Beth's Journal-Bring It!

Beth:

We have been having the Comcast dropsies now for about a month. I think it has something to do with the digital cable and them pinging the boxes to update schedules. This hits the modem as well and your firewall router will shut them out thinking its an attack on your systems. With me trying to do my schooling online and communicate in realtime with my classmates whenever possible, this interruption in service is not just annoying - its making it difficult to get any schoolwork done...to reset our 3 boxes, I have to pull the power on the cable modem and then replug and turn the firewall box off and back on. Sometimes I have to reboot my laptop to get it see the network after that. This sometimes happens 4-6 times a day. The network is down every morning as well.

You sound like you have the party completely under control. Wish Katie a happy birthday from me and the kitties!

-Laurie

Hi Beth. I hope you are doing well and have good shifts at work. You sound very organized for your party. What fun for the kids. I better wish you a Happy Mother's Day:flower:now while I still have an internet connection. Take care and have a good weekend. :goodvibes

Hi Beth!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Mother's Day! :rose: Take care sweetie!

Beth:

We have just finally got to the bottom of the Comcast cable modem problem. They have upgraded systems in some areas (ours being one of them) that renders most cable modems obsolete in that the signals sent from Comcast makes them shutdown service. We opted to purchase our own modem instead of renting from Comcast - not that this would have been taken care of quickly by Comcast if we'd rented one from them - and now we will need a new modem if we don't want to have to reboot twice or more a day.

Comcast, of course, wants us to rent the modem from them. DH doesn't want to spend $3-5 a month on a rental. He's quite miffed that Comcast didn't let customers know of the modem problem up front and he's really mad that he's talked to customer support almost every night for the last month trying to get to the bottom of the problem. Comcast said that once all the upgrades are made across their network, then customers would be informed that their own equipment needed to be upgraded. They admit to not having enough cable modems to replace the bad ones they are renting to customers.

Have your DH look into the modem issue in your area...and hopefully you can get the problem solved as well.

Thanks Laurie, I'll have Won check it out.

Work last night was horrible. I had a crotchety old man who called me every name in the book. He even showed some creativity by calling me a f*&%&&* nazi. 12 hours of abuse is so much fun. They called to see if I wanted the night off, and I jumped at it. I've actually gotten sick again. Won and I have had a discussion. We've decided to cut my hours for the next schedule. I am only going to work Sunday and an 8 hour on Monday. Katie will be in day camp. I will have time to sleep before my Sunday shift, and I'll have Wed, THurs, Fri to myself. I will be able to rest, relax, and get caught up on a few things in the house. I can't tell you what a relief this is. We should be able to do this for 6-8 weeks. I may actually be able to get healthy again. Ever since the hepatitis last fall, my health has just been poor. I have been constntly sick and tired.

Ok, I am off to bed. Happy Mother's day everyone.

Beth

Happy Mother's Day! I hope work goes ok this weekend. Sounds like little Katie's Bday bash is gonna be a blast! Have fun!

Just wanted to stop by to say "hi!" I've been pretty absent lately as can't get things to settle down much here lately. It would help if the rain would stop (or at least slow down a bit)...

Well, enjoy your day! My kids aren't even up yet... good for them sleeping in... I wish my body would let me do that, but 6am is about the latest I can sleep no matter what time I go to bed, plus the dog wants his walk early too. :flower: I will say that the early morning walks are the best (no traffic, no people, just relaxation!). Have fun! :goodvibes

Sending :goodvibes your way. That's great you'll be able to cut back a little on the new schedule. Hopefully that helps you feel better.

Hope you had a great mothers day! Your party plans sound awesome!

Beth, the news about your easier schedule is wonderful!! You truly NEED this time to recharge your batteries and fully recover from your hepatitis and all the other illnesses that have been dogging you for months. HOORAY!!

Also, thanks to you and Laurie for the Comcast info. I'm connected to the net via Comcast cable modem but thankfully have not gone digital yet. We don't seem to be having as many problems with connectivity. I'll hold off on switching to digital until they get the bugs worked out.

 for your day! :sunny:

Beth:

I think you are making the right decision in cutting back on work hours until you are well. I sure wish I had the option of going part time right now...I'm reaching full on exhaustion too.

I don't think I've gotten my stamina back after the pnemonia (I'm very afraid that this cold will bring it back).

Please get some rest and just be a mom and wife for a bit. We wear too many hats sometimes.

Hi everyone,

Well, I am still alive. I am slowly getting the house in order. Of course, everytime I get a room cleaned, Katie and her friends destroy it. All that is left on the main floor is the kitchen. No sense in tackling that until Saturday after the cake is made. I actually organized my desk.

Won did very well with Mother's Day. He and Katie got me 3 books that I wanted to read. I have already started 4th of July. I am loving it.

I have been OP and worked out on Mon. Plan on hitting the Y for an hour tomorrow morning. Katie and I have a playdate in the afternoon. More cleaning after that.

I am not going to make it to many ournals this week. I am just so busy doing my usual eekly stuff and getting ready for this party. I know it isn't a big deal, but I want to get the house really clean (yes, it will be destroyed in less than 5 minutes). I think maintaining it will be a ton easier, if I just make the effort to do it right now.

Ok, onto AI. I can't believe that Anthony and Carrie sang the same song. The other thing is that he sang it better. he seems much more relaxed the last 2 weeks. I can't call who is going this week. Carrie did well on the county. Bo rocked Money. Vonzell did a gret comebck with her 2nd song. Anthony did well on both songs. Hmm....
Ok, I am off to read for an hour before going to bed.

Don't worry about journals this week: You have a very special party for a very special young lady to get ready for. princess: :bday: Katie!! We completely understand! ::yes::

Take care Beth! Have a wonderful week and let us know how Katie's party goes! :flower:

Hi Beth,

Just checking in with you. Hope your party preparations are going well. Have fun. :goodvibes

I agree with Tracy, dear Beth. Journals will wait. Use your time to get ready for Katie's party.

I hope today is a wonderful day for you! :sunny:

Hey, Beth. It won't be long 'til the party! :flower: You're going to have to give us a "party report" when it's over.

I'm glad to hear you're cutting back some. Your body's been telling you for some time now that it needs a break. Sorry, ya just can't get the mother out of me!

Journals will always be here. Don't sweat it!

Love,
Erin

Hi Beth!

I hope all is going well with you and that the plans for Katie's party are right on track. ::yes:: Have a great time this weekend!!! :jumping1:

Hi,

This week has been crazy. Our fridge exploded, black smoke the whole thing. I am not sure what happened. We've had no problems with it at all, and suddenly, it's DEAD. Of course, I had gone shopping the day before. There goes some $.. Fortunately, we have a separate freezer, so I was able to save alot of it. I also have a shiny new fridge/freezer.

Things are pretty much under control for the party. I just need to clean our bedroom and bathroom and then the house is spotless. Maintaining it shuld be much easier now. There is a 30% chance of rain. We are praying it holds off.

I am still sick. My cold developed into a sinus infection. Hmmm...it got worse after I did my OT on Wednesday. I just got back from the MD and I have antibiotics, so I should feel better soon.

My life should get bck to normal on Monday. We get the puppy, Pez, on Tuesday. This is perfect becuse it is Katie's actual Bday. Won has agreed to help me post pictures.

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend, and I will catch up with everyone next week.
Beth

Your fridge exploded????? Oh My Gosh!! At least you got a shiny new one out of it and you salvaged most of the food.

Best wishes for good health, no rain, and a wonderful party for Katie!

Hi Beth- I have been away from the WISH boards forever. I wanted to pop in and say hi. Happy Birthday to Katie!
Exploding fridge- that's a new one.

Beth:

Wow, can't believe an appliance could do that! I'm so grateful it didn't start a fire - can you imagine if that happened when you weren't home? Nice to have a new one, though...I've got all new appliances picked out for when we remodel this kitchen (OK, its good to have dreams).

Happy Birthday to Katie and a happy homecoming for Pez the puppy. I'm sure everything will go very well with all of your planning. And please feel much better soon!
