too difficult for me
-- It's boring
-- I don't want people to see me
-- I don't know what I'm doing
-- I don't make any of these excuses

Have a great evening all! :goodvibes

PMing now!!!! You need it for WDW anyway!

Oh, heck!! All of the above but mostly I'm too tired and I don't have time.
Usually I am tired but I know if I work out I'll have more energy. Or I will at least not be anymore tired then I was before I worked out.

As for the no time. Load of garbage!! I have time to surf the web, I have time to work out. I just need to tell myself that! LOL

I would like an all of the above option too. Lately though its laziness.

Good Tuesday morning Teams

I fell asleep about 9 last night and got a pretty good night sleep. What a crazy day yesterday. My students are so involved with everything in the school that I am going to be missing some every day for the next two weeks. I just have to go with the flow. Breath in breath out REPEAT.

Hi mates,
Just relaxing to Louis Armstrong in the Top of the World lounge at Bay Lake Towers. Great job to the losers last week. Not exactly keeping to Weight Watchers points plus but I am leaving food on the plate because I am satisfied and do not want to feel stuffed walking through the parks.

Bay Lake Towers is the place I want to stay when I retire. I can't afford a full week but two nights. I do want MK view

I got most of my taxes done last night. I went on my laptop, plugged in some earphones and listened to DW music to keep me calm. Taxes went pretty good but I still have to go back and look at one deduction I did not take. I have to check over the boys and then we can send them out by Friday.

Saturday I need to start to take my family room apart. Dh will be paiinting the room during spring break and it will be easier if we take everything down before then. So that is my job for next week. we have 4 bookcases and a curio cabinet with a lot of beautiful Disney stuff in it. Lot of bubble wrap

I have to go get breakfast and get my day started. Will be back later

Have a happy and healthy day.

Lindsay--where are you???:goodvibes

Congrats to all the Losers and Maintainers this week--and everyone who is still here.:goodvibes
Can you even imagine what 1158 pounds looks like?????

Jeanette--I hope you liked the band.:goodvibes And here is my unsolicited advice--please feel free to ignore me.:thumbsup2 As for the food and DF--if there is one thing I have learned after being married 23 years it's that I can only change myself. I can't make Mike do anything--and I have tried!:thumbsup2 Hang in there, and hopefully as you continue to model good behavior, some of it will rub off. Having said that, I think it's completely ok to say--"please don't offer me food treats or buy me food treats. This is important to me, and I don't want to sabotage myself with bad choices."

Congratulations to all the LOSERS!!!! Woohoo! And even more congratulations to everyone who keeps "showing up", even when it is tough and the scale is not going in the right direction. I know that personally, I NEED the posts by those who are not losing just as much as the posts of those who are succeeding. We are all in this for the long haul. :grouphug:

BTW, I am SOOO relieved to be on a losing trend again and am really hoping to be a loser again this week. ;) Thank you, so much, everyone for the support and encouragement I find here, even when I am lurking and not posting much. I am really excited to be our coach starting Friday.
Glad you are losing again! And ITA with the bolded part. Even at maintain, I need the reminder that sometimes things don't go the way I want them to and that other folks are in the same boat but we are all still moving forward.:goodvibes

Nicole :flower3:
That recipe sounds great!

the hardest time for me is when I get home or am home alone while hubby works nights...:scared1:
Feel free to come on and post when you want to snack at night. Sometime writing down what I want to eat is enough to keep me from eating it!:goodvibes

Thank you so much, Rose! No, squats and lunges and kneeling are so extraordinarily painful or, sometimes, impossible to do. It is very discouraging. And I can feel the tendon (or ligament? I can never remember which) sliding across my knee if I bend it when it is not perfectly aligned. It makes the most awful clicking sound. It's pretty depressing. But I'm not going to think about what I can't do right now. I'll take improvement any way I can get it, as quickly or slowly as it takes. As long as I am improving I will remind myself to feel gratitude and perseverance. Being grateful I can walk doesn't mean I shouldn't aspire to do more than that, right? :cloud9: Someday, I even hope to be able to do this --> :yay: again and a lot more of this --> :cool1: :)
It's so humbling when your body doesn't do what you want it to do! I hope you can :yay: again soon! When my knee was at it's worst I could feel the itb rubbing on the bone. It was so painful and so icky! I really NEED to do some squats and lunges because trying on one pieces was not a pretty site. I wear a bikini bottom that's cut like a boy short and it's cute. Hides some stuff that needs to be hidden.:thumbsup2 The one piece bottom has some issues with flab in areas where it is just not attractive! I will definitely be heading back to strength for some major glute work when my knee is better!:goodvibes

CC--hope you found your Happy dwarf. :)

Have fun Dave! Just jump back on the wagon as soon as you get back.

The longer I'm off gluten, the worse I feel when I have it. And it might have been worse this time since it was liquid gluten:rotfl:--beer. Great job on the workouts and hang in there on the SB. It really makes you appreciate sweet things like fruit doesn't it? By the end of phase 1 almonds tasted sweet to me!

Have a great evening all! :goodvibes
Thankfully, the biggest problem I have with exercise is I overdo it sometimes!

Last year I adopted a philosophy (I know some of you already have heard this) that I would schedule weekly workouts and then unless I was really sick, I had to go for at least 5 minutes. If after 5 minutes I wanted to quit I could. In a year I only quit one time that I can remember. I was exhausted and we were flying the next day. And I think there were only a handful of times that I took the day off completely when I had scheduled exercise--and honestly, I do not take enough days off so that was a good thing too. Since the knee injury I am taking more days off--but I still schedule my exercise and try really hard to stick to it. I look at exercise as something I have to do, period. Like brushing my teeth or getting a shower. It's just part of my day.

Oh, heck!! All of the above but mostly I'm too tired and I don't have time.
Usually I am tired but I know if I work out I'll have more energy. Or I will at least not be anymore tired then I was before I worked out.

It's so much harder when you have kids and their schedules. But I agree, I used to say I'm too tired, but I always have more energy when I exercise!

UGH!!!! Splitting headache this morning! Got up at 5:30 and read a bit more of Kingdom Keepers 4. Took an allergy pill and ibuprofen but that hasn't helped yet. Now I'm trying a cup of tea! I'll be getting in a long walk with Redwalker this morning so I'll get in my workout then. Going to do a few hills on the walk!!

QOTD: My excuse is usually too tired. Most days I just get the workout in later in the day. Of course, the headache is my excuse today! But I will walk later!

TTFN :tigger:

I had an interesting night last night. I went to get fitted for new shoes. My chiropractor was kind of on the fence about whether the shoes I was running/working out in could be causing my problem since I had been fitted for them and that he could see that I pronate a little. BUT interestingly enough when I first saw him he looked at my shoes and made a comment that by the wear pattern it looked like I was suppinating (sp?). Since I had been fitted he kind of let it go and figured it was a funny wear pattern.

So, the girl brought out neutral shoes to videotape me running in to see where I was at. I brought my last three pairs of running shoes in for her to look at. Anyhow--no pronation in the neutral shoes. None. She taped me three times. The nikes I ran the princess in were for moderate+ pronation--which guess what the correction did--tweaked my leg out which led to itbs!

Clearly in the past you could see the pronation. It was very obvious. I asked how pronation could go away and she said well I'm not sure unless you've had a major change--like if you lost a lot of weight!!!! OMG! Mike and I just looked at each other and started laughing. I guess what happened was originally I was pronating and the first two pairs worked great. When I got the third pair I did not get on the treadmill--well, I did but they didn't tape it. And it was asumed at that point that I pronated. So I stayed in the stability shoes. When I got back from Princess I hit that magic mile where my leg just couldn't do it anymore and the nastiness started. Thank goodness it did not happen during the race!

So the lesson in all this--get your shoes fitted and checked if you are doing any kind of repetitive exercise. The girl last night was so nice and patient with me. She could tell I was just in disbelief about the whole thing. I was so paranoid about buying shoes that would cause more problems. But I ran 4 or 5 times on the treadmill in two different pairs of shoes and I didn't even have a twinge in my knee! Nothing! So I guess Sunday when I put my old shoes on and my knee started tweaking, it really wasn't in my head. The old shoes only had about a 100 miles on them, but I donated them. She told me she didn't think I should wear them at all--not even for the elliptical.

Tonight Mike and I are going to the park, and I am really hoping to get in a couple of miles. I have no pain at all right now in my leg--unless I bump the bruises.:thumbsup2 So fingers crossed. I'll let you know how it goes!

Oh--almost forgot. Spring is finally here--hopefully for good! We only have 70s in our forecast for the next 7 days--I think there might even be an 80 or two! Woohoo! I am so tired of being cold!

I'm glad that you figured it out :cool1: I really hope that your problems are gone. I was wearing crocs to waitress in when I they first came out. They felt so squisy comfy on my feet. Over time my knees started really hurting me. I really thought I was going to have to have knee replacements or something. It dawned on me that my knee issues started around the time of the crocs. I went and got fitted for shoes to replace the crocs. Within a couple of weeks my knees were 100% better. It is amazing what the wrong shoes can do.

Can you even imagine what 1158 pounds looks like?????
It's about 5 people my size, and proabaly 9 people your size, rose. That is amazing.

Congratulations to all our top losers this week!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Good morning everyone. I never got on and posted yesterday, but I did read along. I was in a bit of a funk, not eating great, not feeling like exercising, and ds being fresh a lot this week, but I got up yesterday and said I need to change this. Ds was dilly-dallying and not getting ready for school, so I told him if he missed the bus, we were walking, I wasn't going to drive him, since it was my late day, and I was planning to run/walk. So he missed the bus, had a meltdown, and then we walked to school. It's just a mile, and once we left, he did stop being whiney, and after I went on my own for another 3.8 miles, and it felt really good to have done it. I need to keep it up. Even though I haven't lost much weight in the past year, I do feel healthier, and fitter than I have in a very long time.

Went out with old friends that i used to work with. It was nice to catch up with everyone. The girl who organized it is going through treatment for endometrial cancer, and she wanted to catch up with everyone. We were talking about how it's like a family, we've all worked at the hospital for most of our adult lives, and been through so much together. Funny to think when I started there all of their kids were young, and now many of them are talking about their grandchildren. When did we get here?

I did eat too much last night, had 2 breadsticks with olive oil, salad, and ordered the chicken broc, ziti, but only ate about 1/3 and brought the rest home and we'll have that for dinner tonight. Could have been better, but could have been way worst too. I was surprised to see no gain on the scale today, so I need to stay on track today.

Tuesday's qotd- I started grumpy, but ended up pretty happy, and really feel blessed. Today, started the same way, grumpy with a fresh boy, and happy when he got on the bus this morning.:rotfl2:

Wednesday qotd-I definitely use the exercise excuse that I'm too tired, or don't have the time, but like buffy, I have plenty of time to surf the dis, or play bejeweled blitz on facebook, so I certainly have the time, but I get lazy. I did say after the princess trip that I was going to run/walk 3-5 days a week, and have done 3 most weeks, but I think I need to make a plan like I had for the princess and write it all down, with some longer runs too. It's definitely easier to stick with a plan if it's written out. Hmmmm I'm hearing pjlla here.

Yesterday's HH- Deb-You are such an amazingly strong and generous woman. I am so impressed with how you handle everything that is thrown at you with grace and determination. It was so sweet for you to visit and support pamela last fall when her husband had his accident. You are truly a wonderful person.

Rose- I am so happy to hear about the shoes, and am so hoping that you are able to run without pain. :goodvibes

:hug:hugs to those who need them, and good wishes to everyone who needs the strength to make the right choices today.

Have a great day!!:)

oooo that sounds lovely. i could have used a picture though :) hope you're having a great time!! say hi to mickey for me!

Talk to you all tomorrow (not scheduled to work yet, but they might call).....................P

what is WATP? good for you on the double workout! nice!

oo and what is your low carb hot beverage of choice??

:goodvibes

this is so me. i'm the excuse queen. usually my excuse is that i'm too tired. lately though it's been that my stomach is really bothering me. which, i think is actually a good excuse but i've found myself feeling a little better and not jumping on the opportunity to get out and move. and then when i feel crummy again i think, "darn i should have moved earlier".

Last year I adopted a philosophy (I know some of you already have heard this) that I would schedule weekly workouts and then unless I was really sick, I had to go for at least 5 minutes. If after 5 minutes I wanted to quit I could.

i like this. i'm going to steal it ;)

TTFN :tigger:

i've never read the kingdom keepers. i wonder if i'd like it. i'm going to check to see if it's on the nook. how do you like the series?

Clearly in the past you could see the pronation. It was very obvious. I asked how pronation could go away and she said well I'm not sure unless you've had a major change--like if you lost a lot of weight!!!! OMG!

SO many things improve when you lose weight! isn't that strange? very cool!

It is amazing what the wrong shoes can do.

crocs are so comfy but i can't wear them for long periods of time. even a full day at the parks often leaves me with achy knees. so now i just wear my running shoes that i was fitted for even when i'm just going to be walking. keeps my body much happier. i do love my crocs though :)

***************

good morning everyone! the sun looks like it's trying to come out today. i'm so sick of this weather (i think i've said that in every post i've written!).

i ate pretty poorly yesterday - went to my aunt and uncle's for my cousin's 8th birthday. we had round steak chop, mashed potatoes and gravy, biscuits and bread, carrots and mixed veg. doesn't sound too bad but add the big piece of cake as well as the little waffle bowl with fruit and whipped cream and it was alot. and i paid for it last night. my stomach has just not been right for the last 2+ weeks. my OB gave me a chewable prenatal that i took yesterday. it tastes exactly like a fish biscuit. gross. well, i spent 3+ hours in the middle of the night in the bathroom. and this morning i feel terrible. i think i should maybe go to a regular doctor? i wonder if you can have pregnancy-induced IBS?

ok, enough gross talk. i'm making pjilla's crockpot "roasted" chicken with carrots and potatoes tonight. DH is at the airport now getting ready to go to jacksonville for the night. my friend is coming up and will probably spend the night so i think the chicken dish will be nice for us.

have to feed the kiddo and get ready for mommy and me class.

have a lovely wednesday :)

Nancy- Love the Kingdom Keepers series! Ashleigh and I are fighting it out for reading time! She took it to school today so she can get ahead of me again! I swear we will finish it this weekend! She read for 90 minutes last night in bed! I went to get it and she was still reading! She got lost in reading it and lost track of time! I'm on page 111. She was on page 101 when she left this morning!

Heading down to do some work downstairs before Redwalker gets here. Headache is gone though I just fixed myself another cup of tea that I will drink while working downstairs.

Just printed out my coupons for grocery shopping this afternoon after the dentist appt and before dancing!

TTFN :tigger:

Good morning all! :goodvibes

Thanks for the chuckle! I think there are days when we all feel like every dwarf!! Wouldn't it be nice if we all felt like Snow White too :flower3:

Isn't that the truth? ::yes::

Hope that your spinning class went well last night. I'm sure that you are getting stronger! :goodvibes

Oh, and I have to comment that you have a great birthdate. ;) I'll definately be remembering your birthday this year!

Not Sleepy (thanks to the 2 cups of coffee I just drank).

I would have to go with Happy. I am Happy because for 2 reasons.

Reason 1: I have recently started a new phase of my life. The huge, global law firm that I have worked for as a graphic designer for the past 8 years has dissolved. As of March 31st, they no longer exist. I am taking this opportunity to change the course of my life. Instead of getting a job at another law firm or legal consulting firm, I have decided to stay at home with my little girls. This has been a very liberating/terrifying decision. I know it will be difficult, but I am excited to get to spend time with my daughters. I am very happy with my choice and am looking forward to the challenges and joys it will bring.

Reason 2: It is a fantastic feeling to put on pants and they are too big. I have not had to buy new clothes because I have lost weight in a very very very long time. And I actually look forward to that shopping trip.

Those are the reasons that I am Happy this morning.

Congratulations on the new phases in your life, Matt! :thumbsup2 You can always work but you can never get back this time with your girls. And new clothes are always fun!

I feel like I'm going to struggle just to maintain this week, the scale is all over the place!!! Last week I finally made it to 139 :cool1: - but it's been back up over 140 again - hopefully in another week (or two), I will be out of the 140's for good!!! Have a great day!

Glad to hear that your spring cleaning is done -- I love that feeling! :hippie: You are working so hard it will be no time until you are in the 130's for good!

-em

Glad that you had a nice visit with your family, Em, even if they weren't OP with your plan. It's hard when the people that love you the most don't get it.

Today I'd say I'm Happy.

1). I don't have as much to do to finish this class as I had orginally thought.
2). Its a beautiful day outside
3). Its warming up after being chilly the last few days
4) I'm 41 days from my next Disney trip!

Glad that you are having a good week! :flower3:

We then went to Disneyland afterwards to have dinner. I gotta say, the new menus they have put into place are definitely an improvement.

Hi Jeanette! :wave2: Glad that you had a good time at DL. I'll have to check out the new menus because that is one area where DL lags behind WDW -- the food department.

What Rose tells you about DF's eating is spot on. ::yes:: You probably have more influence over him now than you will the rest of your lives but it is ultimately up to him to decide to do something and actually do it.

Well said, Cam! ::yes::

Thanks to Rose&Mike, mikamah, mommyof2pirates and corinnak the QOTD archive thread is all updated and ready to go if you, or any of our upcoming coaches, need it. :flower3:

Not a lot going on over here today. I'm working on my water and in about 20 minutes I'll be headed to the gym for my hour walk on the treadmill :headache: I'll be glad when it's over.

Good job getting out there even when it is something that you don't particularly enjoy. :thumbsup2

Great job to all the losers and the maintainers...:cool1:

so far today so good, but then again it's my first day

Glad that you had a good first day! :goodvibes Evening is the "witching hour" for me too.

BRB with the rest of the replies.

i wonder if you can have pregnancy-induced IBS?

I don't know medically, but when pregnant with my 2nd DD, I had the same issue. (I saw the inside of some bathrooms I am still trying to erase from my memory!!!:scared1:) Hope your tummy feels better soon, it's no fun to feel like you can't go too far from home!!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Today the scale was moving in the right direction - yeah!
QOTD: I use all these excuses and more!! But since I haven't missed exercising (except Sunday, which I plan to take off) since I got my Walk at Home DVD, I am feeling the benefits and (almost) starting to look forward to my workout each morning. Have a great day everyone!!!

No need to bough out, skimming is perfectly fine. I'm in the middle of tax season and hop on when I can. Usually it's only once or twice a week, but it's good to read up and keep motivated :goodvibes

It's all downhill now with tax season, Sue! :goodvibes

Hi mates,
Just relaxing to Louis Armstrong in the Top of the World lounge at Bay Lake Towers. Great job to the losers last week. Not exactly keeping to Weight Watchers points plus but I am leaving food on the plate because I am satisfied and do not want to feel stuffed walking through the parks.

And Stinasmom, how was the cruise? Great job on losing the vacation weight!!

Glad that you are having a great time! :goodvibes Enjoy the sunshine!

But I read the label on my usual morning hot beverage tonight and discovered it is only 2 carbs per serving!! So I had a cup tonight....MMMM... so good! I've missed it over the past few days.... nice treat.

Go, Pamela, go! :cheer2:

Oh, heck!! All of the above but mostly I'm too tired and I don't have time.
Usually I am tired but I know if I work out I'll have more energy. Or I will at least not be anymore tired then I was before I worked out.

I use them all but mainly the tired and time excuses, too, Buffy. ::yes:: I am better about it but it takes a long time to adjust that old mindset.

Sounds like a big job, dona. What color are you painting your family room?

Tracey, hope the headache goes away soon! :flower3: Tell redwalker "hello."

Rose, I'm so happy that you may have solved the ITBS mystery. You were already on the road to recovery but this will help even more. Just one thing . . . don't overdo it. :goodvibes

Kathy, sorry about the funk. You've done wonderfully with your exercise this year. You are much stronger and happier. :cool2:

Nancy, so sorry about the tummy troubles. I think that you would like Kingdom Keepers considering your job.

aamomma, glad that you found an exercise that you enjoy -- that is the key! :thumbsup2

Have a great day all!

Great job to all the losers and the maintainers...:cool1:

so far today so good, but then again it's my first day

had classroom observations this am (working on my master's in education) and instead of hitting up a drive through for breakfast i brought a banana (80cal), a granola bar ( 80cal) and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich ( 330 calories) and made that last for breakfast and lunch

a snack of some hummus (40cal) and half a naan (190) so I am doing a-ok

the hardest time for me is when I get home or am home alone while hubby works nights...:scared1:

We all need to start somewhere so I give you a great big CONGRATS on having the courage to START! Whenever you need support, hop on the boards here ;)

Hi all,

I had two chicken salad roll ups for supper. I should be fine with the calories as I believe I was under 600 for the day up until then. I'm still working on my water and am headed down to do the elliptical at 8. I'm sending Brian to pick up the girls at dancing. Of course he didn't think I was serious when I first said it! I need a night off from the driving around. I have to work Thursday night so he can do the running around tonight.

Anyone up for my Tuesday night challenge? 2-3 miles depending on how the first 2 go.

I have the day off tomorrow so I will do some work around here in the morning until Redwalker and Luna get here for our morning walk. I think we'll do some hills in the morning!

I ordered Ash's sewing machine this afternoon. It should be in next week. I renewed my insurance for massage this afternoon. Girls are going to get a jump start on dancing the month of August by taking a 4 week Irish step class. I also may sign them up for a week of tennis if they are interested. It's an evening class so it will be a good end to their day.

Need to clean up a bit before heading down for BL! Have a great night!

TTFN :tigger:

I took your challenge for Tuesday night and spun my little heart out!! Irish Step Dancing is so cool! I hope the girls enjoy the class.

Hi mates,

Jellybeans!! I am sooo jealous! Post some pictures please for those of us who are Mickey-starved....I'm sure the view is just AMAZING! Great will power too!

-- I'm too tired
-- It's too difficult for me
-- It's boring
-- I don't want people to see me
-- I don't know what I'm doing
-- I don't make any of these excuses

Have a great evening all! :goodvibes

I AM LAZY...but only sometimes. If I don't go to the gym directly from work I am a gonner! I think Rose said it best...exercise is a part of life like showering and brushing your teeth. I'm striving to get to that point but I am not quite there yet...

I feel your pain about the kids being busy...this morning about half of my Juniors are taking the National Spanish Exam...just crazy busy for many of them. Congrats on getting the taxes done. They seem to get more complicated every year! I love to paint my house! Did you pick a color yet?

Rose that is actually great news! It's really curious how a pair of shoes can really effect other parts of your body! I hope the park went well last night :thumbsup2

oooo that sounds lovely. i could have used a picture though :) hope you're having a great time!! say hi to mickey for me!

YAY! Congrats on the scale and on feeling so great about your workouts!

****
Happy Wednesday! The sun is out and my leg is feeling the best it has ever felt (since the surgery). I ended up going to spin class last night and really pushed myself. I burned 617 calories in 50 minutes!! AND my leg didn't need to be iced after! Although by butt is really paying the price for my added effort :headache: I was going to hop on the scale since I did so well for the past 2 days but I decided to hold off until Monday...hoping that would encourage me to make the entire week a good one!

Chicken with brown rice and green beans last night for dinner really hit the spot. I'm thinking tilapia tonight after the gym. I gave up ice cream for Lent and it has really been killing me. I'm going to wait for Sunday to see if I really need it...but I think I will :) Baking cookies for my nephew for my weekend visit tomorrow night....now if I can only stop myself from eating the batter....

Enjoy the day and make great choices!

Lindsay--where are you???:goodvibes

Im here Rose. Sorry I have just been super busy lately with work and home stuff, plus trying to get my runs in and finding time to relax too. I have been not going on the computer at night just to get everything done. Thanks for thinking of me.

I had an interesting night last night. I went to get fitted for new shoes.

Wow that is crazy. Its amazing what the wrong pair of shoes can do. I hope your run goes really well tonight.

Good morning everyone. I never got on and posted yesterday, but I did read along. I was in a bit of a funk, not eating great, not feeling like exercising, and ds being fresh a lot this week, but I got up yesterday and said I need to change this.

Good for you Kathy! Its all about making a fresh start, even if we have to do that daily.;)

good morning everyone! the sun looks like it's trying to come out today. i'm so sick of this weather (i think i've said that in every post i've written!).

I will second that! and I know I keep saying it too. I am getting tired of hearing myself.:lmao:

Have a great night with your friend! I hope your belly feels better soon.

*****************************************************

Life has gotten in the way of my dis time.:rotfl2: Something had to give so I am just trying to check in and read when I can without stressing out over it.

I ran 5 miles on monday and it was great running weather. I had a tshirt and pants on and I was actually hot.:thumbsup2 It was my 1st run past 3 miles since the princess. I need to get going considering my next half is may 1st. I would have to say the 5 miles was glorious yet painful. I could really feel the weakness in my legs from not running consistently for awhile, I also had a side sticker for about the first 2 miles. But once I finished it felt so good. I am glad I got back out there! I am planning to run again tonight probably 3 miles and then 7 this weekend. Eating has been good too.:thumbsup2 I also started doing my strength plans and did them 2 nights in a row so thats progress.

Today is my youngest sons bday. Nicholas is 4 today. I made cupcakes last night for him to take to daycare. I saved 4 for us tonight to sing him happy birthday but my parents are now coming too so I think I will try to pawn my cupcake off on my dad.:rotfl2:

Ok not sure if you care but here is why I may not be on here much over then next few days.

Thur- work/tball practice 545-7
Fri- Im off! Nick and I are going to his new school for a tour at 10, Check up for nick at 1120, Lunch w/ nick for bday, P/U ryan 130, Visit my friend who will be watching Ry during the summer for him to meet her and see her house, then we have family pics at 6. We have to then go to the mall and get ryan his tball pants.
Sat- 10am opening ceremonies for little league, 12 team pics, 1 tball game, 330 nicks bday party.
Sun- 7 mile run!!!!

It makes me stress just to think about all that I need to get done. uggh...by the way did anyone else know it is National Stress Awareness Month in April?

I am fully aware that I am stress:lmao:

Have a great evening all! :goodvibes

"I don't have time!" If I don't get my workouts done in the morning, the day will often "get away from me".

PMing now!!!! You need it for WDW anyway!

Got it and replied!!

Don't be too hard on yourself for spending time on the DIS (primarily the WISH board). If you were getting up and showering and dressing to attend a WW meeting or to meet with a JC consultant or something like that, it could easily take up two hours of your day!! I kind of try to consider the time I spend here to be my WW meeting. But that said, I try hard to limit my WISH board time to an hour a day tops!! But it is so easy to get sucked into sitting here much longer!

YUp..... BREATHE!! You'll feel better!!

TAXES done!! Good job not procrastinating until April 14th!!

What color??

I'm sure your bootie looks great!!!

I'm not usually a big nut eater because they are so caloric....but I've been enjoying the "treat" of a few almonds lately....also bought some cashews yesterday. DS is allergic to tree nuts, so I rarely have them around.... but I keep them away from the rest of the food.

Yup..... I can't even tell myself "if" you exercise today..... It has to be "when"!!

I have tried to adopt your 5 minute plan a few times when I've been tempted to talk myself out of a workout....and sure enough, once I've got my gear on and the TM set up, I can usually manage to talk myself into a minimum of 30 minutes.

It's so much harder when you have kids and their schedules. But I agree, I used to say I'm too tired, but I always have more energy when I exercise!

I am thrilled to hear this!!!! It is such an EASY solution!!! No surgery, no meds....just new shoes!! You are pushing me to make SURE I make time TONIGHT to try to find a new pair myself!!

It has always amazed me to see people walking around in Crocs. I've never found them very comfortable. And I truly don't think that they are "healthy" footwear. GLad your knees got better!! (That said, I've got mine on right now.....needed something quick to slide on to wear to the dump this morning!! )

You are DEFINITELY healthier and more fit!! You did a stinkin' half marathon for Pete's sake!!!:yay:

Nice job on sticking with the "punishment" for DS. And I'm sure that the walk helped him get calmer and made his entire day better.....and his teacher should be thanking you!! Couldn't do that here as the middle school is about 8 miles away!!

Glad you got a chance to catch up with friends!! That kind of thing is so important for our mental health. And you made a good choice in taking home so much of your meal.

Yup.....the "P" in my user name should stand for "PLAN"! (And maybe the double "L" for "long lists"!);)
Yesterday's HH- Deb-You are such an amazingly strong and generous woman. I am so impressed with how you handle everything that is thrown at you with grace and determination. It was so sweet for you to visit and support pamela last fall when her husband had his accident. You are truly a wonderful person.

I second that!!

what is WATP? good for you on the double workout! nice!

"Walk Away The Pounds" by Leslie Sansone. Just a series of "walk" aerobic videos. Been around for many years and still relevant!!

and what is your low carb hot beverage of choice??

Almost embarrassed to admit what it is..... kind of a weird concoction I created!! And I definitely don't rank it up there as particularly "healthy" because of the artificial sweeteners and "frankenfood" ingredients.... but it is my one "bad habit" holdout!

1 heaping spoonful each of General Foods Suisse Mocha and French Vanilla Cafe International Coffees (sugar free and decaf), 2 heaping spoonfuls of Benefiber (helps reduce the points of the coffee from 2 to 1....and helps with other things as well ;) ), and half tsp of decaf instant coffee.

Kind of like a mocha/latte/cocoa/coffee/cappucino combo.

ok, enough gross talk. i'm making pjilla's crockpot "roasted" chicken with carrots and potatoes tonight. DH is at the airport now getting ready to go to jacksonville for the night. my friend is coming up and will probably spend the night so i think the chicken dish will be nice for us.

Hope it turns out good for you!!

Don't you love seeing your kids enjoy reading!!?? DS has just recently started reading for pleasure....and he can CONSUME a book if he really likes it!!

Good job!!

Go, Pamela, go! :cheer2:

Thanks!! Everyone needs their own personal cheerleader!!

WOOHOO on the leg!!!:woohoo:

Baking cookies for my nephew for my weekend visit tomorrow night....now if I can only stop myself from eating the batter....

OOOOhh... like I've said before..... cookie dough is my CRACK!! I'm impressed if you can resist!! What kind?Enjoy the day and make great choices!

*****Happy SUNNY Wednesday morning!! No work for me today!!

I've already used up my allotted one hour here, so I'll be quick.

My eggwhite and salmon omelet was good..... but I'm not a huge salmon fan, so I probably won't try it again soon. I'm actually more excited about the grey sole I have scheduled tomorrow night.

Schedule for today..... laundry, dishes, vacumming, bedmaking (sound familiar??), kid taxiing, dinner (make and clean up) a few errands tonight, etc etc. Already had a busy morning with a trip to the dump after dropping off DD, unload/reload dishwasher, breakfast/lunches, etc. But the day is FLYING by!!

I'm gonna run, but I'll try to hop on later..............P
