Bad news from Vero

Just found out my parents home in Vero Beach was badly damaged. Their best friend's house across the street is being condemned along wth at least 20 others. It's very sad. Will be heading down there as soon as power is restored. Any damage assesment from Disney Vero?

Sorry to hear of your parents' misfortune. Hopefully, it was just house damage and no one was hurt.

There are a few threads on this board about Vero and potential damage. I don't think anything definitive has come out yet....which is probably good news.

I read a post last night (I think allears??) that MS was contacting everyone with ressie for all of Oct.

Not a good sign for the status of our DVC home.

I am sorry to read about your parents home in Vero Beach.
As said earlier, the resort is closed through October. I don't know when we will here if there is a special assessment.

Im sorry about your parents home
MILs house lost its shed, carport and front porch w/Frances. Noone as been inside as of yet. Friends of hers in the same neighborhood lost their roof and their house is now condemned.
MIL & DH started their drive to FL at 1am Wed night. Usually they only take 1night to get down but this trip they're planning on 2. They want to arrive when its daylight not night. Not sure if they will need to leave once they see the house. Noone has seen inside the house yet.

While I'm sure there is damage to the resort again, another reason for the delay in re-opening is the damage to the entire area. They are talking about weeks to get the power restored and I think there's even some question about water. And, of course, the folks working at Vero have their own problems at home. Disney may be holding off bringing additional people into a devastated area. This will also give them time to get the place in top shape and allow the hurricane season to come to an end.
