Belly Up to the Bar With Bendy and Her Friendies!!! Button Pics & New Thread Started!

back again ...

I just posted the review of our wine dinner on the blog ... follow the link in my signature if you want to take a read. This time the font is larger so hopefully no one will be blinded while reading. ;)

Thanks!

OMG  How can a menu that sounds soooo delicious turn out so bad :scared1: I burst out laughing when you stopped for Wendy's on the way home :lmao: :rotfl2: Glad you had fun anyways :goodvibes

OMG Bendy, that was one awful "looking" meal, I don't even want to imagine how bad it tasted. Jay's Burping Theory had me in tears I was laughing so hard.:rotfl2:

I don't know what was worse ... the fact that Jay let it rip more than once in the middle of a crowded restaurant or that it was so loud no one had a clue about what he was doing. :rotfl2: We're not usually that bad mannered (in public) ... just so you know. :goodvibes

That my friend is the million dollar question ... it sounded like an obvious winner, didn't it? :confused3

And Wendy's is my cure-all for bad dinners / awful wedding reception food. I loves me a single with cheese ... plain, of course! I wish I was eating one right now. :lmao:

Brenda
Sorry you didn't enjoy your dinner. But its amazing me that you could still make it sound good and also were able to have a few laughs. And I agree Wendys sure is a cureall for meals gone wrong.:thumbsup2 Charlene

Briarmom,

Good for you. I am green with envy!!! Three weeks touring around Europe. (even with kids!!! lol) :lmao: I can't wait to hear all about it.

Brenda,

You were SO right.......your review of the Scottish Arms sounded yummy and tasty. The only problem is that I am now typing blind as I over worked my eyes trying to read that tiny light print and now can't see a thing!!! Good thing (or maybe not) I read the wine dinner review before I went blind. What a shame as the description of each dish sounded like the night would be a winner.

Be careful at Wendy's. I once had a salad that came with a bonus. Hidden in the middle of my salad was a laytex glove. So much for trying to eat healthy!

Yes, I LOVE Bavaria.

I love love love British Columbia. Dh and I drove it to and from Alaska and were enamored. WHAT do you play in the symphony? The musician in me is dying to know!
Well, this is a rough itinerary of what we'll be doing.....

June 2 (yes, that is soon, thank you for noticing): spend the night in Castle in Bacharach Germany

3,4,5~ Garmisch, Germany

6&7~ Salzburg, Austria

8~ A cliff in Switzerland

9~~~en route?????

10-22/23 France

I am having difficulty getting rooms in the French Riviera, but I'll get there. It's so much harder to get a room when you have to Email each place and wait for a reply!!
Thoughts? Someone tell me I'm nuts?

British Columbia is a very beautiful province, and it's always good to hear it from visitors because when you live in a place you do take it for granted. I play the viola in VSO BTW. Bio and picture.

I think you've got a very good itinerary going there. The tour group I was leading last summer used Garmisch as our base for visiting Ludwig’s various castles and Oberammergau. If you haven't been there yet and if you only have time for one castle I would recommend Linderhof over Neuschwanstein. Of course, they're both amazing, but Neuschwanstein is absolutely crawling with tourists. Linderhof is a total gem and the mirror room, as well as the Venus Grotto is mind-boggling. If you have time, it's interesting to read some biographies of Ludwig II because you’ll understand why he built these fairytale castles and why he had such an obsession with Wagner and the German “Helden” stories. Also, remember that to the Germans he is not “Mad King” Ludwig as North Americans love to call him but rather their “Swan King” or their Märchenkönig (Fairy Tale King).

I'm not a fan of the French Riviera, having spent a summer working at the music festival in Nice. I think it's a snooty, overpriced place and the beaches are awful. But then, a big fan of Caribbean and South Pacific beaches.

As for last night's dinner ... It started out good with the appetizer and went rapidly downhill from there. They were very generous with the wine, though, so we can't complain about that. But the only food course that was prepared really well was the appetizer ... bruschetta.

You know it's bad when the kitchen serves chocolate mousse that has the consistency of cake batter. One of the waiters asked me how I liked it and I shocked him, myself, and Jay by responding, "This is really bad."

Just from that sentence I know your review is going to be hilarious. Those poor chefs! Did they know they had one of the best food writers and critics in the house?

This airline nitpicking makes me crazy.
This is such an idiotic policy on the airline's part because all it means is that people are going to take ever larger bags with them onto the plane. In the past years of flying, I sometimes don't know whether to be amused or pissed off when I see the large suitcases people are dragging on as hand baggage - and then trying to squeeze into the overhead bins. If you're not first in your seat, there's no room for your bags anymore.

Since today is the 10-year anniversary I thought I'd share a couple of pictures of how we looked 25 pounds ago ... :rotfl2:

AKL - How fabulous is that! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Have a wonderful trip and thanks SOOOOOOO much for any recipes you can get for the exchange. You're the best.

Question for foodies: would your preferance in Epcot be Chefs de France or Tutto Italia? We like both cuisines though I almost never eat pasta anymore because of the carb factor.

Yes it is a Michele thing:lmao:

I will do my best :goodvibes

As for your question, I'd have to answer with a question back; Dining Plan or OOP? I've never been to Tutto because I can't justify the prices, but if you're on the DDP :thumbsup2 Chefs de France I love and would go DDP or OOP :goodvibes

I would definitely pick Tutto Italia over Chefs de France. Tutto is pretty good depending on what you get. Love their eggplant mezzalane. I'm not a big pasta eater myself, but there are many non-pasta choices to be had. Chefs, no matter how many times we give it another chance, it always underwhelms us. We also may just be too darned spoiled/picky. :rotfl:

Have a safe, fun-filled vacation!:thumbsup2

 I still have trouble believing this is "work"

Wishing you a fantastic trip filled with sunshine and fun!

Here's hoping for sunshine! Weather report is showing scattered T-storms for Orlando & the Bahamas for my whole trip, I hope they're very scattered!

Bendy, DH just came home and said it looks like we're going to F&W Oct 23 -26/27th because he's going for a conference then :cool1: I'll let you know for sure as soon as I know for sure :thumbsup2

I would choose Chefs de France... hands down.
