Becky & Jason's Fairy Tale wedding 9/3/11 on Long Island - *complete*

I don't think a shirt and tie will be too informal for the kiddies. My 7 year old brother will be my rb and he will be in a shirt and tie. But then again my wedding will be in the morning and in the summer time!! :confused3
Okay so not much help there... :rotfl: love the ideas on the escort cards. You can really go both ways with wither the story book or the library cards since they go so well with your theme! I am very excited to see what you choose and how it turns up, since I am sure it will be wonderful!!!! :goodvibes

So I had a good Easter, hope you all did too! The Easter Bunny still brings me a basket at my parents' house, filled with goodies - I got the Tangled DVD and a Mickey Mouse shirt! It was a little small though, so my mom was going to exchange it but they didn't have a larger size. Instead she got a Lady and the Tramp tee, which I haven't seen yet but I'm sure it's cute... just hope it fits! She knows I'm trying to lose weight so she got me those things instead of a lot of candy, and I prefer this anyway :thumbsup2

Ring Bearer Outfits

We have been trying to decide what the ring bearers should wear for the wedding. We know that we don't want to put them in tuxes, because it's a bit too formal and they're 5, I just don't think they'd be comfortable or like it very much. Any good places to get a little suit? Or other suggestions... is a shirt and tie too informal for them? We are paying for their outfits because unfortunately my uncle (their dad) passed away a year and a half ago, and my aunt was a stay at home mom, so money has been tight for them. Hoping to find something reasonably priced but I also don't know when to buy... I don't want to wait too long but they're also growing pretty quickly so I don't want to buy too soon either! Any advice?

Try Burlington Coat Factory. They often have cute suits (especially around Easter) for little boys and have very reasonable prices. If you would be happy with slacks, long sleeve button down shirt, vest and tie (without a coat) go look at JCPenney's...you can usually get them there for $19-25. I have a 4 year old and he loves wearing a "tie" and getting dressed up. I know that may be unusual for a little boy but he looks great even in just a vest and tie outfit.

Index

So if you go to the front page of my PJ, I decided to index all of the important posts. If you're curious to see anything specific again, or you're tuning in for the first time, that's the place to go :)

Some other news... I bought some candy for the candy buffet! Target had Easter candy on sale, and they had Hershey kisses in blue wrappers that were only $1.44 for a bag, so I bought all the bags that they had (5), which was about 2.5 pounds. I think I had figured out that I would need about 5 lbs of each candy, so I'm just going to mix them with the regular silver wrapper kisses (fits my colors perfectly!). So I was pretty excited about that!

Another great Target find - I got some hand lotion for my bridesmaids, since I was planning to make them a small spa bag as a gift. They were large lotion bottles... and ended being only 50 cents each! I love Target! the cashier said it was really good stuff too, it smells good and she uses it all the time.

But speaking of bridesmaids... I now have a small amount of bridesmaid drama. First, my sister won't order her dress until the absolute last minute because she really wants to lose weight. She's going to wait until June 3rd (3 months before the wedding). I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be enough time.

Also, my bridesmaid that is living in France sent me this long email about how she's so worried about finding a new job and her money situation. She ended the email by saying "hopefully I'll be able to afford a flight to the wedding." I do not like that word hopefully! :scared1: I understand that things are hard, but I made it really clear from the beginning that I didn't expect her to say her to being in the bridal party, but I asked her because she's such a close friend and she decided that she really wanted to do it. Also, in the same email she was talking about looking to buy a house in France with her boyfriend, and buying a car. :confused3 She already bought her dress. We're only 4 months away. I just hope she knows soon so I know one way or the other.

But some good news that I don't think I mentioned is that when I went home for Easter, I tried on my dress again. And it fit much better! Even though I only lost about 8 pounds, I'm so happy that it did make a difference. The zipper went up a lot easier than last time ;) Now I just have to work at maintaining this weight, but it makes me feel a lot better :goodvibes

Thanks for your opinions! I'll definitely try Burlington, there's one nearby. And JC Penney's is a good idea, it's nice to hear that their prices are so reasonable!

Oof! I meant to reply to your bridesmaid drama on my thread, but forgot so I'll do it here instead. I really hope your other bridesmaid can come!!! I wouldn't stress SO much about your sister--- from everything I've read, a lot of times bridesmaid dresses come in really quickly. Are you going to give French Bridesmaid a deadline to decide or something? I think that's what I would do. I know it would be tricky, but I think it's what you'll have to do! :( :grouphug:

Congrats on your weight loss and getting the dress to fit! Any tips? The weight I lost has been creeping back on, due to me being stressed.

I would think June 3rd would be close enough, but can't she order and then have it altered?

I am sorry to hear about your bridesmaid drama, friend:hug: Sounds similar to some issues that I had with BMs being particular, you just have to stay strong. Hopefully your friend from France with be able to go as far as the other one you need to express to her that dresses are custom made and take time to order. One of my BM's waited until the last minute and held back everyone's order. They got them just about a week ago and we ordered them from Alfred Angelo the first week of January:scared1: I don't think she would have ordered at that time either, but I threated her with rush charge figures and needless to say she came around:rolleyes1...:rotfl: Just express to her your concerns it will be ok. I CAN'T BELIEVE YOUR WEDDING IS SO CLOSE! 4 months wow, you must be super excited. I can't wait to see all you girls' wedding pictures :)

Sorry to hear about your sister and bridesmaid situation. It's never easy with having to deal with and keep the bridesmaid happy and drama free (as you prob know i've been through it too many times already) :rotfl2:

I wish you luck and hope your friend will be able to make it down, did she book her flight yet?? She should start pricing them out because it's better to get flights sooner than later.

I also plan on doing a spa basket/bag for my girls!! I found a few fun things at michaels too for $1.00.

I finally read your whole PJ and I must say we have lots in common! I'm also doing each table a different centerpiece that relates to the Fairytale/Disney movie it was named after... We'll deff have to share ideas!

My fiance and I are having an at home Disney wedding as well... and its on Long Island! But our wedding is 9-2-11... super close!

We're both young as well (I'm 22, he's 21)... but hey! When you know, you know and I know we're meant to be together.

Can't wait to read more!

Haha, it wouldn't be a wedding without some bridesmaid drama, right? As for my sister, I'm not super worried - the only thing I've been concerned about is how flaky David's Bridal has been about the deadlines. I went with my sister to try on the dress, and they told her the last possible date would be June 3rd. But then my MOH reports to me that when she went to get her dress they told her everyone should order by March 17th! That seemed pretty early to me, though. Then a few days ago I got a call from David's Bridal, telling me that no everyone in the bridal party has ordered their dresses yet and I should tell them to do it ASAP. Whatever, I'm sure 3 months will be plenty of time, right? :confused3

As for the girl in France, I guess I'm just going to make it really clear to her that I need to know what's going on one way or the other. She seems really excited about the wedding though, so I'm hoping she'll able to work it out, but obviously I do need to know that soon... I'm trying to think when I'll have to print programs, I would definitely need to know before then! So maybe I'll tell her that she needs to let me know what's going on within the next month. Thanks for the support!

Thanks! I've been using sparkpeople.com to track my fitness and calorie intake, which really helps me know what I'm eating. Some foods have way more calories than I ever would have suspected, and others have a lot less. I'm also doing the Couch to 5K program, I think you can google it to find it, which helps you jog/run but you work your way up. It's worked really well for me, I'm up to jogging 2 miles a day now and I was a person who would never, ever liked to run or jog and absolutely dreaded having to do it in gym class in high school. Though I've sort of plateaued on my weight, but I guess that's okay since I'm at a decent weight. I would like to lose 5 more pounds but it's just not budging! As long as I can maintain this for the wedding I'll be very happy...

And yeah, she's going to have to have the dress altered anyway, so I'm not quite sure why. I think she had visions of losing a lot of weight (like 40 pounds). She had done it once before, but it's been much more difficult this time around and she's only lost about 5 now. They even told her that she could order the dress in her current size, and call in to do a size exchange up until June 3rd... not sure why she didn't do that!! Once June 3rd comes around I won't have to worry anymore though :woohoo:

My wedding is close... but yours is even closer! I can't believe you're only a few weeks away now!! I'm so excited for you and wish I could be there!

Haha yeah, there's always got to be some sort of drama! She hasn't bought a flight yet, and I'm worried if she keeps putting it off she'll end up deciding not to come, because it's only going to get more expensive.

I went to Michael's and got the spa stuff there too... and it was on sale for 60 cents each! :woohoo: Can't really beat that. I'm probably going to make a post later with some of the goodies I found.

I finally read your whole PJ and I must say we have lots in common! I'm also doing each table a different centerpiece that relates to the Fairytale/Disney movie it was named after... We'll deff have to share ideas!

We really do have a lot in common! That's crazy, you're the day before me! Do you have a PJ ? If not, maybe you should start one - I'd love to read details about your day! Where on Long Island are you from and where are you having the wedding? (If you want to PM me instead of posting here feel free!)

GL with the Bridesmaid Drama! I hope everything works out!! Or at least you find out soon if she won't be able to make it!! Here's hoping she can!! :wizard:

Congrats on the weight loss!! :thumbsup2

Thanks, I'm really hoping she can make it too! You know, in a lot of ways this is about more than just the wedding... she was originally only supposed to be in France for one or two years as an exchange program type thing. But from what she's saying it really sounds like she's planning to move there permanently, which is sad for me. I'm glad she likes it but I miss my friend :sad2:

Shopping - Bridesmaid Gifts and Centerpiece Items

So I went to do some shopping at Michael's, and found some amazing deals while I was there. The majority of stuff that I got was on sale, and then I had a 10% off coupon for my entire order, including sale items. I picked up a few more things for the centerpieces:

The basket is for Little Red Hiding Hood (about two dollars), and the lantern is to represent Tink's lantern for the Peter Pan table (also about two dollars). The pez dispenser is not for the wedding, but for me ;) I have all of the Disney princesss pez dispensers, plus a Mickey and a Minnie, but I didn't have Tiana... and I finally found her! I'm not sure they make a Tangled one yet, but if they do then I'll have to get Rapunzel as well.

I also got some stuff for the bridesmaids gift bags:

P1040166.jpg

I decided to make spa bags, and Michael's had some great stuff for that. They have a number of spa items that are $1 each, so I got a few of them. Well, turns out that they were on sale too, so each item was only 60 cents! (Can you tell I'm really excited about the deals I got?) And then, in the clearance section, I found those cute metal signs. They were marked as 25 cents each, and I figured you can't beat that. Then she rings them up at the cash register, and they come up at 1 cent each. Seriously. Haha, I was in shock... they're actually pretty nice quality. The only problem is that I bought the five that they had - three said "Friends" and two said "Family." Now, my sister is one of my bridesmaids, so she can be family, but the rest are all friends. Not sure how to deal with this - I may give one of them something else (maybe the MOH), or give one the family sign and tell them that they're like family to me :rotfl: I thought about trying to look at another Michael's, but since they were in clearance and there weren't too many I'm thinking my chances of finding them are slim. But I'm still super happy with what I got!

Ooohhhh great finds!!!! The spa stuff looks really nice; I can't believe it was also 60 cents each. And I reallllly like the little lantern for Tinkerbell. I wonder if you can find a little sparkly light for it or something?? That would be amazing :)

I've been torn on starting one becuase if I'm on the site, I read other people's PJ's about their Disney World weddings then I get insanely jealous and depressed that I'm not having one. BUT maybe I will so that we can compare notes.

and I'm from Shirley... The reception is at the Vineyards in Aquebogue (Riverhead).. here's a link: http://www.vineyardcaterers.com/

How about you? Where is your wedding?

I LOVE Michaels! And sales! All looks fabulous!! =] Can I get a spa bag tooooo?!

Thanks girls, hope they like them!

Yeah, the lantern is so cute! I will have to think about how to best represent "Tinkerbell" in the lantern...

If you start one, I'll definitely read it! You know, I was a little afraid that I would be really jealous too, but I am really happy with my own wedding and I just can't be upset about it! Plus, honestly, reading some of these threads makes me see some of the issues with Disney weddings too - sometimes I'm actually glad I'm not having a Disney wedding...

Your reception venue looks beautiful! That is a really nice area. I'm having my ceremony at my church in Patchogue, and the reception in Farmingdale. It's in a hall owned and run by Special Affairs Caterers.

Ring Bearer Outfits!

So we decided on a ring bearer outfit - thanks to Dolly, who suggested looking into JC Penney! Here is the outfit we picked out:

ringbeareroutfits.jpg

It's not the same blue as my bridesmaids and my official color, more of a lighter blue, but I think it will still go nicely. I'm hoping the flowers will be about that color blue so everything will blend in!
