The day we set out for California was a cold miserable day in february. We were all excited for the california sunshine, but first we had to make it through half of washington, all of Oregon and northern california.

About 2 hours into our trip we made a stop to see stonehenge.....yes, washington state has it's own little replica!

I managed to get this "nice" shot before the goofing around happened...

In a rare moment of seriousness I got a few decent shots...

We are on the washington side of the columbia river and in the distance you can see Oregon..

After some running around the "ruins" we were back in the mini van and over the bridge to Oregon. We stopped about an hour south of Portland at my aunts for a mini family reunion and a free hotel....

We had a great visit with my aunt and cousins and their kids. She's the kind of person who won't let you lift a finger while you're visiting so we were pampered and woke up to a full pancake breakfast in the morning!

Around 7 we left her house and made a quick stop at my mom's grave near by....I've only been there 2 times before so it was emotional . It started us off in a somber mood but it didn't take long for the kids to cheer me up with their antics.

Our goal for the day was to reach the Redwoods near the california/oregon border, look at some ancient trees and spend the night...

HOLY MOLY AN UPDATE!!!???!!!!

Looks like you guys are off to a great start. Love all the pictures. The kiddo's are getting so big. Oh my gosh when I think back to the first TR that I read of yours...they were babies!!!! Time fly's.

So glad you got to visit your mothers grave. I'm sure it was an emotional rollercoaster. Your hubby and kids are so great. I'm sure they tried their very best to cheer mom up afterwards.
