Belly Up to the Bar With Bendy and Her Friendies!!! Button Pics & New Thread Started!

Hedy, here are the Emeril reviews I did from May 2006. I didn't realize they were both in the same thread, so you can read a review of Emeril's in City Walk and then read our comparison to Tchoup Tchoup. Hope it helps - they're not the best thing I ever wrote, but I was new to to the foodie scene then. :lmao:

Emeril V. Emeril

...but if there's anything that could be done to persuade you to procure that perfect recipe for that pina colava concoction, I would be most pleased. Not to mention grateful.

Did I use enough alliteration? :lmao:

Worked for me! I couldn't bear to think of you pining away for that drink until she came back with it so I looked on AllEarsNet.com and lookie here:

Pina CoLAVA

Preparation:
Pour layer of Island Oasis Raspberry in empty glass. Build remaining ingredients in blender over ice, freeze & pour over raspberry.

1.25 ounces Bacardi Razz
3 ounces Bacardi Pina Colada
1 ounce Island Oasis Raspberry

Cheers!

That sounds great.:goodvibes Now I need to try that and the mocha colada. :drinking1

But... there are more!

From Hurricane Hanna's: Pina CoLAVA - Bacardi Razz rum blended with Pina colada mix and raspberry puree

More... Wonder which is real??
Bartenders at the 22 Walt Disney World Noun 1. Walt Disney World - a large amusement park established in 1971 to the southwest of Orlando, use the same volcanic technique to showcase the Pina CoLAVA frozen cocktail, priced at $7.95. It's one of the resorts' three best-selling drinks. In this instance, the "lava" is an ounce of Island Oasis Raspberry puree in a hurricane glass. The eruption is set off by pouring in the mixture of ice, Bacardi Razz Rum and Pina Colada mix straight from the blender cup. At busy pool bars, frozen drink machines are used to make the frozen component of the cocktail in volume.

OK... I am a wine, beer and bourbon girl. Didn't know that all three recipes are basically the same. The Island Oasis Raspberry IS the puree!

I must be a freak of nature ... oh, wait; I am a freak of nature. :rotfl2:

What I meant was that I don't like the pina colava ... too sweet; too much raspberry. Go figure. Since they did away with my Shipwreck at Hurricane Hannah's I've been sticking with the Grand Margarita, which isn't bad. I may ask the bartender to stretch in October and make me a kahlua colada ... yummy yummy yummy!

Are you trying to confuse me? I'm already weak brained from working fastidiously on my tie dye Mickey shirts.

I swear, the fumes must have gone to my head. :lmao:

I'm not always one for the sticky sweet drinks myself, but for some reason, I really liked this one. The Grand Margarita sounds really nice though, I do love a good margarita.

Thought I'd tempt you fine folks with some food porn from my recent weekend on Martha's Vineyard. These come courtesy of Water Street, a tapas place in a hotel that looks suspectly like the Yacht Club.
Here we have a slow roasted tomato, greens and local cheese

More on point-have any of you eaten at Tchoup Tchoup at Universal Orlando? Is it worth it?

Where did you stay on the Vineyard??? I'm an East Chop Girl myself... :goodvibes

Thanks Tink ... the drink I'm thinking of had Baileys, Kahlua, pineapple juice, cream of coconut, ice and one other booze that I cannot for the life of me remember. But it made a fine, frosty, alcoholic, pool-side sipping beverage.

I miss it. :sad1:

I also miss the Espresso Chillers. :sad2:

Hey, I finally found a copy of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies today! :thumbsup2 Haven't made it too far yet, but it's very amusing, especially if you're familiar with the original story and how it's written.

Right now I particularly like how the normal people refer to the zombies as "unmentionables." :rotfl2:

Wow, I am really behind. I guess that's what happens when you spend some time away from your computer :rotfl: It finally stopped raining here (well, it's rained, it just stopped raining all day every day...) so I was able to spend some time at the beach this weekend. Hope everyone had a great weekend too!

Since we're talking about drinks, here's a recipe for you. It's a great summer drink! :thumbsup2

Bourbon Slush

2 cups tea
6oz can frozen orange juice
12 oz can frozen lemonade
1 cup sugar
6 cups water
1-2 cups bourbon (depending on what kind of mood you're in :lmao:)

Combine all ingredients and freeze overnight. Enjoy!

Hi friendies,

I am happy to report a mostly successful experience with the online ADR tool this morning! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info! I am a DVC member so unless they fix the DVC glitch soon, I will have to call for my ADRs in a few weeks. But it's always good to hear everyone's experiences -- makes me less nervous to try it out. At least I can use it after the 90 day mark.

Robin, that slush sounds really tasty. I think I may have to try that next weekend ... we're going to be out of town over the 4th, so no chance for booze other than beer.

And I'm still really annoyed about the DVC / travel agent glitch in the on-line system. It takes a special kind of stupid to program that system so that it doesn't recognize those kind of reservations.

Unbelievable. :headache::mad:

If I did something like that in my job I wouldn't have a job any longer. Results matter where I work, but I think that Disney believes they can get away with sub-standard IT because they have an unlimited audience. If I get miffed and start using my DVC points for trips off property who at Disney cares if it's because of what I term poor quality of service? There are twenty people crawling over themselves to nab our villa during October.

Oh well ... I'm just a critic at heart. And I expect more from Disney because they used to expect more from themselves.

Does anyone have change for a button? :lmao:

Here is the current listing I have for friendies who want me to order buttons for them; if I've missed anyone or have the quantity wrong please let me know. I'd like to get an order placed within the next few weeks to allow time for any snafus.

Thanks!

Thanks for posting, we're going in October!!!!

Your welcome and please tell us how you like it because I know they have a new chef that is supposed to be amazing! The place alone is beautiful and the drinks I would go back for without any food!

You should have been in my head last night when I was looking for the recipe! :rotfl: I think the original one from AllEars is right... I just didn't know that the Oasis junk was the raspberry puree!

Let me know if they work out!

sounds a lot like my Open House Punch but slushy... I am making it this weekend!!

We have rented DVC points for our October trip and are in the same boat you are Robin. I have to make ADRs on Saturday and assume I will need to call that morning (along with half the DIS Boards) for all except our very first one. I ought to be able to make that one online. I also plan to use the online system to tweak daily until satisfied.

Mornin' Friendies!

oybolshoi, I'd love to chat on the 11th. Sounds fun!

We're finalizing our plans for Oct. The first few days we'll spend with our daughter at Universal. We'll be at WDW Oct 5-12th.

Our dining plans have shaped up this way:
Artist Point
Bistro de Paris (but we're keeping our ears open for more info on Wolfgang Puck's dinner)
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre
(I read enough here to be intrigued! Seemed like a fun spot for a late lunch that day. :thumbsup2)
Party for the Senses (Waiting to hear more about this year. From the Examiner, sounds like the theme will be South America.)
Le Cellier-late lunch, then we plan to go to the Sister Hazel concert.
Kouzzina-early lunch, (sounds like it will be open then)

We'll see how the ADR's go. I have a bit of a plan B working if needed.

I tried to do a little better job of limiting our transit times this year, by matching our plans more closely to where we are staying.

Can't believe tomorrow is the 1st of July. This summer seems to be going by fast! :flower3:
