Hi,

I’m going to DLR for the second time eve (local to WDW) in a few months, first time being 10 years ago. It sees DLR hasn’t moved to the contactless bag checks yet? If I were to place all my things in clear ziplocs in my bags would I be able to just show my stuff to security without them touching it? I have health concerns that mean I won’t be doing indoor dining and definitely don’t want anyone touching my stuff. The rare occasion at WDW my bag is flagged, they have always allowed me to show them the contents without them physically touching anything.

How big is the bag that you are carrying? They do not need to touch every item. Just make sure that everything is visible in the clear bags and that it doesn't look like you are hiding things. For example, if you are carrying a sweatshirt, pack that in a bag by itself so they can easily pat it and tell that there isn't anything sharp inside. They look closely at keys because some people carry pocket knives on their keychains. They also go through coolers and bags with food, again to check for sharp objects that people might be bringing to eat their food (ex. knives).

At each security station, they have a small plastic bowl where you can place your phone, wallet, eyeglasses, etc. They rarely touch those items - just glance at what they are and push the tray through. They often open hard eyeglass cases so you might consider using a soft sleeve for your glasses.

Edit to add: They unzip pin folios. You can carry clothing and eyeglasses (out of the case) through the metal detector. I often have a pair of glasses on my face and my sunglasses hanging from the neck of my shirt.

They always touch your bag to go through it. They sometimes use a stick but if you want a guarantee then I would not bring a bag. Otherwise, there is always a chance they will touch it.

I agree. If your concerns are that you can't do indoor dining, how do you plan to handle the indoor attractions and outdoor entertainment (where people are very close)? If you are concerned about respiratory viruses, I frequently see people (CM and guests) wearing masks.

I have all of my backpack stuff in ziplocs, to make it easier for security to check my things, but they must still touch things as they lift the bags or pat them as @LKing mentioned. Also they do wear gloves as I recall.

If you are concerned with them touching the ziplocs, I would suggest you double bag everything so after security you can remove the outer bag and still have your things in the inner bags. You don’t mention length of stay or whether you plan to head to the hotel mid-day and return to the parks later, but you’d need to do this each time you go thru security

I went thru security an hour ago. They open every part of the bag and touch everything in there. Even if it’s in clear bags I can’t think of a scenario where it wouldn’t be moved out of the way to inspect the bag.
