Beyond confused with the FP System

Sorry meant MK not WDW.

It isnt supposed to happen like that but in affect it does when the FPs don’t fall off After “letting them expire”. Which for us is every time. I didn’t even know the other way was the intended way as it never happens for us.

Im honestly surprised Disney allows you to just miss two in tiered parks.
Disney doesn't care if you miss FP, why should they? We miss FP all.the.time! For tons of reasons. Even good ones. Blew off a FoP over Christmas just because we didn't feel like going to AK that day and stuck around the resort instead. I try to cancel them but sometimes we wait till the last minute and if the FP has already started, then it's too late to cancel them
1 less guest in the FP line that hour equates to their allowing 1 guest from Stand by that hour. (well, it's not THAT simple but general idea is close enough) It's not like that ride is going to go with an empty seat because you didn't use your FP. They just shift the numbers going in from each line according to whatever ratio they are using at that moment.

Yeah your right. I guess in my mind it left open possibility for abuse, but very very few would do that I guess.

There's just nothing to abuse. ADR sure. That means a seat goes empty in the restaurant. Unused FP mean nothing other than someone else didn't get the FP. It could be seen as rude to a fellow guest but it hurts Disney not at all.

WDW Management (that matters) don't read these fan forums so it means very little to them what terminology is used.

Point taken. Seems degrading to the shows etc for WDW to have a culture of fans out there who think this way - but I guess if we're a minority, won't matter much.

I guess I am stuck on what the purpose of the fast pass system is - which is for Disney to direct traffic control - if folks are tapping into attractions\shows & not attending them - I would think it would put a wrench in their purpose of the fast pass. But what do I know lol......

I'm not visiting until May & July - I hope they make Rise of the Resistance part of the normal fast pass system by then (for selfish reasons).

Seems to me they like the BP for RotR. Not sure they will end it anytime soon because it works effectively. I can see them doing other openings as FP attractions but this one appears to have a purpose and works for them.

Just curious, does WDW Mgmt care about the terminology of the word "throw away" to apply to their attractions? And if everyone is using this strategy, how is it helping crowd control/management and guest enjoyment?

I would guess a fraction of a percent of people at any given time think in these terms. The vast, vast majority of people just show up at the park and stand in lines. Look at FOP. People stand in line for 3 hours bc they just think they have to.

Do you think that Ratatouille and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Train will be fastpasses? I’m stressed about planning for May.

I think that once the demand for ROTR eases off some (who knows when that will be), they will want to add FP+ to it. The current system forces anyone who wants to experience the attraction to be at the park at opening, or within the first hour or so if they would be satisfied with a backup BG. That stresses the park opening procedure. I would think that they would prefer that arrivals at the park be spread out more over the course of the day, and FP+ can help do that.

Basic application:
If in one park that has tiers you must use one tier 1 and 2 tier twos before pulling another tier 1.
If crossing parks Tiers do not apply so you can pull tier 1 in multiple parks but you must use the one in park1 before making anything for park 2.
Example-This coming Monday on our 4 park Eride binge day ( We only do this once a year because we have APs and go a ton but we do this once a year for the fun of it), we have a 730AM for RNRC and we will do the following: Pull a boarding group for RotR, Do SDD(RD), TSM, FP for RNRC(1), and ToT, make it to Epcot by opening, RD FEA and on the way pull a Soarin(2) and Land(3).- so 2 parks, 2 tier 1 and 1 tier 2, but, we have now used our 3 and can pull anything at any park. So we will pull an SE(4), head back to Studios for the RotR Boarding Party and do Smugglers run and pull a FP for Star Tours(5) before heading to AK to pull a FP for FoP(6), do FoP and Safari, then pull and do EE(7), then Dinosaur(8) and Navi(9). Then we have after hours at MK but since we are AP Holders we will get in earlier and pull Splash(10), JC(11), HM(12)and do those in order since they eat time we dont want to take away from After hours. I figure we will go through12-15FPs and still have After Hours with no lines to knock out all we want in MK. We will likely use DAS twice- Once for Safari at AK and Once for Smugglers Run at Studios.
Very cool if you can pull it off, but I question your DHS morning since rope drop lines are swamped with the RotR boarding group frenzy. standby TSM and ToT before an Epcot RD?

We are going in May also. But I don't think Ratatouille will be open yet. Maybe it will be ahead of schedule!

I'm putting this into a spreadsheet to see if I can even figure out what it means, and if I can figure it out I'm going to see if we can do it this summer... Props

An update
here now and for the past 2 days I’ve let FP expire and had no issues booking a 4th
no tapping in or GS needed to intervene
Including booking additional Tier 1's? That's great! Thanks for the update!
