Hi All

Last year I took the Keys to the Kingdom tour and loved it. I will be traveling solo to WDW later this month and was contemplating taking the Backstage Safari tour at Animal Kingdom. Would appreciate your postive and/or negative comments from those who have taken it.

Thank You in advance

Hi, there,
I just took the tour second week of August, and loved it. I got to pet a rhino, just happened to see the new baby elephant (she was out on the savannah with her mother). I highly recommend this tour. Very informative. They do not guarantee that you will see animals; situations vary. For example, we had to wait to view the hospital area, because they were performing surgery on a bird. You get to see the behind-the-scene areas of how they care for the animals, also get some inside info on the park itself. You also get to ride the safari at a much slower pace than when it is used as an attraction, with a guide who will point out many "secrets". Enjoy.

We did this last September and we too got to pet a Rhino and get REALLY close to a giraffe (couldn't touch/feed him though)

If you are an animal lover, you'll like this! They even take over a truck on the safari ride, turn off the "disney spiel" and point out a few "secrets" along the way through the savannah.

Well worth the money! (And, contrary to what some people might think - not that much walking. Less then the Keys to the kingdom tour which I thought was minimal in itself)

Enjoy!

Thank You for your feedback. Are cameras allowed on this tour?

Took both AK tours last November - both were great.

No cameras are allowed on any backstage tours when you are backstage. We were able to take pictures while we were doing the Kilomajaro Safari attraction with the behind-the-scenes narrative on the Backstage Safari tour though.

Another tour you might like is the Wild by Design. I believe the entire tour was on stage but you would be amazed with what they point out. I did not truly appreciate AK until taking this tour. The detail is amazing. The cool thing also was that we got headsets to where in order to hear the tour guide better. I wish they would do this for all tours.
