BCV 2 bedroom 2 queen is a request not a guarantee!

In July when I got my confirmation for my upcoming May trip...it wasn't listed.

I called and they said...yes..we have the 2Bdrm-2queens. We don't put it on the confirmations anymore.
It is a posted room selection and IS guaranteed. :thumbsup2

We will see...better be that way!!
Email them so you'll have something in writing.

Hi DebbieB
I just called day by day and booked as they said to when I asked about going in a semi-busy month like March. They were apparently supposed to add the days to the same reservation but the manager I spoke with later said for some reason it had not been done (probably because I was booking two two bedrooms at once and that I was using some transfered points?) but that he was sure that the wait list would come through for me and not to worry.
:guilty:

Just to note, there's no such thing as an absolute guarantee. DVC will always retain the right to make substitutions as they need to. It's simply all about giving yourself the best chance of success.

Nothing in the hotel industry is an absolute guarantee. You can book the 2 bedroom category and if one is available when you check in you get it. If for some reason, maintenance, etc. that it is not available you don't get it.

Same with booking a suite, a lagoon view etc.

What is a "lock out" 2BR? And does anyone know about adjoining studios?

A lock out, is a one bedroom villa and a studio with a connecting door. This is the door you can "lock out". This unit can also be rented as a one bedroom and a studio.

There are studios near each other but not adjoining.

I called 3 times to verify my brother was getting 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom. All 3 times MS told me yes. He didn't get one, so I don't think it is a guarantee even though it is a booking class.

I called MS this morning to ask about my reservation for March. They told me that a 2 queen bed is a different class of booking. I asked why it wasn't listed on my confirmation, and was told they just don't list it like that any more. She said that it was a guarantee, and asked if I wanted a new confirmation show it. I said YES, so we will see when I get the new confirmation what is says.

I am on a waitlist for a dedicated 2 br with 2 queens in July. If I get this and I do not get the 2 queens in it, I will have a problem with them. This is the only reason I will change from a lock out 2 bedroom I have now. MS said that is on my request, so I will hold them to it. If they can't guarantee it, they shouldn't tell you they can.
I don't believe they tell anyone that anything is a guarantee, other than a handicapped access room. My understanding is that everything is a request that they will do their best to honor.

This is NOT a request. It is a class of of rooms, only at the BCV. Like I stated before, MS said that it is GUARANTEED if it is booked that way.

We booked the two bedroom two queen option (and got it). I know it is a 'bookable' option, but even handicapped rooms can not be garrenteed if pipes break, or the toliet is damaged (or put out of service for whatever reason) which is what I beleive happened to the OP's brother, but to say it is now a request because upon occasion someone doesnt get one, is another story

DEAN....
:thanks:THANK YOU soooo much for suggesting that I send an e-mail to confirm my 2bdrm-2queen ressies......
:thanks:

I did and here's the response:

Hello Carol,

Thank you for contacting Member Services.

We do show that the reservation is booked in a two bedroom that will have two Queen size beds. The confirmation will not actually state that.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Be assured that I will be taking a copy with me in May!! :thumbsup2

Not a problem, that's what this and other similar BBS and Email lists are all about.

If it IS a room type and if it IS guaranteed, what is so bloody difficult about putting it on the confirmation letter?! The fact that it is not tells me that it is neither confirmed nor a request, and that MS just wants to pull the blanket over their head and forget about it.

So let's assume for a second that the room type is actually "guaranteed"...

If you fail to get the correct room type, what do you get? An apology? Your points back? A resort credit?

Unless the compensation for failure to meet a "guarantee" is spelled out, the "guarantee" isn't worth much...

Note the word guarantee is not there. If there is an unforseen reason a room is out of service and all the others are full, what are they going to do? You can stand there with your e-mail but it's not going to get you the room.

Well....I have learned in life to "cross the bridge when I get to it". :rolleyes1

I always keep my glass..half full, not, half empty. :teeth:

We can only make good decisions on the information given. I do believe that Disney does the best they can..for all of us. Certainly...I won't be throwing a tantrum and it will NOT ruin my vacation. :thumbsup2
