Baby and the Tramp...and a Pop (half) Century! Where Did It Go???

nowellsl - What did they have the gorillas doing? I would be interested in seeing that for sure!

It's been a while, but what I remember is that it involved the single male gorillas that live in the area across from the gorilla "family". It was just past the bridge and across from the water fall area. Each of the males has a designated spot they are trained to go to to get a treat. It seems like they may have used a whistle or some kind of call to get them to go to their spots and I'm pretty sure some hand signals were involved. After they go to their spot they get a treat and then go to their enclosures for the night. It was really a treat to see them so close!

We saw the male gorillas having some kind of altercation. There were a bunch of CMs around, and they were kind of blocking off an area. They were talking about one of the males being upset about something. We didn't stay to watch, because we didn't want to be in the way, but something abnormal was going on. It would have been scary, yet fascinating, to see those huge guys going at each other.

moparop - I will have a Disney day! It has already started. See the next paragraph.

To tell you all just how sick I am, I will share with you this secret story, but promise not to tell anyone. :ssst:

I went to Walmart on the way to school this morning to go ahead and start getting some odds and ends for the trip and some things the boys would need at home. I want to be sure they don't run out of shampoo and cleaning supplies and cat food, etc., so I figure I better start getting all this kind of stuff as I think of it.

Anyway, when I came out of Walmart, there was a city bus right there at the door, with that loud bus sound and the smell of fumes. At the same time, the smell of baked goods wafted by me. It was the smell of freshly baked donuts. As I was putting my bags in the car, the bus started doing its beep beep beep thing that it does when lifting or rising. The combination of those three very simple things - bus fumes, donuts, and a beeping sound - transported me far away from that Walmart and right down to Disney World!

I truly, truly am messed up! :sad2:

Really? I'd have pegged you for the shades smilie hands down!:lmao:

Banana? Shades/Cool? I was thinking more ... :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: with a little pixiedust: thrown in! :lmao: Hope you have a great trip MeMom. We will all be looking forward to another TR with photos of Brooklyn!! Loved the bus story. I could have done that.

You're sick MeMom. The disease is called LoveofDisney. But you're far from messed up because I also, as well as many others around here, have the same disease. That's why we all get along so well. ;) Great ALK pictures! I'm glad little Miss Brooklynn had fun in the pool. I don't see anything wrong with her hanging there, swimming for awhile.

Love the Animal Kingdom report. You need a quick Disney trip when Walmart makes you sick for Disney. Good thing your Disney Trip is single digit or you would have to start planning an emergency trip.   for you.

We were fortunate enough to witness the flag lowering ceremony in the afternoon, and it was amazing. It was so moving. Just powerfully moving. That veteran stood so proud, and there were people all around singing the patriotic songs loudly and proudly. If you've never seen this, make a point to do so. It is a great experience.

I know I am a whole year late to the party, but I am loving your TR!! You are right about the flag ceremony. My husband was chosen as veteran of the day when we went to WDW in August of 07. He received a lovely certificate, a special pin that says Veteran of the Day and we had a beautiful free photo of him holding the folded flag in front of the pole. Really a very special ceremony....now, back to reading!:surfweb:

:rotfl: I have had similar experiences. Good thing you are in the single digits!! :woohoo:

I am still here Memom. I am not able to get on the computer as much as I used to so I can only write every once in a while. I loved all the pics of the animals on your safarri. Great updates and I am so excited for you on your upcoming trip. You only have 9 days left!!!!!!!!:cool1: :dance3:

Okay, we are finally here! It is the last day of this trip. Last part of a day, actually. We only had a little while to go to Epcot for the opening day of the Flower and Garden Festival, and then we had to get on the road to go back home.

You know me. I took one last opportunity for pictures around the resorts. I made one last sweep through the front sections of Music and Sports to take a final peek in the gift shops. You will see it was bit early. I might have been the first customer of that day at Sport Goofy.

The people in the left of this picture are sadly getting on Magical Express. The ones on the right are getting on an uncrowded bus to go to an uncrowded park for much fun. There was a definite contrast in the atmosphere among the two groups.

While grabbing a little food for the folks still in the room, I saw an imposter.

576.jpg

I knew right away he was not the real deal.
He was much too tall.
And too thin.
And he was not even a rodent.
Nope, I was not fooled one bit.

I gathered the goodies.

I am thankful for these people who go to work every day to make my vacations enjoyable. :thanks:

Back at the room, Brooklynn had a quick munchdown, which kept her occupied while we got everything squared away.

This is the new friend I added to the group on this trip. He enjoyed breakfast with us.

I now have about thirty Disney pals of the 9-10 inch size who sit in my very long window at school. The kids love them, anyone who visits our room goes on and on about how cute they are, and I get a little touch of Disney in every school day.

Our last few hours at Epcot, coming soon.

MeMom and Jill -

I've spent the past few days reading your trip report(s) and I LOVE them! Thank you so much for sharing with us! I originally started reading because we are taking our twin girls to WDW (and POP!) in December of this year, it will be about two weeks after their first birthday. And I saw that Brooklynn (who, by the way is absolutely ADORABLE!) was around the same age for your first trip. I just wanted to see what we could expect (to some degree) from them at that same age. Would you believe I don't remember what my son was like at that age?!?!?! Time just flies, it really does.

Anyway, thank you again for sharing your wonderful pictures and words with us. I absolutely loved it and I'm looking forward to reading about your upcoming trip, too! Not too much longer to wait!

I can't post links or images quite yet because I do not have ten posts. That is one of the hardest parts of leaving, I think-knowing that you are leaving and seeing all the Disney buses and people getting on said Disney buses.

I really love your pictures, too. You have a wonderful eye, and all of your pictures take me right back to Disney. :lovestruc There was actually a picture several pages back from Pop, looking over a balcony at the giant fooseball table and Big Wheels. I have almost the same exact photo (it was the view from the end of our balcony.) It was awesome to see it in someone's else's photo. :goodvibes

LOL!!! That Dinosaur photo is hilarious! Poor Jill and the poor kid in front. She must be traumatized. Look at those parents trying to shield her. Heehee.

I am a great actress! I have been on Dinosaur at least 15 times and know when they are going to snap the picture so it is mine and Trent's tradition to make faces when the camera snap, sometime silly and sometimes scared.

Welcome to our craziness! Brooklynn was just shy of her first birthday when we went and she was a pretty good traveller. She was taking just a few steps at the time and was quite content to her stroller. Fast foward to now and she is about 2 months shy of two and won't sit in her stroller for more than 30 seconds and that is if I am lucky. John and I bought a harness so that she can be somewhat independent. She will be able to walk when it isn't too crowded and crazy.
