 If we don't hear from you for a while, now we'll know why. ;)

Michelle - we won't send out a posse lookin' for you. ;)

Well... if you don't hear from me for like a week... somebody call me and tell me to come up for air... :lmao:

Happy Friday Food Friendies! It's over a 100 here in SD and that is VERY STRANGE! So .. to beat the heat we made a batch of Pina Coladas and are sitting here in the A/C wishing time away till the Food Fest!

Now everyone sing " If you like Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain.. I'm not much in to health food.. I am into Champagne"! :lmao:

You need to join the Champagne girls... :lovestruc

It's mid to upper 60s here, and has been overcast/raining/bleh for the past few days. We are usually over 100 degrees in August. Wacky. Love the pina coladas.

Today has been a DAY. The best part was that I got a free lunch. The controller (aka head of the accounting dept) took us out for lunch. We do this maybe once a year, but usually around the holidays or after a rough time with the auditors.

I had to stay late due to month end stuff. Probably will stay late Monday, too. So I have with me...

1 really full glass (12th Annual Epcot F&W glass from PFTS) of La Crema pinot noir;
1 oz of some yummy Manchego cheese

I really need that emergency wine and cheese moment.

Ohhh Lori.. I hope your wine and cheese helped

Okay, all this talk about the seminars has got me thinking I really need to look through again and see what's being offered. For $5 each (if the discount is still being offered) I figure I should really check some of them out.

Wow, 100 degrees, it was barely over 70 degrees here today, which is not normal for NJ this time of year. Tomorrow is not supposed to be much better and I'm not too happy about that -- going to NYC to see Billy Elliot on Broadway and was hoping for a nice day. Oh well, at least the show will be good:thumbsup2

Those Pina Coladas look good -- and now I'm going to be able to get that song out of my head...

oooohhhh and I was ssssssssssooooooooooooooooooooo Close...

I need to change my number... :sad2:

But the good news is my other half is amongst them and is on his way home!!!!! He's in Paris waiting for a flight...

He's promised to cook for me when I see him during this week (he's a chef...) and sorry girls... but there probably won't be too much food porn cause he's been away since Feb. and I doubt we're gonna make it to dessert.... if ya know what I mean... :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Glad to hear your other half is on his way home :)

Happy Friday evening, friendies! We've been checking for availability at AKL for awhile, and it finally popped up today. So, I made a quick change, and we're now 2 night at AKL, 5 at BWI. Had to rearrange, cancel/reschedule some ADR's but I think we're set.
Since we only have park tickets for 5 days, spending a couple of days at AKL will be perfect for us.
We're all on the countdown. :dance3:

I just stayed at Kidani Village last week. AKL is definitely a great place for some down time. You're really going to enjoy it:thumbsup2

Sorry you're having a suck day. Overworking is the worst.:headache: If wine and cheese can't make it better, then I'm all out of ideas. Chocolate perhaps?

We were supposed to go to a winery and do a vineyard tour..but alas Tropical Depression Dan has foiled our plans ;)...So we are doing a Mansion tour instead...should be fun! Then i think they have plans to do dinner and dancing..we will be staying down there for the night. FUN!!! I better throw on my galoshes and raingear though..its a wet one!

Friendies ... if you use restaurant . com they are offering a special through the end of the month: 80% of all gift certificates. I just purchased $35 worth of GCs for $2.80 ... that's just sick! :lmao:

OH WOW! I am on like Donkey Kong! Too Cool!:thumbsup2

Hi all! Hope everyone is having a good weekend, and recovering from their horrible Friday workdays!

For those of you who have inquired as to how Emma is doing with kindergarten, the answer is that she is loving it. Of course, she gets candy every day as long as the teacher doesn't write her name on the board for misbehaving, so what's not to love?;)

Glad to see that everyone is getting all the seminars they want, and Elin, I'm happy to see that you were able to get the dessert buffet after all.

Gina, I hope the pasta you made last night turned out better than mine....I tried a new Rachael Ray recipe, and while I normally love her recipes, this one was not a keeper! It wasn't horrible....just really bland.

Chelsi, our weather has been wacky here too....normally we are in the mid to high 90's, with tons of humidity....but this summer has been almost mild. I think we've only had a handful of days above 90, and at the moment it's only the mid-80s with hardly any humidity.

Heather - I am glad Emma is loving school (candy and all!) :)

Wine and cheese helped. I didn't need to break out the chocolate just yet. ;)

I'm going for sushi for lunch. And get airline miles at the same time. :goodvibes

OK, I found this youTube bit purely by accident. It is Brian Piasecki cooking the famous Le Cellier Cheddar Cheese soup.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXZkin-ZuSg

I am looking at the film and wondering where in the heck it was filmed! It sure isn't Le Cellier. It isn't Jiko, where he went next, nor is it CA Grill, where he is now. Any idea where this restaurant may be?

Love it! Thanks for posting the link :goodvibes

I'm 99% sure that is Citricos.

I'd have to agree :thumbsup2

Michelle, I made the shrimp recipe. My husband loved it. Thanks for such a great recipe, it's a keeper!:goodvibes

I'm so glad you liked it :goodvibes

Are you staying at AKL Jambo or Kidani? They're both beautiful :thumbsup2 I stayed one night at Jambo and we toured Kidani. I think I prefer Kidani because it's brighter/not as dark but you really can't go wrong with either one.

OK ... I don't do this very often, but sometimes someone posts a review that is so bad, so unintentionally funny, that I have to share it.

The Most Not-Supposed-to-be-Funny Review of Victoria & Albert's You May Ever Read

Take special note of words used that definitely don't mean what the author thinks they mean. Scratch your head like I did trying to puzzle out how the waitstaff could be both stoic and personable. Laugh off two pounds picturing the "not ostentatious" harpist. And enjoy the many references to class and money and the fabulous assumption that the author makes about all women at the close of her review.

I just want to share the mirth. :rotfl2:

Wow! North C. with not much humidity?! What the heck! I wish I was visiting your state. Went for the 1st time last year and thought it was amazing!

Sushi is always great! :flower3: Hugs Lori! Can't wait to see you SOON!! Did you get any $5 Food and Wine classes?

I'm going to be nice and just say that it actually hurt my brain to read that review. I may have to sue for post traumatic TR disorder.

I would also like to know how velvet is suave. :confused3

EDITED TO ADD: There weren't any spelling errors, so I guess that's a plus.

I was going to say something a lot less perfect or nice but WOW! You hit it on the nose! I feel like somehow I just got a little slap because I LOVE the experience of Victoria and Albert's.
Oh well.. makes it easier for me to get a ressie when I want it!
