BCV-- worth the extra $?

We bought BWV because of the theme, have stayed there twice and BCV once... Whole time I was at BCV I felt like a traitor ;)

We believe that the Epcot resort area is more valuable than the other locations, and decided to pay the difference. If Disney could use a little of their magic and plop SSR down on top of the Swan and Dolphin, we'd buy there in a minute.

BTW, Omaha is a very nice place to live and raise a family...

And the Zoo is world class. I hosted a large dinner in the tunnel under the shark exhibit and enjoyed Omaha Steaks while watching the sharks and sting rays swim around us. Good thing we did not order sea food!

To us it is location, location, location. Not only is it a pretty resort (they all are really), we like the fact that it is small and cozy. It is an easy walk to Epcot, our favorite place.

In terms of location you cant go wrong with BWV or BCV.Whoop dee do that BCV is a 3 minute walk closer to Epcot then BWV I really think the one thing that sets BCV over BWV is Stormalong Bay. When people see that, they want to be able to go there. When we were looking I was all about getting a OKW resale due to the price and cheaper maint. fees. Well once we went over and saw Stormalong Bay that made our decision easy.

IMHO, I think the BWV are a better value due to the point cost for the Standard View and having the same location as BCV- Close to MGM & Epcot.

The BCV have a beach feel which is great especially if you do not live on the coast and love the beach. SAB is fabulous and if you don't do the parks that much and love to sit by the pool then BCV is the better place. The BCV is also very relaxing & quiet.

The only thing I didn't like about the BCV is that they seem secluded from the rest of the resort. The pool is not near the villas (where some rooms at the BWV overlook the pool area) After being at the BWV with a boardwalk View I was very disappointed with the views and the lack of action- however to some the lack of action is what they want.

I'll stick to the lower point rooms at the boardwalk and spend more days at Disney!!!
I agree BWV are a better deal. Better views also, in fact some of the best views in Disneyworld.

I own at both BCV & BWVs....If you can book your vacation before the 7 month mark, BCV is worth owning. Otherwise, there are definitely less expensive points and maintenance costs available through the other resorts. I think BWVs & Vero Beaches dues are higher than BCVs. Also, if you plan on vacationing during any time other than later part of December through January, SAB will be a factor especially since it's one of the pools you can't Pool Hop to. I have found it to be too cold to enjoy the pool during the end of December when the temperature can be cold. brrrrr! You won't find a lot of people at the pool during that time of the year at the SAB. Yes, it is heated. Maintenence is performed on half of the pool during the slower booking times.
The BWVs do have some of the best views of the fireworks at Epcot. I will never forget the firework show from our BWV balcony over New Years. It is spectaculor! I haven't stayed at the BWV during any other time.
The Luna Pool at the BWV is nice too. I like the fact that I can see both of my children at the same time! Forget trying to do that at the SAB. There are bridges and rock formations that seperate parts of the pool. Unless, they're in the same location, it can be a chore to keep track of them. I would not be able to relax like I can at the Luna Pool if my kids weren't very good swimmers. My kids also enjoy the downtime at the Community Hall at the BWVs too.
I'll know more if BWV is going to remain an option for summer bookings. We are going to be staying there for a long time in a stnd view room mainly. We're saving points. Can't beat that stnd view rate--I hope!
In case we end up missing the SAB too much, I booked some weekend nights at the BCR too. :cloud9:

For our family BCV would not be worth the extra $$. We own an OKW but have stayed at all of the on-site dvc properties. Don't think that we didn't enjoy BCV - we found it to be a clean and pleasant resort and the proximity to Illuminations is great. We could see that show every night and not get tired of it !
Why do we feel this way ? Believe it or not it is actually out 13 y/o daughter that is the biggest supporter in our family. On the trip that we returned from last night I took the time to ask her as we were walking through the Beach Club on our way to watch Illuminations if she would like to stay here again. Her answer - "no, this feels too much like a hotel where okw feels like home to me." I then asked if she would enjoy having Stormalong Bay available. Her response " I like Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach more." When I booked our most recent trip there was availability at BCV and everyone in the family gave their vote - I was the only one that even wanted BCV for even part of the stay. The end result - 12 glorious days at OKW 1 bedroom. 10 on points, 2 on cash. It would have been shorter if I had stayed at BCV - the points would have only gotten me 7 days.
As far as "location, location, location" just about every time we saw Illuminations this trip we entered through the international gateway after parking our van at the beach club lot and walking through the lobby.
We didn't "sneak in" but rather showed the guard our parking pass and resort id. We were allowed to park every time. I'm sure that during very busy times of the year this might not be allowed due to capacity but there were always many spaces available. From the time we left our room till the time we entered the lobby was usually only 10 minutes or less. I've spent more time than that in line at most attractions or eateries, so it's not really that big a deal.
To tidy this up - not enough of a wow-factor for us to compensate for the higher cost of purchasing points/dues/points required for nights/smaller size. All other plusses of it's location are only a few minutes travel for us - not an issue. Other than that - great resort !

Why does anyone pay $550 a night for the Poly Lagoon View when Pop is available for less than $100?

People pay more when they perceive more value. Proximity to Epcot/MGM. Limited supply of rooms, SAB - as well as some good old fashioned hype.

Personally, I like the waterparks better than SAB - SAB doesn't hold a lot of appeal to us - hard to watch kids of a certain age, and once they get past that age they'd rather be at Typhoon Lagoon or BB. And we are BWV owners, and I agree with a previous post - the extra three minute walk isn't a big deal.

Me Personally I will take OKW over BCV any time.

BCV is a nice place please don't get me wrong. I just like the feel of OKW.

To each their own.

Did you tell the guard you were going to watch Epcot? He might've thought you were going to eat at one of the restaurants at the BCV. What you did by parking at BCV to walk to Epcot IS against the rules. I'm not sure if you noticed when you arrived at the BCV gate, but there is a sign that says, "We are sorry, but we cannot provide parking for guests entering Epcot or MGM" (or something to that effect). Guards do allow "special" access to the resort for DVC members....it's kind of a courtesy, so members can "check out" the other DVC properties. But, it is on the "honor system" to not be abused by those who want to park at a resort to get access to a park.

Maybe when DVC gets a Contemporary option, these rules will be changed to keep parkers out of the resort lots. I can't WAIT to see how congested that lot becomes if these rules are not better enforced.
