Beware the Seagulls

Yep. People feed them, and think it's cute, so of course them gulls are nothing but eating machines, so they get that MINE MINE MINE mentality, and go for anything they can get their claws on!!! I saw a bunch of them at MK yesterday, but not stealing food, everytime I see one, I think of the Nemo birds....MINE!! LOL

My daughter was pooped on last week Monday. There were a lot more seagulls at Magic Kingdom this trip.

Speaking of Flame Tree Barbeque ducks - my DH and I were sitting there for lunch with a bunch of ducks begging for food, of course we weren't giving them anything. Soon enough - a duck bit my DH in the A** - he wasn't too happy about it - it hurt.

We find humor in it now but I can't imagine if this were to happen to a child.

Those birds are out of control.

We were in WDW a few years ago in January and the seagulls kept swooping down in front of Mrs Potts in Fantasyland. My Mom had 2 ice cream cones get knocked by them! We were in line forever for ice cream b/c people kept coming back for new cones. We ended up sitting there for about 1/2 hour just watching the sea gulls dive bomb for food (...of course we tried to warn people!) The best was when one grabbed a Mickey Head right out of a woman's hand, at least she ate about 75% of it already! It came from behind and she never saw it coming!

The CM cleaning up all the ice cream on the sidewalk said it is worse in the winter, the sea gulls move inland from the coast.

Birdie, birdie in the sky,
Why'd you do that in my eye.
I won't hurt you or make you cry,
I'm just glad that cows don't fly.

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Thank you for that this morning.

This happened on one of our first trips, We were in Epcot eating a funnel cake, and a bird swooped down and stole a piece right out of our hands. Rats with wings, I tell ya :P

There will be one less gull in EPCOT if it tries to take my funnel cake! People feed them, despite the signs and common sense, so they get used to it. People do it at the beach too and then wonder why they end up getting dive bombed with gull pellets.

On my last trip to WDW I had a devious thought for dealing with the groups of people who insist on stopping in the middle of the walkway. I was thinking that a well placed handful of popcorn thrown in to the middle of the group would suffice. :cool1: He he!

They must not be on the dining plan.

If they're not on the dining plan, you shouldn't be sharing your food with them.:rotfl2:

My friends father had a turkey leg stolen out of his hand by one of those bandits. Apparently they're cannibals too!

At AK we bought pretzels at a kiosk and sat on a little rock wall nearby. Two ducks came over by us and stared at us the whole time we ate. I refused to feed them and kept telling them they picked the wrong lady! They got so close to us, it was amazing.

Also, early one morning I went out jogging around CBR. At the pool area, I felt something hit me in the middle of the shoulders! I turned around thinking someone threw something at me but didn't see anything. A few seconds later it happened agian and that's when I realized it was a bird! It was some sort of brown bird, and it was about the size of a crow. I figured that it must have been going after my pony tail, which was swishing back and forth on my shoulders! It was very scary at the time! :scared1:

Same experience here, just outside of Splash...except I was the recipient of said ketchup covered hot dog when the seagull dropped it and i had ketchup down the front of a brand new shirt. My friends thought it was hilarious. I was super annoyed! I was dived bombed by a seagull with a ketchuped hot dog!

My sister and I were in Seaworld in California as children and were both hit with seagull poop while watching the sea lions! That bird must have gotten extra points for hitting both of us with 1 poop!

We had a bad seagull experience last week while there but it had to do with the opposite end of the bird. Be VERY careful NOT to sit UNDER their sitting spot.

:happytv: This happened to my hubby in MK while on our honeymoon in december! He looks at me and says "Is there something on my back"? Me "Ummm YES" LOL

All over his new jacket! SO funny. Thank goodness DH is good natured :lmao:

Been there, done that...

On the trip before our last, my wife had bought a churro from a cart in Frontierland. She'd taken exactly one bite, when a seagull swooped in, plucked it from her hands, and flew away. This, after she had already been "targeted" by them for "whitewashing" at least once on each of our trips.

Needless to say, my wife loathes the things. :upsidedow

DD loves every living animal, bug, bird, fish known to man....except seagulls. She was walking slightly behind me at Epcot a few years ago, calmly eating her funnel cake when one swooped down, stole the funnel cake and bit her finger. The only reason I knew something happened was because a lady walking toward me saw the whole thing and was gesturing wildly at me. She had this look of horror on her face and I couldn't figure out why....DD was behind me winding up for the ear-splitting scream. We were right in front the DVC people and they came running out, took DH back to replace the funnel cake. On his way back to us ANOTHER one swooped down and knocked the whole thing out of his hands. So DVC reps took him back and got him ANOTHER funnel cake, which he promptly covered with a second plate before bringing it back to where we were waiting.

DD has hated seagulls ever since then.
We saw the same thing at Epcot with a funnel cake and an ice cream cone. I do not hate the Gulls, however they scare me when they seem to gang up.The movie The Birds comes to mind. I have had seen the worse at the boardwalk in Ocean City...they swarm upon you therepopcorn:::scared1:

:rotfl2: Dh had that problem in Epcot, I told him that in some cultures that is GOOD LUCK....it was a very magical trip :lmao:

We were attacked, and almost pooped on, by these guys this past month. We saw one guy getting his fish and chips and the bird swooped down at him and tried to steal his food. He actually missed getting some "special sauce" on his fish by about 6 inches.

This is why Disney has signs posted. "Do NOT Feed the Birds". I always see yahoos feeding the birds and then turn around and wonder why the birds are getting agressive.

We are very used to the Seagulls. We have a home in Ocean City, NJ and know just how aggressive those pesky birds are!! We know to either eat our food indoors or cover it so they just can't get to it. Yes, they WILL take the food right out of your hands. Happens all the time on our boardwalk in OC to those just leisurely walking around w/ food-unaware that there is trouble lurking up ahead!

DH and I were very surprised at just how many Seagulls we saw around, esp the MK and The Boardwalk.
Ahh, yes-I forgot to add just how many people we saw feeding the birds. It became a feeding frenzy! The best thing to do is to NOT feed the Seagulls!
