Excellent posts! If someone posts that a person has a problem if that person can't go without drinking then what is that problem if not a dependency of some kind? It's all the same as far as I can see.

We go every year and Epcot is our hands down favorite park. I have never seen drunk people walking around.

I was at Epcot on the evening of Saturday Oct 23 and it was pretty disgusting. It was very crowded and there were many people who were very drunk. We rode the boat in Mexico and the boat in front of us and the boat behind were filled with adults screaming. Someone must have thrown up in the boat ahead of us because after the emptied out, the cm put an orange cone on it and let it pass through the platform without reloading. I think they had too much in the Tequila Bar (which was crowded).

I personally Drink.. a LOT( quitre sure most of you who have made comments about 'if ya can't skip a day yer a drunken slob of an alchy who should be locked up woudl be mortally offended at the amount of wine I can consume in a sitting) and my world is not in turmoil cuz the park is dry. hell most of the time it's too bloody hot and humid to be drinking much anyway. Dehydratyion is NOT your friend.

it's actually one of the reasons we don't do Food and wine any more.. can't enjoy the stuff enough to appreciate it.

That beings said.. nothing peeves me off more than all those " WDW is AAAALL about da KIDZ and NUTTIN BUT da KIDZ " and any thing that infringes on their wittle precious sensibiltiies is ebil and must be stopped.

WRONG. Walt, Bless him forever, wanted ADULTS AND CHILDREN to be able to EQUALLY enjoy themselves. My enjoying a bottle with dinner is not going to scar your kids for life. What will scar him for life is me running him over in my chair because he insisted on stopping.dead.in.his.tracks. right in front of me. those little metal footpedals leave a nasty gouge...

While we are a family who do enjoy libations....in the proper circumstances....I also have to agree we like MK just the way it is......Walt did not want alcohol served there and that's the way it should remain......forever and ever. I also agree with OP who made a statement about the amount of drinking at Epcot, especially during F & W on a weekend.....DH and I were at F & W this year from 10/20 thru 10/24.......spent the entire day ....into the evening ....at WS.....on 10/21....was great.....very manageable crowds.....didn't notice any rowdy drunks. We also spent a good part of the day on Friday 10/22, but, noticed a distinct difference by late afternoon.....lots of drunks. Saturday we only spent a short part of late afternoon at Epcot.....we were attending one of the food presentations at 5:00 p.m......and afterward were planning to walk WS and then watch Illuminations.......not a chance......it was absolutely disgusting.......very crowded with a huge amount of drunks wandering around. We left thru the International Gateway, walked over to BW and took the bus to MK and watched Wishes instead. We've decided when we attend F & W in the future.......we will arrive on a Sunday and depart on a Thursday.

Sounds like it was not very pleasant. We have run into drunk people as well when we went to Epcot. We have decided to skip EMH from now on in the evenings at Epcot because it is all we were coming across. We followed behind many who left a train of alcohol smell. Loud and drunk was not something we enjoyed so we just skip nights at Epcot now.

There's always the option of enjoying an early morning stroll through the lobby of your resort with a brewsky! Walt wanted it that way.

what time is YOUR morning? the thread you are referring to talked about a couple dads having a beer at 10 am. a lot of hard working men are used to being awake at 4 AM! so, 10 AM is like 2 PM for them.) like for those who normally start their day at 8 AM. and these guys are on vacation, and worked their butts off, to bring their family on vacation.
and, given the time dif. you have a problem with them having a few beers on vacation? they were probably awake for hours... trying NOT to wake the rest of the family(since ususally they are out of the house , miles away, working their BUTTS off, before the rest of the family usually wakes up).. they have probably have 3 cups of coffee by now, read the WHOLE newspaper, the family is finally ready to get up.. and YOU begrudge them a lousy beer? on a vacation they worked all year for?: because YOU have arbitrarily decided (10 AM, Florida time) is too early to enjoy a legal adult beverage?
personally, I work 2nd shift. my morning is NOT YOUR morning. 3rd shift workers... NO ONE respects them. BUT! you WANT them, if you have an emergency.. or even if you want a cup of coffee at 4 am... THEN.. you want them
but it's OK to offer Bloody Marys? or mamosa? at brunch?

EPCOT" used to be EPCOT CENTER: was supposed to be: Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow.".. a place where people could live and work and play.

"purists" can say whatever they want, but the corporation will go with the "bottom line".

WDW is a family destination. there are MANY types of families. WDW has advertised to adult families, as many others. it is not , and has NOT been, for many years, for families with children only. the Disney Corporation has aggressively advertised for adults.

as long as alcohol is not allowed in Mk, that is fine. but those who CHOOSE to voice their opinion otherwise....
does NOT mean they can't have fun.. are alcoholics...can't last a day without booze... etc etc. is ridiculous.

in my 18 trip s to the world, the only time I EVER saw a problem with booze is at Pat OBriens' at City walk (Universal)/ and it was taken care of in about 15 minutes! tops!

I choose not to drink. I enjoy having a park where you don't have to put up with folks who don't know when to stop. Yes people who don't know when to say when can still show up there, but the fact that they can't get any more when they do show up tend to discourage those types and at the very least doesn't add to the problem. Again, by "those types" I mean those who don't know when to stop and keep drinking in public until they're rude and puking.

I am just as entitled to my opinion as all the people who want alcohol to be served at the MK.

It is a magical place with definitely a different feel than the other parks. In my opinion adding alcohol to the equation takes it one step further away from that magic.

Flame away. Put me in my place. Make sure you grind it in so I feel bad while your at it.

I know you can buy alcohol at HS and AK but no one is complaining about that...only Epcot which is apparently over run by drunk millionaires (being a millionaire is the only way you could afford to be drunk at Epcot!)

I remember a post from someone who was horrified to see a guy walking around DHS carrying a beer...they had no idea that alcohol was served in any park but Epcot and thought that because it's Disney there should be no alcohol served in ANY park. I'm OK with the dry MK, I get the whole Walt thing, but I'm not behind a dry Disney. It's not just for kids.

I've had a drink with dinner before at WDW - love those glow cubes! But Epcot is the only place I've ever had a drink out and about, not at a meal. On two occasions I've had a Grand Marnier slushy at the France Pavilion - and they were divine!

I'm sorry some people have been subjected to obnoxious drunks at Epcot. I don't remember having seen any drunks in the parks (though on my first on-property stay at WDW, I was on a 2:30 AM bus back from Pleasure Island FULL of drunks - when everyone spontaneously broke into "You Lost That Loving Feeling" - actually, that is one of my favorite Disney Memories...but I digress).

As I was saying, I don't remember having my day dampened by any obnoxious drunks at any of the parks. As far as I know, all the extremely obnoxious people I've had the misfortune to witness were stone cold sober.

People don't need mind altering substances to be major jerks.

What makes you think no alcohol in MK equates to no drunks in the park? The drunkest people I ever saw anywhere in the greater Orlando area were in the Magic Kingdom in January 2009. It was a middle aged couple. The man had a flask that he and his wife were taking swigs from. I'm sure they were drunk before they got to the park too. They were being loud and obnoxious and kept shouting "Julie! Julie! Where are you?" over and over again and laughing loudly each time. We saw them outside the entrance to Buzz Lightyear and then again later near the hub.

You don't prevent behavior like that by ensuring Liberty Tree Tavern has no beer.

The folks who don't know when to stop are still in Magic Kingdom -- they just got drunk before entering the park.

Care to provide some evidence to back that statement? It does not follow. Alcohol is served at Animal Kingdom, DHS and Epcot. In all the times I've been to those parks, I haven't ever been in a situation or seen anybody else that made me think serving alcohol there was a mistake.
