Belle bus?

So this is probably a very silly question...

My friends and I pick up a shuttle back to our hotel (Courtyard Mariott Lake Buena Vista) in the bus parking at the TTC, and we got there and had to wait for a half hour for the bus. While we were there waiting, we noticed a Disney bus (or multiple; I couldn't tell if it was the same bus or different ones) marked as "Belle" in the area that would tell you where the bus was going to.

Does anyone know what this means? My two friends and I were just super-curious!

Not exactly, but the best I can do is Belle = "undefined". They (and it was most likely multiple buses) were either for some special event, or they were 'spare' buses that Transportation could dispatch as needed.

Belle is just the latest of the Marque designations that Disney uses to indicate that the bus is "out of service" or not picking up guests. Some other recent designations have been Stitch, Aristocats, Remy, Snow White, to name a few.

There could be many reasons a bus driver will override the computer generated marque. In the case of the OP, the charter bus lot at TTC is used by buses, from all parks, to perform their safety inspections before the bus is shut down for the night. An AK or EPCOT driver, for example, after their last run, will have AK or EPCOT on their marque. They will not want to give the false impression that they are headed to those locations and have guests walk over and get on their bus or have a valid complaint that "An AK bus drove right by me and did not pick me up".

Another reason that a driver may put Belle on the marque is after the park that the bus is assigned to has closed for the night and the bus may be bypassing some of the bus stops in a multi stop resort like PO or CBR. For the record when a park closes the driver is not permitted to pick up guests going to that park

That's sort of what I figured! Thank you so much! We thought we'd missed our hotel shuttle so we were stuck waiting until 11:15 for the last one... we read every single bus that drove by and saw so many Belle buses.
