I really didn't like the new opening credits. The old ones were full of Mormon symbolism and really well done. . .this is just kinda' awkward.
Loved that Margene's business is taking off. Could not believe that Adaleen would send her daughter into the cooler to find. . .but then I thought, well, yes I can.
Alby and the receiver for the ULB. . . .That's all kinds of awkward. "Why yes, Bill, Alby and I know each other. . .there's a funny story there. See, he pretends he's a bird watcher and I pretend I'm jogging and. . .here's where it gets really good. . ."
So Tansy is away at camp? I bet she comes home totally changed by the experience.
Roman's white hat!
You can run but you can't hide, Bill. You are predestined to take over and restore your family's position as the inheritors of the Prophetship. Yep, you're pretty much fighting a losing battle on this one. On the other hand, we've gotten plenty of hints from Lois that when her father was prophet, the place wasn't nearly the pit it is now, (This jibes with the real RLDS politics, as I understand it.) it's possible that Bill could move Juniper Creek from wayyyyyy out there, theologically and politically, to just slightly out there. (I won't go further than that as I respect the religon ban - and I mean that quite seriously. I think it's a good rule, even if it keeps us from really hashing out Big Love. It's worth it. I can go elsewhere for those philosophical debates!)
Oh man, and Cara Lynn. I'm curious to see what she will turn out to be like - we just don't have enough information on her yet to know.
And I nearly fell out of my chair when Sarah told Barb that she and her husband were considering become UCC! Loved it. Barb's reaction was so spot dead on! (I was raised in a conservative Christian demonination/sect and moved to a quite progressive denom when I was Sarah's age. My mother's reaction was Barb's EXACTLY.
)
And those illegal birds Lois is trafficking in? What happens there? Although I thought that bit about the worthless ****s was a little heavy handed.
Finally, anyone want to place bets on how well the casino does? I can see the writers taking the story line one of two ways:
1. Smash hit, draws too much attention to Bill and his family.
2. Goes belly up. Margene supports the family, which would make Bill feel like an utter failure.
