My fam and I are heading to the World and wondering where to go for the best pools?? We are staying at Pop, but have already stayed there and would like to try out a different pool... Also, where are the best onsite beaches with sand? The little guy is really disappointed we can't make a day trip to the beach so I thought maybe we could stop by one that's on property...

Thanks for any help you can give me!

The best pool to swim at is the one at the resort you are staying at...Pool Hopping is not permitted per Disney policy. The beaches are also NOT for swimming due to alligators in the water, parasites, and the fact the the waterways are for watercraft

Perhaps you can change to one of the All Star Resorts, then you can go to any of their pools and still be at a value resort.

If you want to upgrade, I think Caribbean Beach resort has a nice pool and a sandy beach area for your son.

Wow... I didn't realize you couldn't pool hop. We always just go in the pool at the resort we are staying at anyway but I never realized it was a no-no. It didn't always used to be, did it? I remember years ago it being ok- unless it just wasn't enforced. How would they really know where you are staying anyway if you just walked up to the pool?

Well then, as for beaches (which we weren't intending to swim in, only visit), where would you recommend going?

You are correct, many years ago, pool hopping was allowed, but not anymore. The CMs know where you are staying by looking at your resort ID card. At some pools (Stormalong Bay at the YC/BC), you can't even get in the pool area without showing your resort ID. At other pools, CMs have been known to come around and ask people to show IDs and,if they don't have one for the resort they are swimming at, asking them to leave.

I think there is a beach area at the Poly, Beach club and Caribbean Beach Resort. If you want to swim and have a car, Cocoa Beach on the Atlantic coast is probably the closest.

Thanks AJKMOM!! I appreciate the information you gave me to lead me in the right direction! Your tips were very helpful!

The Caribbean Beach Resort has wonderful white sand beaches with playgrounds, lounge chairs, and hammocks. :goodvibes

Wilderness Lodge has a very small beach area. It's off to the side, down a little path from the pool. It is where you can rent the "personal water mice." The beach is very small, and when we were there (years ago) it was soooo quiet and relaxing. At that time our youngest was 7 and our older son was 12. He and my husband had a blast on the water mice. My younger son and I loved the beach.

The little beach is also where you go to watch the Disney Electrical Water Parade. This is at night. It's free. The boats are all lit up. It's very pretty and very short.

We also really enjoyed the pool at Wilderness Lodge. The pool slide was great for our boys and the adults enjoyed it too. The area around the pool is soooo gorgeous. There is also a "geyser" that goes off periodically. We liked going over to watch that.

Can you tell we enjoyed WL? It's also nice to be able to take the boat right over to MK.

I agree that you can head to any place and use their beach to just hang out. As far as the pools - I would say that your chance of "visiting" other pools would depend on the season and how crowded. The more crowds the more the no hopping rule is enforced.

DVC members can pool hop BTW - most of the other locations. It is one of the benefits.

Thanks for the info..but I already knew that DVC could hop, but even they have restrictions as well( black out dates and certain pools still can not be hopped to)

It's my understanding that guests of Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter are allowed to visit each other's pools. No beach, but cute themed pools!

Yep, because they are sister resorts that is allowed, at least when I was there last. We stayed at POR but they were rehabbing the hot tub and pool bar, so we spent a fair bit of time over at the POFQ pool. The kids liked the slide there better anyway.
