Baltimore BOT-Fest

Howard - Great job moving toward your goals!

Thanks Mike! My BMI has now dropped to 26.94 and I've lost 6 pounds with 9 more to go. I've got this! It is a lot of work and activity though.

I want to make sure I don't have any excuses when I run NYC with Jodi. That chick is toast, her and her 5 Fingers.

Awesome Howard, that's great! Is that the NYC half you are running together?

No need to wait to see who wins...I can tell you right now ;).

Congrats on losing "some" weight, Howard. I like your theory that losing pound-age will make you faster...keep going with that. :thumbsup2

Snowmegadon is spankin' us hard up here in CT! I reserved a rental car next week just in case we can't fly out on Weds. Been watching the weather like there's a marathon coming :rotfl: & it looks like we're going to escape right before the next major storm on Thurs. I have to admit we're a little nervous about leaving the house. Roofs are collapsing on buildings all over...Bruce & I spent all last weekend shoveling off the roof. His sister has volunteered to stay @ the house while we're gone, so there's some comfort in that.

I'm here in Dallas dealing with the ice and now at least 6 inches of snow on top of the ice. Work's been closed for 4 straight days and I'm trying to come up with ways to keep busy. I used my stairwell as a stairmaster Wednesday during a power outage, and I worked out to a pilates DVD yesterday. Can anyone suggest something (I don't have a Wii) I can do to get a workout in?

Cam and I participated in the Special Olympics Delaware "Run for the Plunge 5K" on Saturday. It was Cam's first 5K since before her surgery in May. She finished in just over 51 minutes and was far from DLF. I am proud of her efforts to get back out there. I'm sure she'll continue to get "faster" as time goes on. I ran my second best 5K ever = 24:36, 7:55 Pace. I missed a PR by just 13 seconds. :headache: My PR goes back to August 13, 2008. So... I guess all the Boot Camp and Wii Fit has been paying off afterall. :rolleyes1

I checked the official results online today and I came in 3rd in my age group. I am checking to see if there is some swag for my efforts. According to the race information there were awards for the top 3 men and women in each age group. I think this is the first time I've ever placed. I like that. :thumbsup2

Have a fun cruise Jodi! Eat lots of food, drink lots of unbrella drinks and strap on the feedbag in general. All those extra pounds will mean more energy on race day in NYC. ;) Safe travels!

Hey Jodi, when do you set sail? This week correct??

Howard, yeah for placing in your race. That is an awesome time, gotta know that Boot camp is awesome! We used to have that at our Y, also loved Body Pump...wish we had that.

Hey BOTS!

Yes - leaving tomorrow for our 3 & 4 day B2B cruises on the Dream! :woohoo: I'll let you know if all the heinous reviews on the DIS Boards are true!! :lmao: Hey - as long as I don't have to shovel snow off the roof & driveway, I'm good. And Howard, you're right. I'll probably gain 10 lbs. & lose any fitness that I might have. Meanwhile you'll be doing BootCamp :confused3. Oh well...save me a bottle of water @ the finish line of the 1/2...they usually run out after 3 hours. ;)

Jodi: have a great timeon the cruise! We are getting excited for ours in April, trying to choose shore excursions.

Howard: awesome work on the 5K. Not too shabby placing in your age group. :cheer2:

I'm getting ready for a girls weekend to Princess with some friends. I usually run at night but was exhausted on Sunday and opted to sleep instead. Somehowmanaged to pry myself out of bed EARLY Mon and get in 11 miles before work. I now know why I run at night. By 3:00 I was ready for a nap but still had several hours of work left during which I had to be upbeat and alert... Not easy!

Hi everyone!

Dave~ So sorry about your bad "break". :headache: I hope you aren't in any pain and that it is set and already well on its way to healing fully.

Jodi~ Do let us know when you are back from your Back 2 Back booze cruise. :rotfl2: I hope you are having a great time!

Mike ~ Belated Happy Birthday! I think I got you in time on FB. I hope your family was nice to you and treated you special on your birthday. Has Kathy selected a Fall BOT race yet? I sent her a note on FB, but she hasn't divulged any information yet. I am thinking about the Baltimore Marathon in Mid-October (15th). I haven't run it before and I'd like to. I'm trying to talk Charlie Pavarini into running it with me.

Hi Judy, Colleen, Matt, Cindy, Jennifer, Leslie, Chester, Sara, Leslie, Lou, etc!

Have a great day and evening everyone!

Howard - Without knowing any fall schedules and such, initially I can say I could probably be convinced to run Baltimore. Is that wishy-washy enough for you?

Mike~ I'll wait for Jodi to come back and really lay some wishy-washiness on us about this race. I think it's a fairly central location for some BOTS and close to BWI, Regan, I-95, trains, etc. I am Marine Corped out for now although I'd like to run it again in the future. It's time to shake things up a bit in my schedule. Knowing about and having a Fall race in mind would be a good thing. Running in October will open up the possibility of running the Philadelphia Marathon in November too (unless I get into NYC).

I'm not committing to ANYTHING until I hear from Kathy! :thumbsup2.

Hey guys! I'm home! :sad2:

Wow, what a trip! Before I forget, Happy Belated Birthday, Mike. Hope you had a great day...no, really.

What can i say? The Dream was absolutely incredible! I'm so glad we did the B2B...4 days wouldn't have been enough. Beautiful weather the second time around for CC!

I had been reading A LOT of negative chatter here on the boards about the ship...slow service, bad food, too small of a pool, too crowded, etc., etc. All unfounded by me...but I'm pretty easy to please (no comments, Mike). Sure it was crowded as heck in the kids sections...but weren't the other cruises, too, during winter break? It also got REAL crowded when shows let out of the Walt Disney Theater. Other than that? Jeez, take the dang stairs if the elevators are crowded.
The food, IMHO, was a step up from what I remember on the other cruises. Service was terrific!! Not slow at all. The only negative comment I have is that the drinks weren't strong enough!! :thumbsup2 We found an awesome pub, 687, & they had their own brew! 687 Ale. I don't know if it was just the setting, but it was a really good brew. This is where we spent most of our time.

The adult area was fine..plenty of room. I don't know if that's because all the parents were with ALL those kids, but even @ sea day (and it was warm!!) there were chairs to be found on the upper deck & there was plenty of room in the pool. I even got a bit of a workout in there treading water b/c it was just a deeper than I am tall. Being short can have its benefits ya know.

Let me know any questions you might have, I'd be happy to answer them. We re-booked while on board. ;). SO depressed to be home (insert smilie with sharp objects in hand).

Jodi

Welcome back!

So, is it going to be Baltimore instead of Hartford? They are both October 15th.

Hi Everyone, well since I seemed to have some newfound time on my hands, I thought I would check in and see how my friends were doing.

I was really wanting to know how Jodi's cruise on the Dream went, and it sounds like you had a great time.

Hope everyone is doing well! :wave2:
