Bendy-Friendie Bad Booze Alert!!!

I meant to post this earlier in the weekend (which is now gone ... ) but I forgot. Don't feel bad ... I've forgotten most of last week, including the loan request I brought home to work on that's now staring forlornly up at me from my shoulder bag.

Anyhoo ... never let it be said that Bendy isn't looking out for her friendies. Friday afternoon all I could think of was getting home and relaxing with a nice, soothing beverage. I desperately wanted some Irish Cream, but not any cream would do. I wanted O'Mara's (thanks alot Epcot ... it's all your fault!).

For some reason known only to the local purveyors of liquor, no one in St. Louis carries O'Mara's.

Bailey's?

Check.

Anything else?

Not so much.

I found something Friday that I thought might fit the bill and since it was only $10 I took a risk and brought home a bottle of Irish Manor Irish Cream Liqueur. According to the label not only is it imported from the Emerald Isle, but it's Legendary.

It's now legendary in our house, too.

Legendarily bad.

It's awful ... even over ice. It doesn't just taste like burning but it feels like burning. And it doesn't play nicely with others, either.

In a nutshell ... don't go there. Stick with Bailey's or for gawd's sake buy a case of O'Mara's.

TigerKat, thanks for posting the bread pudding recipe...I made a chocolate one a while back, but I think I would like this better. We made a whiskey sauce for the regular chocolate, but I bet the rum is devine with this white chocolate. Yummy!

Checking in... I have kept up with all that is going on (welcome to our new posters! and I am glad you are feeling a little better, Brenda). I am not going to post a lot for a few days as this was my view from the deck this morning. I am a little preoccupied...

Since this is the place to put drinks I will post that I have tried to recreate the "painkiller," a drink I had in the Virgin Islands last month.

It calls for orange juice and mango juice. What I have used is Trader Joe's orange/mango/peach juice as they were unfortunately out of Orange Mango Blast.

Shake that with a shot of rum and a shot of Trader Joe's (or anybody else's) Light Coconut Milk.

Will probably recreate more on Friday night.

Oh, to live in a world where I could say something like this! My version of this would be more like "the kids and I have been on the road to Target and the grocery store. Enjoying the chicken nuggets and juice boxes!"

Mount Gay Eclipse. In VI they use Cruzan.

Yeah, um, I had some of those at a friend's house last summer--they do not kill the pain you have the next morning! We added a splash of pineapple juice to it, too. Oy, the headache! My BFF, who used to be a bartender, said it was from our blood sugar dropping over night after such sugary drinks (tip: don't mix dark rum and pineapple juice!)
