Before you freak out! This is the real deal. I kid you not:

don't ask me why I know these things.... :rotfl:

P.S. Hi TarzanKat! And TDCNala... I thought I recognized that name!

Wow....just wow...I have no other words.:rotfl2:

It is a little cloudier here this morning, but here is what I see from my bedroom deck today:

In keeping with the "theme" of this thread I figured I would let you all know what delightful beverages and foods we have had so far:

Open House Punch (Southern Comfort, OJ, Lemonade, lemon juice and 7-up) ~ we keep a pitcher of this in the refrigerator 24/7

Red Sangria ~ see above

White Sangria ~ also see above

Vodka Slush ~ in the freezer, not the fridge (Vodka, Limeade, OJ, 7-Up)

Wine ~ we brought a case...

Beer ~ see above

Shrimp, crab, asparagoose, corn, tomatoes, steaks... not too many exciting foods, but we don't seem to notice. ;)

Elin, are you on the VA coast? I'm down here in the Piedmont NC area, and judging by that pic I think the storm that just came through here might be headed your way. But it sounds like you are well provisioned to wait it out! We do the same thing on our beach week during the 4th of July....except in our case it's a commercial grade frozen margarita machine running 24/7!:rotfl:

A COMMERCIAL GRADE MARGARITA MACHINE??????

Oh WOW... puts my 30 year old blender to shame... :lmao:

Gosh, I have not posted here in a while, and I miss out on so much!

I see a banana in desperate need of a...er....hammock... ;)

And Brenda has shingles??? I'm sorry to hear that, doll. Here's another hug.

I made a very rudimentary mascot for the F&WF trip. He's hiding in my signature. Yes, Heimlich from "A Bug's Life". And if I had any skill in graphic design, he wouldn't look like that.

I'm not sure where I am going to eat other than Toddy's Place. But visions of V&A and Bistro de Paris keep popping in my head. As well as visions of the California Grill report MickeyNicki did. :cloud9: Since I did California Grill last time, I just want to return to some of my other favorite places! Or at least try the Wave or Sanaa...or better still.....Kouzzina!

I've also planned a trip in 2010 already. I'm going on the DIS podcast cruise next Dec 12-16, 2010.

And I get to hear about Catherine's experiences at the NY festival firsthand. I can't wait to see the inevitable pictures. Woohoo!

I went out to dinner with "the girls" on Saturday, and I had a drink that was labeled as some "X-Rated Martini", due to passion fruit stuff in it. I tasted that and coconut and rum, and it had a creaminess. Maybe there was coconut milk in it, too. It was VERY tasty. As was my spicy avocado chicken, and the ginormous chocolate cake. The cake was a bit dry, but the frosting was good. But it had a slight sour cream flavor to it. Still the best part of the cake, though.

We'll have to talk about the podcast cruise... if I make it back from the TA... I might make it...

And we Michele's need to stick together :thumbsup2

I'll get out the velcro... :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Sounds like my kind of vacation! :thumbsup2 I guess I missed where you are vacationing - Outer Banks, maybe?

I'm thinking closer to Folly Beach... or at least that's the only place I'VE been down there... :goodvibes

Hey Brenda, you ok there in Stinktown? Haven't floated away? Just check in and let us know you have your floaties & swim goggles :goodvibes

A raft perhaps with a mini bar?

Yesterday... the skies opened... we got hail... (I had a "Little House on the Praire" moment yesterday.... "Pa... the Crops" over my garden...) but after all was said and done... we got this...

After the rain.... the rainbow....

I'm starting to think our crew might have to start an AA chapter online. Of course that's after F&W and Bendy's meet. ;)

A COMMERCIAL GRADE MARGARITA MACHINE??????

Oh WOW... puts my 30 year old blender to shame... :lmao:

Yup...just like the one that provides us with those yummy slushies at the France pavilion! In our defense....there are 8 adult members of our family that stay at our house during the week of the 4th...and about another 4 to 6 adults that stay at a hotel close by, and hang at the house all day and night. We had 3 blenders going non-stop making margaritas until they started smoking! We all had fond memories of a trip to Beaches resort where we could order margaritas and pina coladas out of those machines with no wait....so we searched E-bay and voila! We fill up one side filled with tequila goodness for the adults, and the other side usually has non-alcoholic strawberry dacquiries for the kiddies (there are usually 8 to 10 of them around as well).

Heather (and everyone else)... we are in Kill Devil Hills, NC on the Outer Banks, also known as OBX.

Here is my recipe for Open House Punch; there are many of them out there but this is my favorite. It can also be made with good bourbon!

Open House Punch

2 1/2 c. Southern Comfort or good bourbon
6 oz. can of frozen OJ (thawed and undiluted)
12 oz. can of frozen lemonade (thawed and undiluted)
2/3 c. lemon juice
3 liters of lemon lime soda
ice
mint sprigs
lemon slices

Combine liquor and juices stirring well. Add soda and ice and garnish (if desired). We put the first 4 ingredients in a pitcher in the refrigerator and chill very well. Then, when we are ready to drink we add the chilled soda and no garnish. (We are too busy drinking to make it pretty...)

Vodka Slush

6 oz. can of frozen OJ (thawed and undiluted)
12 oz. can of frozen lemonade (thawed and undiluted)
12 oz. can of frozen limeade (thawed and undiluted)
1 cup sugar
3 1/2 cups water
2 cups vodka
2 liter bottle of lemon-lime soda

Combine first 6 ingredients, mixing well. Freeze for 48 hours, stirring occasionally. For each serving spoon 3/4 cup frozen mixture into a tall glass; fill with soda. Serve at once!

TigerKat, was I reading correctly that Citrico's will be a new experience for you? If so, I can't recommend it highly enough. I've had several wonderful meals there. I'm particularly fond of the filet. :thumbsup2

TRAVELMEL!!!! Bringing the blue banana wherever you go, I see. :lmao:

Yes, we're really excited to try it. The entire menu looks really good!

I may not be posting often this week, darn auditors have shown up at work.:headache: AND I'm working on student loans for DS's sophomore year.:headache:

Y'all try and behave yourselves!;)

Both of these sound great, we'll definitely try them out. Thanks for posting the recipes.

I love the sorbet for dessert as well. It's yummy. :thumbsup2

Behave?

Do I have to?

Good luck at work!

Ok, who is online playing with the Disney dining reservations? That would be me, raising my hand! It's so interesting what pops up available sometimes!

Michelle, that's a beautiful rainbow you got in exchange for your garden!

I thought that looked like an Outer Banks view....our beach house is a little further down in the SOBX (Southern Outer Banks for everyone else reading....apparently being south of the real Outer Banks is their only claim to fame.)

Thanks for the recipes!

sogtown checking in ... crazy weather the last couple of days. I think we must have gotten 5-6 inches of rain in the last 24 hours. The garden likes it but now we're going from a cold Spring that never really warmed up properly to sub-Tropical ... highs of 95 for the next couple of days.

stinktown weather stinks. :rotfl2:

Thanks to TDC_Nala, I have new signature art. I had to scale it down a bit to fit it in, but here they are in bigger forms:

Way better than my version. :worship:

I just love him, and that "perspective" reference from the movie. :worship:

And my favorite character in Sleeping Beauty. I asked for this one for a drinking around the world thing I'm doing in December. :worship:

Thanks, Catherine. You rock; I'm not worthy. :worship:

Lori those are too cool!

If I knew how to do stuff like that I would make one of Homer Simpson with his mouth wide open so that his teeth are showing... like he's getting ready to take a bite out of something. And in his hands he would be holding the Epcot golfball, getting ready to take a bite out of it and underneath it would read: Try and Stop Us - Food & Wine 2009!
