My parents are leaving for WDW on Tuesday. I know its short notice but is there a specific building they should request their room in? They are elderly (both over 75) and just realized how large the resort is. They are completely mobile but are trying to avoid having to walk a mile to catch the bus. Any/all help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks all!!

There are many well spaced bus stops throughout the resort. You noted they are mobile so they really should not have a problem.

We like Turtle Crawl area on one end of the resort, it is a quiet area, a large pool and snack counter and small bar. We also like building # 26 near the hospitality area.

I hope they have a great trip. OKW is one of the hidden gems in WDW.

There is no "best" building at OKW. All have the same basic things, its just a matter of if you want to be near (or away from) some particular feature.

That said, like Tonka's Skipper, we prefer the Turtle Pond area and often request building 35. Its quiet, convenient to a bus stop and the quiet pool.

You have to have a "near hospitality house" reservation to get those buildings, along with 11 to 14. I would request 62-64 or near bus stop if they don't have a near HH reservation.

I was worried about staying at OKW without requesting a building the first time we stayed, but we gambled. . .and were in the next to last building from the hospitality house. . .AND WE LOVED IT! We may have been far from the hospitality house, but we were steps away from a bus stop, and really close to a quiet pool. The best part, the park busses pick up at the resort starting at the back, so we were always first to get on. And if you don't feel like making the walk to the hospitality house, you can take any bus. Really there is no bad building.

OKW has 2-3 floors, most without elevators. There are some bldgs. close to HH (but not that category) that have elevators. IF you put in a request and state elevator requested due to elderly status, it should be granted. Otherwise, you can request a 1st floor unit due to elderly. If you don't have 1st floor when checking in--just remind them you made a request and they will switch you to a1st floor.

We love South Pointe, bldgs 53, 54 or 55 first floor. That's the first bus stop so you always get a seat even on the busiest of days. There is a quiet pool and the buildings are on a cul-de-sac so usually more quiet and less traffic.

The resort is beautiful. They should have a great time.

We prefer Turtle Pond or Hospitality House areas. Bus stops are located nearby all locations, but you could always request to be near one.

We were just in building 62 and it is close to everything with a great lake view!!

I am going there in December and was toying with the idea of a request. I love peace and quiet, would rather be on the top floor, but after reading this I think I'm just going to chance it. I did likewise when I stayed at the Beach Club villas, and found myself sitting on the balcony watching Illuminations every night, and greeted by the big silver ball every morning!

:)
