Looking at having a Photosession at GF for DD in March 2011. Is there a time of day that is better than others? I want pictures outside on the beach.

Any suggestions?

as a general photographers rule...the golden hours are the hour after sunrise, and the hour prior to sunset. You have much warmer light, and it is more direct.

I did a photo session this past summer at the Polynesian Resort. We had ours done around 1 o'clock in the afternoon. It made for good pictures but the sun was just a killer on your eyes. When we were taking pictures on the beach, we could barely keep our eyes open for the photo. I would suggest early or later in the day. I actually won the Photo Session as a prize during a Disney Vacation Club Meeting.

As DSLRuser states, the final hour of the day is considered the golden hour for its great warm colors. I personally believe the first hour of the day is just as golden, but you probably won't want to do a photo session that early.

You can get really good light from 2 hours prior to sunset until dark. But that last hour is generally very special.

I'm not familiar with the N-S-E-W configuration of the hotels. In general you will want to position yourself with the sun hitting the faces of the subjects, or coming in from a slight angle.

if you find that you need to take photos in midday and the light is hard on the eyes, have your subjects close their eyes for 10 seconds and relax. on the word (now) have them open their eyes, take pic. theres a lag time befor they have to squint.
I like to use fill flash during harsh bright light for better color or a warming filter

We got one done last august and we did it around 2 hours before the sun went down and they came out awesome! The photographer was great, we got it done at poly...We were very happy!

The prices got waaaaayyyy more expensive this year!

Did ours last year at WL in June. It was around 4 pm, and our photos are awesome! Some of the best money I've ever spent! Last year the value was certainly better though.

I'm in the research phase right now and we've narrowed it down to WL or Poly. I have not been impressed with any evening pictures to date. I'm thinking morning because we'll look the best. Anytime after we eat, all bets are off!:rotfl2: Also, the sun in the eyes is a key factor. Mid morning so far, looks like a good fit for us.
