one of my all time favorite movies!

PatriciaH just posted pics live from the new To-Kill-Ya bar in Mexicoland for all you happy drinkers! Looks great!

Well, the appies look a bit pricey for what they are, but boy, those margaritas sound amazing!

I would also like to know how velvet is suave. :confused3

EDITED TO ADD: There weren't any spelling errors, so I guess that's a plus.

I too, was trying to figure out how velvet could be suave.....although I was also wondering how food could be eloquently presented. And while there were no spelling errors, girlfriend needs to be introduced to the concept of using a comma in a run on sentence.:lmao:

yes ... the eloquent presentation was also something I really enjoyed. :lmao:

Seriously, one of the most enjoyable reviews I've come across in a long time - just not in the way you'd expect.

I'm also having a hard time picturing a member of the female wait staff at V&A specifically telling a guest that they have a "100% cashmere shawl" available should she get chilly.

Offering a shawl or wrap ... yes, that I can believe. Telling the guest the thread count and fabric make-up is too much of a stretch for me to wrap my head around ... too tacky for V&A.

And if someone offers me a 100% cashmere shawl when we dine at V&A I'm going to have to ask for a substitution ... perhaps merino wool or duponi silk because my skin is too sensitive for cashmere. :snooty:

;)

Chelsi, thanks for the tequila bar link .... looks like something we will all enjoy! :thumbsup2

Lori, sorry to hear that your day yesterday was craptacular ... hope you're doing better today!

Elin, congrats on nabbing a dessert party!!!

OK ... I'm about out. We are attending that wine / chocolate / jazz event tonight and it starts at 6PM. I still have to dry my hair and find a dress that fits. :scared1:

FYI ... I'm about half-way finished with the blog post from last week's wine tasting so I hope to have that completed in a few days so you guys can take a look.

Also ... we found a 5-course wine and food pairing on September 1st for only $30 per person! Guess what we're doing after work that night!? :rotfl2:

Enjoy your Saturday and thanks for not thinking tooooo badly of me for posting that link. ;)

For the record... I'll take dinner AND a new piece of jewelry! ;)

You guys are shameless! :cool2:

Have fun tonight, B. :dance3:

OK ... I don't do this very often, but sometimes someone posts a review that is so bad, so unintentionally funny, that I have to share it.

The Most Not-Supposed-to-be-Funny Review of Victoria & Albert's You May Ever Read

Take special note of words used that definitely don't mean what the author thinks they mean. Scratch your head like I did trying to puzzle out how the waitstaff could be both stoic and personable. Laugh off two pounds picturing the "not ostentatious" harpist. And enjoy the many references to class and money and the fabulous assumption that the author makes about all women at the close of her review.

I just want to share the mirth. :rotfl2:

Well that it. *dusts off hands* I'm gonna have to retire. I have a hard enough time being funny in the shadow of Bendy. Especially since my powers are derived from the sun. I don't know how I'm gonna compete with that master work of post-modern dis-satire. I am clearly out of my league here. Guess I'll be moving on.

eta- I had a friend who would use spell check and then the thesaurus word replace option on documents in college. I think I'm getting that vibe here.

I went and searched out some of the other posts that reviewer has made on the DIS. She is a full time mother and wife, has two 9 year olds, a 10 year old, a 15 year old (I believe) and what appears to be a 66 year old DH... Her posts are all very wordy and stilted too. I think she is trying to be "someone" she thinks she needs to be?!?

Wow, that looks really nice. Nicer than the San Angel is set up. (though the view is lovely out there) I hope the food they have there is nice (and not just because of my Tequila tasting event). That is going to be one busy place in World Showcase probably. I can't believe it took them this long to make a Tequila bar.

Yeah, I saw her review. I pretty much felt that she could have her jewelry; I'd rather have dinner there. I felt I needed to keep silent because of all the contradictions, starting with how uncomfortable she felt, even though she's been to her share of upscale hotels and establishments. She could have consulted the printed menu if she had any trouble describing what she ate, too. Yep, I'm a jerk, too. ;)

Sushi is always great! :flower3: Hugs Lori! Can't wait to see you SOON!! Did you get any $5 Food and Wine classes?

Yes I did. Those were the only $5 things I managed. Bunratty Mead on Oct 14 and La Crema winery on Oct 19.

Yes, and Catherine enjoyed the place, too. She had the lime and jalepeno margarita.

I'm holding out for the pashmina shawl in October, Brenda. I'll let everyone else fight over the cashmere ones. :rotfl2:

WooHoo! We will see you at La Crema! That guy better be good with you and I and Jason.. he might have a revolt on his hands! :rotfl2: More Pinot now my good man! :lmao:

Can't wait for the margarita bar!

I don't know about any Cashmere shawl but the 1st time I went the poor guy I was with didn't have a jacket so they gave him one! He looked like Pee Wee Herman the arms were so short!

Post-modern DIS satire ... I just spat wine all over myself. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

on the drive home from the winery Jay and I were trying to come up with a review of this evening's event that kind of played off that other review and we just can't do it. It's like trying to write with the wrong hand or using the word mailman to describe a woman ... it just won't work. :lmao:

If that is the case I feel very bad for her ... you don't need to be anyone other than who you are. That review would have been just fine if she'd just used her normal vocabulary to tell everyone that she had a lovely birthday dinner at V&A. I'm not impressed by people who try too hard to impress ... it's just not worth it.

I'm with you Laura ... took way too long for them to finally pull the trigger on this idea but I'm glad it's finally open. It looks like it will be a great place to stop for a drink and a snack. :thumbsup2

I'm so bummed ... everyone else is doing La Crema on the 19th but ours is on the 21st. :sad1: We'll miss all the cool kids.

Well you know what they say- If you don't have anything nice to say, come and sit by me.:rotfl:

I never really have anything nice to say ... I'm one of the snarkiest people I know. Sometimes I can't believe I have any friends at all. :rotfl2:

Our event tonight was actually pretty cool but we didn't really have an opportunity to take any pictures ... no food porn. :scared1:

I would like to say that the staff was real nice-like ... they were also beneficent and magnanimous.

We're still cogitating on the wines ... ;)

:rotfl2: I'm hanging my head in shame for the things that I'm thinking at the moment.

The wines were an interesting and thoughtful fusion of wet and dry. I never really contemplated how it was that a liquid beverage could be dry, but it's possible. It was a totally cromulent experience that embiggened our horizons. :rolleyes1

I just stayed at Kidani Village last week. AKL is definitely a great place for some down time. You're really going to enjoy it:thumbsup2

We are really excited about our stay!

Are you staying at AKL Jambo or Kidani? They're both beautiful :thumbsup2 I stayed one night at Jambo and we toured Kidani. I think I prefer Kidani because it's brighter/not as dark but you really can't go wrong with either one.
Yesterday for most of the day Disney was offering AKL Standard CL with the Fall 40% off code. I couldn't believe it. So, due to the deal, that's where we are staying. :thumbsup2 Just because I was curious I checked today, but the offer for AKL has disappeared.
I booked ASAP, and then called the IPO to see if there was space on the Wanyama Safari. We were lucky, we're booked!:woohoo:
We'll be heading over to Kidani for a late lunch while we are there, so we'll get to see it. :cool1:

OK, here I am, minding my own business, drinking my Sam Adams, and I click on the link you referenced...and laughed so hard I almost choked on my beer. The only words that came to mind were hilarious and pretentious. :lmao: (And I promise I came up with both of those words without the use of an online thesaurus.):rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Gina, I hope your bachelorette party is a blast! (It's still probably going on :lmao:).

I woke up an hour ago and remembered that I have to take breakfast for our Sunday school class this morning--do you see what time it is??????? I have 90% of ingredients to make several things, but not 100% to make any one thing. :headache: I am here perusing recipes because I've already been through my cookbooks. Ugh.
