Best Diapers & Wipes?

I am going to go out on a limb here with a dissenting opinion.

I HATED Pampers. I found that they were smaller than Huggies -- my son was blowing out the back of the pampers on a regular basis. He was a big boy at birth (9lbs 12oz), so I wonder if that has something to do with it.

Now at 4 mos old -- he is already in size 3's. We are switching off between Huggies and Luvs. I am starting to like the Luvs better. They are alot cheaper! We still use both though.

As for wipes -- we like the pampers sensitive wipes. I tried the Huggies and I didn't like them -- they were almost too dry. I don't mind using a ton of wipes. I thought the drier ones might irritate his skin since it might be more chafing....

Yet another vote for Swaddlers! And Huggies wipes. The only HWs we don't like are the Shea butter ones and that is due to the scent.

RE: how many to get - a lot of the stores will let you exchange un-opened packages for a different size if you find you have too many NBs and not enough 1s, etc.

Another vote for Pampers Swaddlers/Cruisers. DS always leaked out of Huggies. We also like Pampers sensitive wipes.

I'm a Pampers mom too! I will buy Huggies if I have a great coupon and they are on sale, but I prefer Pampers. They seem more absorbant and softer. Same thing with the wipes! Sign up on the pampers website and they will send you coupons all the time. I signed up my mom and mil too and used the coupons they received.

I forgot to add we used the Huggies Overnites though for my son because he leaked out of everything else while he was sleeping. Pampers though for the daytime.

I just discovered Huggies Overnites size 3 and they've been a lifesaver. No more changing his diaper again at midnight.

We use Huggies, the Pampers gave my son a rash, so I also think it would be good to get 1 or 2 and see which you like best.

Wow - thanks for so many quick responses. When my DS was little we used Pampers as an infant and Huggies as a toddler and it sounds like 7 years later that is the consensus. I guess Pampers Swaddlers are something new so I will definitely have to check them out. It sounds like that is what most like the best at the infant stage. Thanks again.

Ok one more question for those of you who have little ones now. I cannot remember how quickly we went through sizes and I know each child is different but my Mother is having a diaper shower for me and I was going to register for the brand that I wanted so it sounds like Pampers Swaddlers will be it but now the question is how many of say the size 1's, size 2's, etc. should I register for. I cannot remember how quickly we went through the sizes or how many diapers per day since it has been 7 years. If history repeats itself I will have an 8-9 lb baby so I am sure I wont be in the little ones for long. Any help is greatly appreciated.

My DD is 6 mos old now and I have yet to buy a pack of diapers and I have 6 more packs on the shelf. I bought up various packs starting at about 20 weeks during my pregnancy. I would get one when I was in the grocery store doing regular grocery shopping. I also bought wipes that way. My DD just went into size 2 diapers about a month ago. She wore newborn for about a month after she was born. My DD is on the small side though. She is 13 pounds now and the sixe 2's start at 12 pounds.

We have used about every brand on the market at one time or another. Different babies have different sized bums and so, obviously, different diapers work for them. My best advice is to sample several kinds and then buy them.

We used White Cloud for 3 of our 4 because number 4 got a rash from them and really couldn't wear anything but Huggies. Luvs were worthless for us because we ended up changing outfits with each diaper change. I didn't like the Parent's Choice brand for the same reason as Luvs.

When they were teeny-tiny (and I am talking 4 lbs coming home) we loved the Pampers Swaddlers, but have heard since that they changed the formula for the gel inside and it can more easily cause a rash. Now we are in White Cloud pull-ups and Overnight Huggies pullups for nighttime. We have some big time drinkers who can't seem to keep their sheets dry. HTH

Congratulations and Good luck!

Hands down my favorite diapers were FuzziBunz cloth diapers (with baby washclothes for wipes).

If picture cloth diapers as large white rectangles with pins, let me tell you, cloth diapering has changed in the past decade. With my first, I tried various disposable diapers and gradually switched to cloth. By baby #3, I used cloth all the time, except on out-of-town trips. With the FuzziBunz, we rarely had a leak or blow out, and never had diaper rash.

I love Pampers Swaddlers for the first few months, but after that, I switched to "store brand" & never looked back. White Cloud at Walmart would do in a pinch, but I preferred the premium dipes from Babies R Us or the BJ's brand diapers. Some people swear by the Target brand diapers, but they weren't all that hot to me.
