Just wanted to get some opinions on the best diapers and wipes for an infant. My DS is now 7 and we are expecting soon and wanted to find out what everyone thinks works best now a days.

First of all congratulations!

I have 3 kids: DD 8, DS 6, and DS 17months.

I always used regular Huggies with the older two kids. At night, I'd use Huggies Supremes.

With the baby, I use Pampers Swaddlers. I love them! They're super soft and they seem so comfy. I just didn't like Huggies this time around for some reason. We use Huggies Overnites at night though.

For wipes, I used either Huggies or Pampers unscented. When DS was a newborn, I used Johnson & Johnson newborn wipes.

I've always gone with pampers diapers and wipes for both my children. I've tried huggies, luvs, and costco brands since those tend to be a little cheaper, but I like pampers best. The wipes are a good size and very soft.
Good luck with your new little one!

I love the Pampers Swaddlers too:thumbsup2
They are so soft and comfy for DD!! I dont like the Luvs at all and I can do the Huggies if I needed to, but prefer the swaddlers. I will hate it too when DD cant wear them anymore. She is 6 mos. but only 13 pounds so at the beginning weight for them. Hopefully they come in size 3 too, but I havent checked that. For wipes I LOVE the Huggies Supreme. They are so thick I usually only need one for even the poopie diapers. I tried the Pampers, but they were very "slick". No grippers on them. I was using 2 or 3 per diaper change. The Huggies Supreme, on the other hand are very thick and have a gripper pattern on them. Hard to describe, but easy to understand if you have used both.

Congratulations!! A new baby is always exciting. My children are older now, but I thought I would share what I had to do with all three of my children. I used Huggies Supreme diapers if I remember right, but I had problems with the wipes. All three of my babies were very sensitve, and no matter what brand I used they would break out in a diaper rash. I knew it was the wipes.

My mom had a brillant idea. She bought a package of square cotton pads (the ones in the make-up aisles), and that is what I ended up using as wipes for my three children. The hospistal gave me a small plastic bowl with each baby so at each changing, I would fill it with warm water, dip the cotton square into the water, and use it as my wipe. They were perfect, and I have to mention that my children were rash free after that. Of course when we were out I had to use regular wipes, but they were OK with just using them once and while.

In reg stores like Target, grocery stores, etc., Swaddlers go up to size 2. However, at BJ's, they carry Swaddlers in a size 2-3, which goes up to 22 lbs. DS is 17 months and still has plenty of room in them (he's on the small side).

Pampers Swaddlers while they fit, and then Cruisers. I hate, hate, hate the Pampers wipes, and will only use Huggies. One wipe will handle a messy butt...with the Pampers ones, I need 9 and it always feels like it's going to tear.

Ok, I have 2 boys so when they were infants I only used Pampers b/c they almost never leaked, and Huggies always leaked. (I always wanted to use Huggies b/c of the Disney characters!!lol) But as they got older and I had 2 in diapers, I switched to Luvs. I found that they were really good, and I almost never had a leak.
For baby wipes, I always and still have used Pampers. I like the fact that it has the pop-up wipe waiting for me. Instead of having to open the box to get a wipe out.

I love Pampers, especially the swaddlers for baby. My 10yo dd just did a science experiment on which diapers held the most. Huggies and Pampers Cruisers tied for best and Huggies Supreme came out the worst, even worse than kmart store brand. Which in my experience whenever I used Huggies Supreme they were the worst for leaks. But I know some diapers fit differently and I have a friend that used Pampers for her first but uses Huggies on her second. She said the Pampers doesn't fit this baby's shape. For wipes I use Costco.

I also LOVE Pampers Swaddlers!

MIL usually keeps Huggies, and I just do not like them. They don't fit as well. Swaddlers fit so well, and we've had very few leaks. Huggies leaked all the time. And, the huggies are just in general smaller, which meant more out-the-back explosions and leaks and lines on DS's legs and stuff.

Another vote for Pampers Swaddlers! And then Cruisers when they get older. Although, I do buy Huggies once and awhile just for the Disney characters, like a previous poster said.

For wipes, I use just the WalMart Parents Choice ones. They are cheap, so I don't feel bad using a ton of them at a time.

Wow - thanks for so many quick responses. When my DS was little we used Pampers as an infant and Huggies as a toddler and it sounds like 7 years later that is the consensus. I guess Pampers Swaddlers are something new so I will definitely have to check them out. It sounds like that is what most like the best at the infant stage. Thanks again.

Ok one more question for those of you who have little ones now. I cannot remember how quickly we went through sizes and I know each child is different but my Mother is having a diaper shower for me and I was going to register for the brand that I wanted so it sounds like Pampers Swaddlers will be it but now the question is how many of say the size 1's, size 2's, etc. should I register for. I cannot remember how quickly we went through the sizes or how many diapers per day since it has been 7 years. If history repeats itself I will have an 8-9 lb baby so I am sure I wont be in the little ones for long. Any help is greatly appreciated.

We have used Huggies Supreme diapers and the Huggies Natural wipes since she was born. Never had any issues or problems :)

Congratulations!!

My son is 2 months old and so far the only diaper we like (that doesn't leak or blow out!) is Pampers Swaddlers! I much prefer cloth wipes to disposable wipes. My favorite cloth wipe is Swaddlebees. Sooooooooooo soft (much nicer than disposable ones). When I use disp. ones though, we stick with Pampers for that too.

I have always used Huggies wipes as they did not have alcohol in them while the Pampers ones did...not sure if Pampers have changed theirs now.

For Diapers I always used Pampers with my DD and they were great but with my DS he kept waking up wet in the night every night. It took me a while to figure out that Boys pee goes up! and he was wetting up and out through the waist band.
I switched to using Huggies on him at night as they were more fitted around the waist and it solved the problem.

I only use Pampers Swaddlers and then the Pampers Cruisers when he got into the bigger sizes. I do NOT like the Pampers Baby Dry, Huggies or LUVS.

I agree about wipes though with a previous poster,....I only use Huggies wipes. The Pampers seem so thin and I go through a ton of them while I only need 1 or 2 of the Huggies for a good mess.

As far as registering for diapers, I would only register for 1 or 2 of each size.....just enough to hold you over until you see what works for you and how quickly your baby grows. Instead of diapers we registered for $15 gift cards so we could buy what we wanted as we needed them. We only used the giftcards for diapers/wipes and they took up a lot less space then all those diapers.

I forgot to add we used the Huggies Overnites though for my son because he leaked out of everything else while he was sleeping. Pampers though for the daytime.

Used Pampers as infants...
Huggies work better later...
Huggies overnites for bedtime...

Use BJ's Warehouse Brand Unscented Wipes...

:goodvibes
My Last one of 5 is almost out of diapers

I think Huggies Natural Care unscented wipes are far and away the best wipes, they're thicker and you use less.

Most people start out with Swaddlers and then use whatever works best for them, for my DD Huggies worked the best because they have a high back and she was always having blowouts up the back!

As far as size, my DD was 8 lbs 12 oz I think. We never finished the pack of NB size diapers we had and seemed to go to size 2 pretty fast. Then she was in size 3 for a looooong time. So, especially if you think you're going to have a bigger baby, go with 2s and 3s.

Congrats!
