Jewelry

So I am thinking about what jewelry I want to wear. I would definitely like a nice necklace. I had been looking around for something not too expensive, and the only thing I found that I really liked from the picture was this necklace I found on Amazon:

necklace1.jpg

It looks pretty but I don't like not being able to see it in person. Then when I was with my sister in David's Bridal yesterday I was looking at the jewelry while she was trying on the dress, and they actually had some really nice stuff for really decent prices. There were two necklace/earring sets that caught my eye:

necklace2.jpg

necklace3.jpg

Both are simple, but my dress is kind of simple so I think that would go better. The pearl one looked a little different than this picture, I think it is not the same necklace. The earrings that came with that one were a little more fancy than the ones in this picture, I think they had a string of 3 pearls. And these sets are about half the price of the Amazon necklace.

In terms of earrings, I actually can't usually wear them. I wore them fine for about seven years, and then one day I just had a terrible reaction to earrings... my ear swells up and gets full of pus, and that's not really a wedding day look! I looked for clip ons but it's hard to find nice ones and you can usually see the clip. It looks so tacky. So my dad and I were talking and we are going to try experimenting with magnets. It might work, we shall see, but then I could convert those earrings that come with the necklace into magnetic earrings that I could actually wear.

As for other jewelry, I wasn't thinking of doing much else. I have a headband that I plan to wear with my veil:

I wasn't thinking of a bracelet but I am trying to decide if I want to wear a watch or not. I am obsessed with time and I know that I would go crazy not knowing what time it was that day... won't really have a pocket for my cell phone either, and I don't know if I want to carry around a bag all the time! I do have two very nice watches. One is just a fancy silver watch, the other is actually Disney related. Here it is:

watch.jpg

Except the one that I have is actually all silver. But I just feel like watches look stupid with formal clothes and fancy dresses. I dunno. Maybe I won't wear it for the picture taking session but I'll wear it at the reception?

Any thoughts on jewelry? I may even go to David's Bridal tomorrow, since I think I'll have time, so thoughts now would be appreciated!

I am sure you have figured out what jewelry to wear but i thought I would say I love the first necklace image you have there. But what ever you wear it will be amazing.

I agree with not wearing the watch till the reception... but that would only be my opinion. If you love the watch you should wear it from start to finish! :)

I also LOVE the guest book, I am sure people will sign it... If you have a wedding website then I would suggest showing the cover and maybe one of the inside pages people will know about it and get excited to see more... thusly getting them to sign. (well thats my theory! lol)

I love your guest book!! I also plan on ordering a picture book from our photographers from our e-pics for ours!!

Hey Becky!
Looks like I have missed quite a few updates!!
Emmm... so in no particular order: love the ring boy's outfit you decided on. I think he will look super handsome. Congrats on your future hubby's graduation you must be so proud.. his hard work paid off & the compensation was great. Also awesome that you are now getting a rehearsal dinner... have you figured out where? Not sure if I missed if you made a decision on which one yet. Good finds on your Michaels goodies &&&& your guest book is fantabulous!!!!! :)

One other thing that I forgot to mention about our Disney Honeymoon:

The "Disney Quest"

As we were discussing going to Disney World, Jason and I (well, mostly me) realized that we haven't seen some of the old Disney movies in a long, long time. Even some of the movies that inspired some of the best rides in WDW. So we decided to take part in something I dubbed our "disney quest": we are trying to watch as many animated Disney movies or Disney movies that inspired rides as we can. To keep track I started a blog about it, where I basically just give my opinions on the movies that we watch, as well as a rating out of 10. I'm planning to do some top 10's and stuff. All just my opinion, really (and a little bit of Jason's!), but if you're interested in checking out the blog it's here:

http://beckydisneyquest.blogspot.com/

Love that you are doing this, I quickly stopped by your blog and I am impressed that you are watching a movie every couple of days. I think my DF might get overwhelmed. I have him watching Doctor Who and torchwood, and he still needs to catch up on Chuck too! Add in Disney movies his head may come off! LOL... but I think I still may try!

I love your blue candy buffet. I may have to see if I can some how add that into my wedding! LOVE blue!

Enjoying your PJ... :)

LOVE the guestbook!!! :) Might need to have you teach me a course in Mixbook.... haha since I am also going to be using them for my guestbook!!

Which one did you end up making? How big? How many pages?!

It came out great!!
:goodvibes

Ohmigosh your guestbook is beautiful! Great job! I really like that picture of you two in medieval/renaissance garb--- were you in a play together??? Great work! :)

Thanks! Yeah, we were in a play together... this was actually a production called "The Fountain of Fair Fortune." It was a short, 20 minute rock opera based on the short story in The Tales of Beedle the Bard, by J.K. Rowling. I don't know if you're a Harry Potter fan but if you are then you might know about it. If not you probably have no idea what I'm talking about! :rotfl:

OMG, that looks fabulous! And my monogram! Yay! ha. I'm so glad you love it!

I definitely need to look into that MixBook when it gets close to my wedding!!

Thanks, and the monogram looks so great on the back of the guest book! And definitely use MixBook... I found a 40% off coupon online and saved a lot that way :)

Awww I love that guestbook! It looks amazing!!!

Thank you!!

Love how the little books are turning out:thumbsup2 I love your guestbook!!!! It turned out great!

Thanks! The little books still need some work but I haven't had much time!

I love your guestbook!!!!

Thank you!!

Thanks! Yes, as much as it will drive my crazy, I think I will ditch the watch until the reception. I wore a watch to prom and even though it was a really nice watch, I didn't really like how it looked in pictures with my dress. That's a good idea to put the guest book on the website!

I love your guest book!! I also plan on ordering a picture book from our photographers from our e-pics for ours!!

Hey Becky!

Thank you! We haven't picked a place for the rehearsal dinner yet. My parents promised they were going to look into it, as I'm three hours away... but my mom seems to think that everything to do with the wedding can wait until I get home. Well at that point it will be less than two months away and I really don't want to wait until the last minute to do everything! Hopefully my dad will do something soon, but he's in Florida for the long weekend! Lucky him!

Thanks! Haha yeah, my DF doesn't really watch any TV and very few movies, so I can convince him to put on a Disney movie every few nights. When he was at college I would only see him every few weeks, so now that he's back home I'm trying to get him to watch a Disney movie all the time just so we can get to as many of them as possible! Haha maybe I'm crazy but I'm really enjoying it :rolleyes1

totally love your guest book and all the little quotes in it! SO cute!!!

Thank you! I was starting to run out of quotes that involved romance and fairy tales ;)

LOVE the guestbook!!! :) Might need to have you teach me a course in Mixbook.... haha since I am also going to be using them for my guestbook!!

:goodvibes

Thanks! If you need assistance with Mix Book I will be glad to help! Mine was about 25 pages, and I did the 8 1/2 by 11. I didn't really like any of the pre-created layouts that they had. Well, I did, but I didn't like that you couldn't change the colors. So I started with a completely blank canvas and looked through the other examples they had to get ideas.

Your guestbook came out fabulous. I love it!!!! I love mixbook.

Thank you! MixBook is awesome :)

Rehearsal Dinner Dress!

Today I bought my rehearsal dinner dress. After the night I had last night I needed some retail therapy (I'll explain in the next post) :sad2: So anyway, I was looking for something nice but not to formal, since it's not going to be a big deal. I went to probably 6 or 7 different stores today... and ended up getting my dress in Target, where I only stopped to buy bread! :rotfl:

I think it will also work well if we have the dinner at one of the seafood places, it kind of goes with the theme. There was only one of this dress left, and it was an extra small but amazingly it fit!! I'm usually a small or sometimes a medium, but it's pretty stretchy and it wasn't uncomfortable at all. I was super happy:

I'm going to make another post with a few other updates now :)

Rant

Not really wedding related, but I'm really upset and wanted to get this off my chest. Basically, from the time I started grad school, I've been trying to talk to my advisor about my schedule and figuring everything out. She is the worst advisor ever - she takes days or a week to get back to me, she doesn't answer my question half the time, and never seems to understand what I'm saying. I get frustrated every time I have to talk to her. Basically, to make a long story short, due to her incompetence my schedule got screwed up and I won't be able to graduate when I originally planned. My plan was to graduate in June 2012. Well, with the way things are now because she has no clue what she is doing, it looks like I won't be able to graduate until December 2012. Half a year might not seem like a huge difference, but here's the kicker: my specialization is in school library media, which basically means that I'll be certified to be a school librarian. But if I'm looking for a permanent, full time job, I won't be able to apply until I'm looking for a job for the September 2013 school year. It pushes all of my plans back by a whole year, and if I have to sub for two more years I'm seriously going to lose my mind.

I'm trying to contact some other people at the school to try and get it straightened out, but it seems like the damage has basically been done and I may not be able to fix it. There's a little bit of hope, but it requires the school to be super flexible regarding their requirements and pre-req's. UGH. Jason wants to tell me everything will be okay, and I don't have to sub or work if I don't want to because he'll be backing a good salary and he can support me until I graduate, but I don't really want to do that either. I HATE INCOMPETENT PEOPLE.

Okay, now that's off my chest, on to the good stuff!

Groomsmen Gifts

We ended up going with flasks. There was a great package deal on Amazon for six flasks. They came out nicely. Since we have 5 guys in the bridal party Jason got one too! The engraving is a little hard to see in the picture but it looks nice in person:

Centerpiece item update!

Picked up another small item for the Aladdin centerpiece:

P1040210.jpg

I'm really hoping everything will look nice once it's all put together. I'm worried some tables will look better than others because I have a lot of ideas and items for some tables, but not so much for others. I'll probably be looking for a lot of input once I start the mock ups!

And I found this guy!

P1040209.jpg

He's about two feet tall and I have no idea what I'll do with him! But he was so awesome that at $20 I had to buy him. Haha, I think Jason will like it because it's a little more manly and less Disney-y. I'll probably just put him on the escort card table, dessert table, or something!

Love the rehearsal dress!! It's perfect!
So sorry about school. That's really awful. Sounds like the advisers at my old college. I hope everything works out. I hope you are able to talk to other people and they are able to help you out.... :wizard:
I like the little Aladdin elephant. It fits perfect! And I'm sure you'll find a good use for the little guy... haha!
The flasks came out great!

Your rehersal dress is SO cute! And how perfect that it fit... LOVE when that happens!

Sorry about school! I had a horrible advisor as well! I would ask a question like "What can I do with my degree?" and his answer would be like "What can't you do with it?" I would get SOOOO frustrated because he wouldn't give me a straight answer. I'm sorry you have to graduate later :sad1: Can you ask to switch advisors? or just get advice from another person who actually knows what they are doing?

But here is a hug to make you feel better

and love the new additions to the centerpiece collection :)

First, I just want to say--- THAT SOUNDS LIKE THE COOLEST IDEA FOR A PLAY EVER SRSLY OMG!!!!!!!!!!! (Am I a Harry Potter fan? I used to work on mugglenet!!! I'm pretty sure if you lived in Wisconsin, you would be my new BFF ha!)

And second--- that stinks SO much about your school schedule and whatnot. Fingers crossed that they're flexible for you!!!

BUT, I do love your miniature knight in shining armor, and your rehearsal dinner dress is very cute. I LOVE target!

LOVE your guestbook and rehearsal dinner dress. HATE your advisor and school troubles. I had an advisor like that. Halfway through my college career, I just gave up and asked another professor to help me with all that stuff. Luckily he agreed and was awesome. Hopefully, you can get something worked out.

Thanks for the hug! Unfortunately I can't switch advisors because she is the only one for my concentration. I've tried emailing other people and they just keep re-directing me back to her! :headache: I thought I only had one more year of dealing with this, but now it looks like a year and a half...

But I'm glad you like what I've collected for the centerpieces! I can't wait til I get home for the summer so I can make some mock ups! I'm really looking forward to seeing the rest of yours, I need some inspiration for a few of them :goodvibes

Okay, I am really bummed that we don't live closer together because we definitely would be best friends! One of my good friends works for mugglenet - she was actually on MuggleCast and is good friends with a lot of the people there and I've hung out with them a few times :goodvibes So much fun. The play was really, really awesome - I wish I had video of it but my theatre professor never gave it to me! I'll have to email him sometime and see if he still has it. Last summer I was actually involved in a full length Harry Potter musical called The Final Battle, which is actually like the last two hundred pages of Deathly Hallows. It's on youtube, though the quality isn't that great. It was fun though!

Thanks! Yeah, I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but I'm primarily an online student, so I don't feel like I really know any professors or anyone all that well. Also makes it difficult to get a hold of my advisor since I can't just go to her office for an appointment (unless I want to waste half my day getting to campus and back). But I'm still hoping SOMETHING works out. If worst comes to worst and I end up with two springs off, maybe it will be a good excuse to start working on that young adult novel I've been wanting to write :)
