Beer at Magic Kingdom

Maybe the restaurants in the MK would improve if they served alcohol! While not a necessity, it surely would be nice to have a glass of wine with dinner. Or a cocktail before.

The train of thought that everyone who enjoys a drink with dinner must be an alcoholic annoys the heck out of me!

One of the things that impressed me about Busch Gardens is that even though it's sponsored by a beer company, there were only a few, off-the-beaten-path places to get beer. I'm glad MK is dry.

Not anymore -- after they bought Anheuser-Busch, InBev sold off the Busch parks to a large-ish holding company, and management is now incorporated as "SeaWorld Entertainment."

And even if the food stayed the same, after a drink or two, everything looks/feels/tastes better...

There is no beer/alcohol at Magic Kingdom.

I don't think that's going to change anytime soon--it was one of Walt Disney's edicts: No alcohol in Magic Kingdom.

Way to go Walt :thumbsup2. MK is a "Family" park, that's why there will never be alcohol sold there. It is the only "dry" port in the entire World and we hope it always stays that way.:yay:

Amen! And if you can't make it through one day without it, you've got a problem, anyway. :thumbsup2

Epcot has lost some of its shine for me due to so many drunks walking around. Not a pleasant atmosphere some of the time.

Thank God they don't serve alcohol there. It makes me sick that people can't go anywhere without drinking or thinking about alcohol.

I agree MK should be kept dry as it was Walt's desire for it to be that way.

Exactly. I fervently hope we never see the day.

Me and my boyfriend shared a bottle of wine in one of the restaurants in Disneyland Paris Park for lunch. I do enjoy a nice glass of wine. I definately don't drink every day, but on vacation I like to enjoy myself as I'm sure many others do. To clarify, I enjoy a nice drink, but I do not need alcohol to do enjoy myself. We were not drunk - dont think i could stomach big thunder mountain if I was!

I respect the US parks for abiding by Walts wishes and feel this is good enough reason enough not to sell alcohol in the Magic Kingdom.

It is unfortunate that a minority of people who get unruly / drunk give a bad name to the majority of people who are just having a good time and so happen to be drinking an alcoholic drink.

Why?

I like a drink but don't need a drink to enjoy myself and can't see why a theme park with rides would need alcohol with the propensity for it to induce sickness.

One of the many reasons that the MK is magical is we can begin our kids and not worry about the drunks...EI the food and wine at Epcot!.......get with the times???......NO way!

If you need a drink that bad......you need to go get dryed out.

AKK

I'm fine with the idea of enjoying a cocktail or glass of wine with lunch/dinner. I don't drink very often at all, but when you're on vacation it is a nice luxury once in awhile. Kind of like dessert - not necessary, but it's a nice treat.

It also heavily bothers me that people who enjoy a glass of wine with dinner are looked down upon and regarded as drunks. Yes, there are a few of those, but that doesn't mean every person who has a glass is automatically a drunk. :sad2: very judgemental

There is nothing wrong with keeping Magic Kingdom the way Walt Disney intended.

There are more than enough options for an alcoholic beverage elsewhere on property;)

Judgmental much? :confused3

So each princess will have a separate line? I guess that means my picture from 2 years ago with my girls and all 3 princess together is something that I won't ever repeat.

According to previous info the princess meet and greet areas in the new construction have been scrapped by Disney. So the labeling of the photo may no longer be correct.

Look: Walt wanted it Dry,'K? I have no issue with that at all since there are multiple other areas in and aroun the parks to tie one on if ya want.

I personally Drink.. a LOT( quitre sure most of you who have made comments about 'if ya can't skip a day yer a drunken slob of an alchy who should be locked up woudl be mortally offended at the amount of wine I can consume in a sitting) and my world is not in turmoil cuz the park is dry. hell most of the time it's too bloody hot and humid to be drinking much anyway. Dehydratyion is NOT your friend.

it's actually one of the reasons we don't do Food and wine any more.. can't enjoy the stuff enough to appreciate it.

That beings said.. nothing peeves me off more than all those " WDW is AAAALL about da KIDZ and NUTTIN BUT da KIDZ " and any thing that infringes on their wittle precious sensibiltiies is ebil and must be stopped.

WRONG. Walt, Bless him forever, wanted ADULTS AND CHILDREN to be able to EQUALLY enjoy themselves. My enjoying a bottle with dinner is not going to scar your kids for life. What will scar him for life is me running him over in my chair because he insisted on stopping.dead.in.his.tracks. right in front of me. those little metal footpedals leave a nasty gouge...

First of all, you are way too judgemental of people and I don't know why you think you have the right to be this way.

Second, theme park employees who serve alcohol all take responsible vending classes that prevent drunkeness by limiting drinks served, looking for fake ID's, and most importantly, cutting people off that are drunk.

I've never drank anything at Disney, but I still feel like its not fair for anyone to call a person enjoying a beer a drunk--if I see someone with a Coke, I dont assume they're addicted to caffeine:confused3

There's always the option of enjoying an early morning stroll through the lobby of your resort with a brewsky! Walt wanted it that way. :)

Seems like you have had your wine sitting already today. :rotfl:

I don't have a problem with people liking beer or a shot or two, but it just seems excessive to me. Not in the sense that you think it is more of the idea of the energy expanded to have one that is hard for me to wrap my head around.

I won't carry water into the parks because the idea of dragging around those bottles to save $1.50 or 2.00 or whatever just isn't worth it to me. If it meant that I didn't have to carry around the excess baggage I could surely do without it for a day. Actually, a part of the day because I am not going to be there for 24 hours, so it is just a few hours.

I love Pepsi, but I am not so into it that I would carry some in just so I didn't have to have Coke.

I also think it is more of the principle...children and alcohol don't mix. Buzzed adults and children do not mix. Even if you think that you can hold your alcohol the chances are pretty good that your personality changes when it is introduced. To paraphrase Walt Disney...I just feel that there should be one place where children and parents can go and not have alcohol influence the outcome of the day.

I take both sides of this fence. I think that the MK should remain alcohol free if you need a drink its a short ride to one of the resorts for a beer or drink. But Disney is meant for everyone including those with no children. My parents when they retired loved spending weeks at Disney during the winter months so I believe that they also need to cater to that part of their cliental. I think that majority of adults know when enough is enough and for those who don't I point them out to my children "that is why you need to wait until you are old enough and do things in moderation other wise you look like the fool" .

The MK in DL has a bar its Club 33 http://www.disneylandclub33.com/ so Walt couldn't have been that opposed to it.

I have no problem with no alcohol being sold at MK.
it's true, there are places within walking distance you can get a drink.
that being said, (yes, I know there are dissers who don't like that phrase.. oh well).. just because some people would like to enjoy a drink , and make their preference known does NOT mean they need it, or can't have fun without it.

I just wanted to defend those who wished it was served. it doesn't make them alcoholics. they are entitled to their opinion.

I really don't think it will be,though. just playing "devil's advocate" here (pun intended):)

:thumbsup2
Thank you!!
