Baby and the Tramp...and a Pop (half) Century! Where Did It Go???

I love the pictures of the elephants crossing the bridge on the safari ride. I have been on the last safari ride before and never saw that. I wish I was there.

LOVE the lion pics. i have yet to see one doing anything but sleeping in the sun!

Great photos of the safari, MeMom! I have always tried to catch the Safari first thing in the morning. I'll have to plan a late afternoon ride next time.

Brooklyn is such a doll. I loved the photo of her reacting with such glee at the AK parade.

We ate at Flame Tree BBQ in January. The ribs were delicious, as was the BBQ sandwich. How was the chicken? On that trip we also went to Hoop do Doo Musical Review at Ft. Wilderness and had ribs ... also delicious. The show is fun too.

I love the new pictures!!!
I really hope I get to meet Jill and Brooklyn!!

Great pics and updates. Love the photos of Brooklynn enjoying the parade. Safari shots were great too. Love the elephants. Thanks for sharing. Won't be long for you now!!!

LOL!!! That Dinosaur photo is hilarious! Poor Jill and the poor kid in front. She must be traumatized. Look at those parents trying to shield her. Heehee.

Those are some amazing safari pictures. We went late-ish as well the last time, but none of us got good photos like you did-mostly zebra behinds and blurry photos. That was before I remembered the handy "sports" setting on my newish camera.

I also love the picture from Dinosaur. The poor family in the front-I can relate :rotfl: We have a similar picture-my fifteen year old sister was holding my arm, hiding her face and screaming the entire time. She is afraid of dinos due to the first bad dream that she remembers, but she loves that ride. I guess it helps to know that they're extinct, and that it's Disney. :wizard:

Brooklynn is such a cutie. I love all the pictures of her just looking completely enchanted and taking it all in. It looks like you have such a wonderful family.

Deep breath MeMom!! It'll be okay!!!! Breathe in, breathe out!!!

I love your comment ... "a day in Disney is better than a day at work, right???" To which I say ...

We turned off the panic switch pretty quickly, thankfully. Lesson learned: I will always have a calendar in front of me when discussing any future Disney plans.

See, even after half a century, I'm still learning. That's good, because in almost all of our workshops, they talk about being lifelong learners. They'd be so proud of me!

Also, as far as Flame Tree, I've had the chicken before. It was good, but on this trip, that big plate o' fruit belonged to me! I shared with Brooklynn, of course.

Hoop De Doo will be dooed...I mean, done....by us someday, I suspect. On one of our trips where I'm sure everyone in the group can go, I'd like for us to do that. I think it would be fun to do when we have a few grandkids to whoop and holler with.

moparop - It did feel special to be on that last trek. We saw several trucks and CMs around the savannah as they fed the animals and gathered them in. I really want to do the backstage tour of AK someday. Trent and Jill checked into staying Concierge at AKL and doing that sunrise safari, but it was way too much for us!

punkin413 - We've seen him awake sometime, but we've never seen him pacing like he was. It would have been better if we had filmed, because the pictures don't even really show how much he was moving.

Is it crazy that we got excited about seeing a lion pace?
Naah!
I mean, he is our lion. Our Disney lion on our Kilimanjaro Safari.
Of course we'd be excited!!!

declansdad - No, we weren't stopped, but the driver was nice enough to go very, very slowly at certain points. I want them to stop at every animal for three minutes and let me get good pictures.
And then I want them to stay there for another three for me just to watch the animals in action for a while. I'm sure the folks in the jeep behind us (or the thousands of people standing in line) wouldn't mind!

caralyn817 - They were just marching all together and headed straight over the bridge. Sort of reminded me of the elephants in The Jungle Book!

hlrababy - I think you will be able to meet up for a little bit. You guys can just get to know each other on the boards a little until then so it'll feel comfortable when you meet in person.

TCKK - 9 more work days! That is sounding pretty good. It would sound even better if they would get the air conditioning unit fixed. We were dripping wet and miserable yesterday. The assistant principal brought around popsicles to help cool the kids down. They were working on the unit when I left yesterday, so hopefully they fixed it. It definitely prepared me for being hot in WDW lines.

Lovemy3babes - Jill is a faker! The little girl in front is the real thing! It is a good picture.

Our friend, Kay, very much enjoyed her double dose of the ride. She was giggling when she came off of the ride with Jill. I'm sure it was much more fun to go through it correctly than to go through it being shaken like a milkshake for ten minutes in the middle of it like the first trip.

megablocks - I'll be playing with a new camera this time, so we'll cross our fingers on what I might come up with one the safari or anywhere else.

By the way, zebra behinds and blurry pictures - we do those, too!!!

This is for the November trip, so we'll be back in real school by then. We got off a week last year and will get off a week this year, but they've already told us we're back to just three days again for 2009, so that's why I wanted to take advantage of this opportunity.

I guess John will determine what we'll do after he sees the flight schedules and prices. If they can get off another day, I'm all for going on Monday, but that might not work, since they're also taking off a week for their October trip. If they can, heaven knows I'll have my bag packed and ready!

Did you guys have a good Father's Day? Did the girls have special dresses for the occasion?
Well, just make sure you save Oct 30 thru Nov 7th 2009 on your calender....meet us in Disney cause the girls would love to play with Brooklynn!!!   I am really hoping we can go on this trip!!!

We did have a nice Father's Day....here are the girls ... in their final day of school outfits (no special FD outfits...I didn't think of that :headache: )

Although no set in stone Disney plans, we are however going to Sesame Place with my friend and her three little ones. I decided to make everyone outfits for the occasion. We are going tomorrow and I still have 3 more to make  ...but here is Brooklyn modeling her's:

I am really hoping that prices for flights don't go out of control due to the economy and all. Disney is going to have to be more affordable soonerish right??? I am hoping they come up with some good deals on tickets and such....I am a dreamer huh? :rolleyes1

Memom, do you start your single digit dance tomorrow? It won't be much longer until you're there. :woohoo: Thanks for sharing your awesome animal pictures! I really liked the one of the elephants crossing the bridge and the ones of the lions.

I love your safari pictures! We were on the gorilla trail one day close to park closing and the trainers came out to do some tricks (I don't know what else to call it?) with the gorillas. It was really interesting. I guess a lot goes on late in the day! I love Animal Kingdom!

Hello -- Great updates. I was hoping that Glendamax would have started her report, b/c I did not want to give anythign away (did she start her report and I am just blind/dumb)... lol
We met up at the front of MK with Madimouse about 9:30ish and we rode Peterpan/Snowwhite/pooh and haunted mansion...... I wanted to ride BTMR with them but I wanted to wait for my mom and aunt and did not want to have them wait for me. B/c my mom is in a scooter (she has very bad rheum arthritis), I got to go through handicap - and ride twice in the front row... as we were getting on the ride, I saw Glenda and Madi on line. I felt so bad b/c they could have been with us. They were so awesome to hang for the 1 1/2 hours I was with them.

ooo -- and I got to do Toy Story Midway Mania -- LOVED IT -- I beelined to DHS during and EMH (same day I met up with G&M) and the ride was closed.. What -:confused3 - so I waited (I was third on line) 38 minutes before they opened it... well worth the wait -- and I met some great people on line.

As sad as it was, it was time for us to leave Animal Kingdom.

Time to leave the smell of barbeque and pizza.
Time to leave brightly colored animal carvings.
Time to leave bats and snakes and tigers and zebras and alligators with mouths wide open and impatient lions.
Time to leave brightly colored parade jeeps and cold ice cream.
Time to leave Pocahontas and Simba and Rafiki.
I do love Animal Kingdom.
It was my favorite park of that afternoon.

We had plans to find another species of zebra. It is called a zebra dome. If you have ever encountered one, you know what a catch it is!

So we left here,

but I did turn around for one last goodbye.

541.jpg

We got on a bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge. Upon arrival, we did a quick sweep through the gift shop.

542.jpg

543.jpg

However surprised we all might be, I didn't stay in the gift shop very long. I sensed that the zebra dome I so desired to capture was very near.

My instincts were right, and with little effort, I captured these.

The adults in our group do not pool hop. Please know that. We do not take seats at any pool we visit unless there are many, many empty ones. We do enjoy visitng the other pools for pictures and for some high class atmosphere, and we do let Brooklynn ankle hop for a few minutes, but she does not take up much space, and we do not stay but a few minutes. We can do this now, because she doesn't understand the whole deal, but we won't be able to do it for much longer, we know. We do want her to abide by rules, so it will come to an end at the right time.

For now, we do let her play in richer waters occasionally, and this night, we did just that.

This is the view to the left of where I sat.

547.jpg

This was to my right.

552.jpg

This was above my head.

548.jpg

It was a beautiful night to sit out by a pool, eat zebra domes, talk to a friend I don't get to see much, and watch my daughter watch her little girl play. I didn't want it to end.

549.jpg

We did have to get going, though. We had to get back to the room and get packed. We would be loading the car bright and early in the morning before heading to Epcot for our last half day of this very fun trip.

As we were leaving, we thought we saw a ghost.

554.jpg

I don't think I've ever read anything on the Disboards about AKL having a ghost.

I loved your safari pictures and Brooklynn looked like she was having a ball in the pool!

Getting close to your next trip....must be exciting! :)

Yay for the AKL!! What did you think of the resort and the pool?? Im most concerned about hte pool, it looks blah!

great update and pics.

I have never been to AKL but the pool looked lovely.

I've never been to AKL either but we've got breakfast ADR's at Boma so we'll get to see it this trip :hyper: I can't wait. Love the pics and the Zebra Domes look delicious. What exactly are they?

Oh what a fun evening at AKL! The zebra domes look delish and the atmosphere around the pool looks lovely. What a great way to finish the evening!

Well, just make sure you save Oct 30 thru Nov 7th 2009 on your calender....meet us in Disney cause the girls would love to play with Brooklynn!!!   I am really hoping we can go on this trip!!!

The girls look very cute in their outfits and their little crocs to match.

Yes, I hope your trip happens. It is expensive to go, but it's so worth it to sacrifice and save and do it, in my opinion.

Are you planning to do the Halloween party, since you'll be there at the right time?

SnoopyDancer - Right now we're at ten days, seven hours, and some, so we are just about ready for that big dance! Are you going to be the official dance leader?

nowellsl - What did they have the gorillas doing? I would be interested in seeing that for sure!

snowbell - You guys did more than I thought you'd do. Sounds like it was a lot of fun! Glenda was dragging her feet on doing a report, so I don't know if she finally decided she would or would not. If you are not planning to do one, either, I hope you will at least share a picture or two here.

Happy Elf - She was having a blast! She had two of those noodle float things, and she was picking them up and putting them back down in the water over and over. I think the noodles belonged to the little boy who was near her, but he had just left them and was going out deeper, so he didn't seem to mind that she was playing with them.

Nicole786 - I love the resort. I enjoy going out to see the animals. I don't have much of an opinion on the pool, as the only part I've really paid attention to is the zero entry portion where Brooklynn played. I didn't even walk around to the other parts of it, to be honest.

scottny - It was a beautiful evening, and I do think the water looked pretty in the night pictures, too.

TCKK - Zebra domes have a layer of sponge-like cake on the bottom, then a cream that is a white chocolate Kalhua mixture, then chocolate piping. They are very, very, very good, in my opinion.

moparop - It was a good way to end the evening and a nice peaceful way to spend the last night of the trip. I want to stay there as a real guest someday. I still won't even get in the pool, but at least Brooklynn will be legal.
