B&P's VR 11/10/2012 UK/AAP/UKDP Day 1 Arrival & Epcot 6/10

*Oh! Steak and eggs! Yummm!! I am drooling over that pic. It looks soooo good!
*Your PS looked like a lot of fun. Love those chargers. So sparkly and pretty!
*I love the binder and how organized you are.
*We had the almond cake with raspberry mousse for our bottom layer cake. Like Jackie, I wasn't a fan, but DH loved it. I thought it was kinda dry. As an Escape bride, we didn't get a PS, so no cake tasting for us, we just had to guess! And since I hate chocolate, our options were a bit limited. On our wedding video, right after we fed each other cake (which was my first taste of Disney cake ever) you can hear Joey say, "Mmm, that's good cake." And I just kinda look at him, like, "Uh, yeah sure. Whatever dude." It was pretty funny!
*I hope you get Major Domo...It was one thing I regret not pushing DH for. It would've been soo cool. So please, let me live vicariously through you!

Can't wait for more!

Sorry to hear you got a concussion! They can be scary. Take time to recoup.
Love the chargers & the pink accessories! They compliment each other perfectly.
Glad you had a birthday cupcake... Like Bill Cosby said, milk, egg, flour, it's breakfast food! ;)

And yes, I saw the picture of the donut. I want to hear about it. I read it on the DP menu & was totally unimpressed....until I saw your picture!!

Thanks for posting even through your injury. :thumbsup2

Awww Bethie!!! Be careful with that pretty little head of yours!!! Glad you are feeling better!

I am super duper jealous about your cake tasting. That is the one thing I wish we could have done before our wedding. I told DH that I want to do a cake tasting for our one year anniversary and then have a little cake made (since we weren't able to save the top layer). He thinks I'm nuts... :rolleyes1

I am in LOVE with those chargers. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Keep them! :goodvibes

•Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your ER trip--That's never good. Have a speedy recovery.
•Yay the planning session! I can't wait to hear about all of the things you picked. :thumbsup2
•I am SO amazed by the slushy machines at the dessert party. BRILLIANT!
•Those chargers are amazing. Keep them!
•I am also SO excited you are doing the lemon raspberry cake! :cool1: I still salivate whenever I think of it. :rotfl: Hooray!!!

Oh no! I'm sorry about your head! I hope you are feeling better! Everything looks great from the PS so far! Go for Major Domo...my parents wanted him, but I didn't and now I regret not getting him! And Elizabeth is AMAZING! She has sooo many great ideas! And slushy machines for the DP? I hope you don't mind a little stalker coming by! :lmao:

That was definitely a TEASE! Where are my DETAILS! :goodvibes

Haha!! I have more coming up! I promise!

-Hey! I have a binder that looks JUST like that! Except it says “Jackie and Jennifer’s wedding.”
-I looove the GF Café. I’ve never been there for breakfast though.
-Woah! Steak for breakfast! I always forget people do that. (I’m a banana and yogurt kind of gal.)
-Mmmmm press pot coffee.
-OMG YOU’RE HAVING THE ORANGE SLUSHIES GAHHHHHHHH
-Yes!!! Keep the Major Domo. He does stay to do the announcements. Just do it. I know you want to.
-Those chargers are soooo pretty and sparkly.
-The almond cake! I loved it. Chris didn’t. But mmmmm. I can’t wait for more!!!

* The Jackie and Jennfer wedding is one I have to get to! Especially, since I think I am paying for it. :)
* I am not a big breakfast person, at all, except when we travel. The steak was a great choice that day.
* I am huge fan of the press pot coffees at any Disney location.
* The orange slushies are in. I will take out other things to have the slushies. :yay:
* I fell in love with the chargers! I knew the ladies here would love them. Paul is not sold, but really does he need to be?? :rotfl2::rolleyes1
* I liked the almond cake. I was surprised that Paul did, it's not usually his favorite flavor.

More is coming up! (After I catch a bit on yours! :rolleyes1)

Bethie,
Hope you are feeling better after your ER visit. That is scary and I'm glad you're ok! Thanks for giving us more of th PS story....
The blingy chargers are stunning!!

Thanks, Rachel! I am feeling better. Was a tad fuzzy for a few days, but feel like myself now. More TR is coming up soon!

Glad you like the chargers. I love them the more I look at them.

Hi Bethie! I am SO sorry about your little noggin; how scary to end up in the ER. But glad you are okay and the wall is too. ;)

The planning session looks great, so much fun. I think major domo is a wonderful addition and you should certainly keep him. Also, LOVE the chargers, so beautiful. Let us know what the price ends up being. I haven't even talked about chargers with our florist Laura...so thanks for bringing it to my attention lol. MMmmmmm cake, may I just say YUM! We chose marble and PB for our middle layer! I can't wait. All the other combos sound yummy too. It's so stranger I noticed everyone having their cake tasting at the planning session floral/picking everything out part and we had ours right after our tasting...I was about to pop. Well, I am so happy for you and Paul and can't wait to read more.

Thank you, so much, Courtenay. It was not my favorite afternoon, that's for sure. Paul keeps checking the wall. Ugh! :sad2: Thank you also for your kind words.

We had a blast with our PS. I am thinking more and more that the Domo is a keeper. I deserve to be a Princess. princess: I will definitely let you know how much the chargers are. I looked at the Disney Event Group site and other glass ones are about $12, so I am thinking they will be in that range. That is odd that your's cake tasting was after your food tasting. Good choice on the marble and PB. :goodvibes

I see that you live in Alpharetta. Paul and I almost moved to Atlanta at one point early in our relationship. We also started dating in Alpharetta when we were both visiting. Holds a special place for us.

Bethie!!!

I love everything so far...

GREY GOOSE SLUSHIES??? I had no idea that could even happen! LUCKY GIRL, they are my favorite of all time!!!

Love those chargers, I can't wait to hear more about your fun :goodvibes

Thanks, Amanda!

I was going to ask about getting the slushies when we went down and then Carrie did a podcast the day we left on having theme park food at your reception and mentioned them specificially. I was bouncing on the plane. :yay: If you want to come stalk, I will see if I can slip one out or slip you in (even better!)

I've been reading along and wanted to say hi! Loving your TR so far. The cake pic is making me HUNGRY, thoug! Can't wait to hear about the rest of the trip!

Thanks for posting! More is coming up soon.

Allie! So glad to see you back! I have to go over and catch up on your day.

* The steak was delish! I highly recommend it.
* The chargers are staying, no matter what. They are gorgeous!
* The binder has been a life saver. It's great to have it all in one place, even Paul can find something.
* I hope the cake tastes as good as the samples do. They were tasty.
* I think you will be able to live vicariously through me. The Domo is most likely staying.

Sorry to hear you got a concussion! They can be scary. Take time to recoup.
Love the chargers & the pink accessories! They compliment each other perfectly.

Thanks, Dee for the kind thoughts. Feeling better now. Took a couple of days, but feeling better now.

* I knew the chargers would be a hit here. I fell in love with them instantly.
* Bill Cosby is a wise man when it comes to breakfast food.

The donut is coming up next. I promise.

Awww Bethie!!! Be careful with that pretty little head of yours!!! Glad you are feeling better!

I am super duper jealous about your cake tasting. That is the one thing I wish we could have done before our wedding. I am in LOVE with those chargers. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Keep them! :goodvibes

Lacey, Thank you for the lovely get well wishes.

The cake tasting was great. I think it was Paul's favorite part. Go for the anniversary cake. You need to keep up your strength with the little one.

I love the chargers too. And they look fabulous with the pink linens. I can't wait to see it all put together.

•Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your ER trip--That's never good. Have a speedy recovery.
•Yay the planning session! I can't wait to hear about all of the things you picked. :thumbsup2

Thank you for the get well wishes, Danielle. Feeling all better now. Definitely scary.

* The PS was awesome! We picked so much, my head was spinning.
* Once I told Paul we could do the slushie machine, he was all over it. The Grey Goose ones are his favorites.
* The love for the chargers seem to be unanimous! :yay:
* I remembered you loved this combo and requested the lemon cake specifically. The combo was both of our favorites. Can't wait to have it.

:lmao:

Thank you, Andrea. I told the Fairy Godchildren about the Major Domo and they love the idea, so he is probably staying. I just love the whole idea of him. Elizabeth is amazing!! Can't wait see everything she comes up with. She really seemed to get what I wanted to do.

As I said to Amanda, come on by! I would love to see you! Maybe I could either sneak a slushy out or sneak some Disbrides in!

We interrupt this TR for a Bridezilla rant regarding boutineres.

Back before Thanksgiving, there was a post on the Facebook group about a company called Fritts Rosenow who makes really awesome non-floral bouts. They have them in all sorts of themes based on what the groom likes - sports, sailing, Star Wars, etc. I knew Paul would love a Boston sports one. I also wanted to see if they could do something for me for my flowers that would have my teams too.

I called the number on their website and left a message. Waited about a week for them to call me back and called them again. Tried a couple more times before Christmas, never got a person or a return call. I figured it was the holidays and they were probably very busy.

While I was waiting for them to contact me, I looked around on the net and saw that people who had ordered from them loved the product, but that they commmunication and customer service was terrible.

After New Years, I figured I would send them an email and see if that was a better to reach them. Waited and waited and heard nothing. Decided to ask Shelley from Impressions if she wanted to take a shot at them, but when the Pats lost the Super Bowl, we put it on hold.

On March 31st :scared1:, I finally got an email back with some fabulous examples of Boston sports ones they have done. Paul and I both fell in love with them.

4sport.jpg

I figured I would send back one email saying I was interested and see how long it took them to get back to me. SHE GOT BACK TO ME IN LESS THAN 10 MINTUES! Well, I was sold then. We sent a couple more emails back and forth discussing what we wanted and decided to place the order for 4 items. One of the Boston 4 team for Paul and his friend Todd, a special one for me for bouquet with Cardinals, Jets and Bruins and one for my brother with the Cardinals.

They sent me an invoice the next day, which I paid right away and they told me they were be done within a week or so. Maybe even sooner than that. We exchanged several emails over the next few days mainly about mine - did I want the logos pink, did I want some sparkle. She told me they were almost done and were going out soon and that I would have them for our PS. I was really excited at this point.

On April 16th, she sent me an email that the package had been returned to her marked "returned to sender" and that it looked like the package got wet and my address was unreadable. Okay, it could happen. Told her no problem. Sent her my address again, just in case. She told me that I would have them "guaranteed" the Monday before my PS, April 23rd. I asked her if there was a tracking number, but got no answer.

Well, on the 23rd, I ran to door everytime the UPS, FEDEX or the mail trucks went by. They never stopped. :( I sent her an email stating that they had not arrived and when I might expect them. I heard back from her as we were on our way to the airport on the 25th. She wanted to know if she could fedex an extra set to Florida, so we would have them for our PS. I wrote back and told her that the PS was the next morning and that I didn't know where she could send them that we would get them in time. Again, I asked for a tracking number and got nothing.

On both April 30th and May 7th I sent her another email saying that I still had nothing. She finally emailed me on the 8th saying "it was crazy" :furious: and "could she send it to someone's work?". I wrote back that I am home most days almost all day, know my mailman and UPS guy and get packages all the time and that it was safer to send them here than to Paul's work. I resent my address and asked for a tracking number.

I am currently waiting for a reply.

I know I have 6 months (exactly) to get these, but really want them now!!!

Okay, rant over...back to the trip report after I eat dinner. :stir:

/
That's ridiculous!!! Thank goodness you still have time to work it out. I just hate that...it makes what should be a fun experience and bad, stressful experience. On the bright side--they are really adorable!

Ugh!! So irritating!! I would so punch them for you, if I could!! Now continue on with the TR!! :goodvibes

Okay...so back to the trip report. I feel much better now that I have ranted. I promise to keep everyone updated as to where the bouts end up.

Tasting in Epcot Central Kitchen

We wrapped up our session with Kathy a little bit before 2, which gave us just enough time to grab a drink of water, hit the restrooms and for Kathy to get us a company car for our trip. She played up the "today is the bride's birthday" angle and got us one of the Cadillacs. She was really excited about this.

As we drove over, she told us more about her time at Disney and that she is married to the Head Driver at Richard Petty, both at Disney and Orlando. She really is fabulous! We feel so comfortable with her.

We got to Epcot and Kathy suggested that if we didn't want to spoil the magic since we were backstage that we should close our eyes. She also suggested that we tell the FGs to that when the bus goes throught, the morning of.

We parked across from the loading dock and were escorted inside. The building seemed to hum with controlled chaos. I didn't snap enough pics inside and I am very sorry about that, since I will probably never get there again.

Even though we were in the center of an extremely busy working kitchen, they had a special space all set up for us. We also had a server to get us drinks and clear plates and anything that we wanted. We were really impressed. I was also impressed that the Carlos, our chef, took photos of everything so that it would look the same for our event that it did during our tasting.

040.jpg

041.jpg

We sat down and got ready to get started.

042.jpg

The first item we had was Chilled Strawberry Soup. We have had this many times before at 1900 Park Fare and on DCL in Palo, but we wanted to see how Epcot did it, since we wanted it for our cocktail hour. It was delicious and we decided to serve it as shooters (thanks, Michelle for the suggestion!). They add a dollop of creme fraisch which was a nice touch.

177.jpg

We practically licked the plate and then it was time to try our next item, which was Parmesan Crusted Chicken with a Creamy Tomato Sauce. This item was listed on our menu as being served with a mushroom sauce. Paul won't even look at a mushroom, so I asked for them to create a sauce I knew he would eat. Chicken Parm is Paul's favorite food, so this was a good choice for him.

178.jpg

It was absolutely AMAZING!!! :worship: I cannot say enough about this dish. We both loved it. Kathy, who doesn't try everything every tasting, tried this since it was new. We all we scraping the plate. Kathy consulted her binder and reminded me that we actually didn't have this dish on our reception menu. I pointed out that we did have it for the welcome dinner and even though I knew Boardwalk's might be slightly different, we wanted to try it. Paul then looked at me and asked "Can we have it at both?" So, we are! Our guests can have it for dinner Friday night and again for brunch on Saturday. I know most of them will not object. :cool1: BTW, the basil leaf was deep fried and delicious!

Up next was the Sea Salt and Black Pepper Flank Steak with 4 sauces (Bearnaise, Smoked Paprika Aoili, Horseradish Cream and Brandy Pepper corn). It was paired with Penne alla Vodka. It was all delicious! The flank steak was moist and delicious. Loved all the sauces as well. Paul is not a huge sauce fan, but he really liked the Brandy Peppercorn sauce. The penne had huge chunks of pancetta, which was really tasty. Both of these will be offered at the reception.

179.jpg

Hard to see, but this is the smoked paprika aioli and the bearnaise sauce.
180.jpg

This is the horseradish and brandy sauces.
181.jpg

Next up was dessert items. We are not offering desserts at the reception, but we figured that since we were in Epcot, we were able to request items that we were thinking about serving at our DP.

First up was the Flambeed Donut with Vanilla Ice Cream. It is typically served with coffee gelato, but Paul won't do anything coffee, so we went with his favorite. I missed getting the shot the first time they flambeed the donut, but since I asked they did it again. :goodvibes

182.jpg

184.jpg

185.jpg

Here's the finished product. It was so delicious! We decided after one bite that this was the leading item for our DP. Since there is only a $6 per person difference between the donut and the funnel cake bread pudding on our menus, it was an easy choice.

186.jpg

Next up was Cream Chesse Crepes with a berry and Grand Marnier sauce. This is an item that is on our reception menu, but they served it as a dessert item. It will be on our reception however. It was amazingly good. Even Paul loved it, which I was surprised by, so it must be good for all!

187.jpg

At this point, they annoyed me a tad. We had also requested to taste Roasted potatoes with shallot butter and funnel cake bread pudding. Our chef, Carlos, described the potatoes and we went with it. We were also told by Matt, the pastry chef, that they can't do the bread pudding for tastings because of the size. I am fine with the fact that we didn't get to taste them (especially the bread pudding), but I would have liked to have chosen 2 other dishes in their place.

Since we were done, they brought out a white chocolate Minnie and Mickey. It was beautiful. They also gave us a cute little whisk.

192.jpg

Carlos and Matt then surprised me with this for my birthday! I loved it!!!

191.jpg

Sadly, it was now time to go. We said goodbye to the chefs and our server and headed back to the car. Talked more with Kathy and she dropped us off right at the Poly. She said she would be in touch soon and that our BEO should be ready in 4-6 weeks.

We were tired, but since it was my birthday and we had 5 hours till dinner, it was time to head to the MK....:lovestruc

Eek!!! Six months from today is our VR! Where has the time gone???

Next up quick trip to MK and California Grill

Now I'm really hungry, Bethie! It looks like it was fun and tasty. Thanks for keeping us posted with such great detail.
I must get try some of the Chicken Parm with Paul's Sauce. Yum!
Rebecca

WOW! Where do I begin? negative first i suppose....

The bouts issue stinks!!! I hate companies that are like that. Oh, no big deal, we'll just embellish the truth, and the customer won't know the difference. I can't stand that!:furious: And people wonder why some of us plan things so far ahead. For this exact reason. And I would not say you are a bridezilla.

Now, about that food :worship: WOW!!! So, just throw a goody baggie of all Pauls leftovers and bring em on over to the DP I'll sneak over & grab it. :lmao: Seems like Paul and I have similiar food taste. Especially the mushroom thing.:rolleyes2 Now, I have been very anxious, tell me what do the donuts taste like? Do they taste caramel-ish? Everything looks so delish.

BTW, how does it work with ADR's if you are planning a wedding there? Do you still have to get up early this weekend and make any that are outside the VR events? I will be up VERY early Sunday to make ours.

Glad to read you are feeling better in the head :rotfl2:

First off, how frustrating about the bout company?! Grr...I hope that you get your bouts soon and that everything is ok with them. You are being way more patient than I would be. I think my conversations with them would be getting a little "heated" at this point if I were you!

And now...the FOOD! Those pics! Torture! I never should have read this installment on an empty stomach! Everything looks so delish and perfect. Your guests are going to be so happy with all that amazing food! Speaking of...got room for one more on that guest list? :lmao:

ooh, i can't wait for more!!!!

-Gah! I hope those bouts come in soon. That’s really unacceptable and the woman sounds a little off her rocker. The bout is just adorable though.
-Gooood idea about telling the FGs to close their eyes.
-Ohhh the strawberry soup. My mouth is watering already.
-Yup, now I am drooling over the chicken. We had ours with a cream sauce. I think about that chicken almost every day. (I really need a life.)
-Well, I don’t like steak, but I will have some of the pasta please!
-Omigosh I really want that donut. Just sayin. And I don’t even LIKE donuts!
-Yeah! They should have let you try other things besides those. That’s dumb.
-Awww the birthday surprise is so cute.
-Anddd now my rumbly tummy is going to grab a yogurt!

Ugh Beth that is so frustrating about the bouts! I really hope you get them soon so you can stop worrying about them!

But as for the good stuff... your tasting looks delicious! Oh boy, you've got me really hungry now ;) The flambeed donut in particular is so unique and sounds so good. And that chicken- I could have some of that right now!

Hi sweet Bethie
Glad to hear that the planning session went so well - all the food looks amazing!!! I wish I was a guest at this VR!!!
The woman producing the bouts needs a swift kick up the bum IMHO!!! That is absolutely no way to run a business!!!
Sorry about your head injury but glad to hear you are feeling better now!!!
Much love to you sweetie!!!

Yum! Your tasting session pictures are making me sooo hungry! I've never had the chilled strawberry soup, but I really want to try some. And the donut--so different and so delicious looking!!

I'm really getting horrible about commenting on everybody's PJs and TRs. I just read them and never say anything. So since I'm so ridiculously far behind, I'm just going to go ahead and get started!!

Arrival
-Can you believe I've never been on a plane?! Well I haven't!
-I'm sorry your team lost!!
-Glad check-in went smoothly. Ours was quite aggravating for the bday trip, but it was my fault. I'm hoping to start my TR when I get finished commenting here and over at Jackie's and Danielle's. (meaning we'll be lucky if I get started.)
-Yay bday buttons!!! I wore mine every single day of my bday trip. They def get noticed.. more on that in the upcoming.. maybe it will get done TR! haha
-Yall look so excited to be at Disney!!!!
-The room does look quite spacious! Snazzy decor as well.
-Do you know we had the 'Dole Whip meet-up', and I didn't even get one?!?! LOL
-That seemed to be how our trip went. Late nights and early mornings. We always do that. I'm usually dense and book a breakfast for super freakin early, like a *******!
-WOOHOO PS!!!

(Jackie, I <3 you and just so you know.. you're the reason I didn't post as much as I normally do while on a trip. I was trying to be like you!!!)

Even though you've already recovered by now, I'm sorry you injured yourself! Not to steal your thunder or anything (LOL), but I injured myself Monday before we left Disney. More on that in the possible, may get it started today TR.

PS
-We got up at 6am every morning.. but that's actually sleeping in for us. We have to get up at 4:15am for work.
-Yay for the pink binder! We're like triplets with our binders!
-The GF Cafe is awesome. It's really pretty in there. And we LOVE LOVE LOVE the juice at 1900 Park Fare (even though we like the juice at Tusker House even better than this).
-I've never had steak for breakfast, but I do love a good steak. I had an awesome steak for dinner at the GF Cafe.
-That French toast and bacon looks delicious!!!
-I got one of those cupcakes too!!! Yummy!
-Yay, time to go in!!!
-Those slushies are really strong to me, as a non-drinker. Am I the only one that feels this way?? lol I will say that I like the lemonade one better than the orange one.
-Woohoo Kathy!
-You deserve whatever you want. That's the beauty of it!
-I bet the groom's cake will look great!
-I can't wait to see everything put together!! It's going to look so freakin fantastic!!!!!!!!!
-Those chargers are GORGEOUS!!!
-OMG I want all of that cake right now!! It looks soooooo yummy!!!
-Just so you know.. our wedding cake was marble with peanut butter cup mousse (it was made at the BW bakery though).. but it was DELICIOUS!!! We were in Disney for like 8 days after our wedding. The cake was in the frig in our room the entire time. We never cut into the top layer. After we got home, we ate on that cake for a little over a week.. and it was still yummy!!!
-You're going to LOVE mine and Jackie's wedding!!!!!

More on the bridezilla rant!
Since I just skimmed over this trying to rush you along in your PS TR.. I'll go into more detail about my feelings on this matter. :) I think that's BS that they had you guys waiting around like that! *** kind of business do they expect to get pushing the due dates around like that?!?! Hopefully they will come in and all will be well!! I do like them though!

Tasting
-Heck yeah for the Cadillac!
-Yeah we drove backstage at MK and Epcot for our photo shoots.. not very glam! lol
-All of your meal selections look soooo tasty!!! I want to eat them all right now!!
-I really want to try that damn Flambeed Donut.. and I agree with Paul. I would much rather have it with vanilla ice cream. Sometimes just plain ol' vanilla is good!!!
-That was so sweet of them to give you that chocolate for your bday. We got a pic of the GF made of chocolate from the GF Cafe, and it' still in our freezer. I want to eat it.. especially cause it broke, but I just can't bring myself to do it!! We also still have our chocolate ears that were our cake topper. They're in our freezer too. We're going to eat them for our anniversary! lol

YAY I'm all caught up with yours. Can't wait for the next installment!!

I'm a little late, but I'm here again!

•I'm so sorry you haven't gotten the bouts yet. I hope they come soon--No bride should have to deal with that sort of issue. Don't people realize that's what starts the stress?! :rotfl2:
•Oh my goodness, all of the food sounds (and looks) amazing! The soup, chicken, pasta, desserts, EVERYTHING. Great choices!
•I love the action shots of the flambeed doughnut. The outcome also looks amazing.
•The chocolate figures are so cute--What a sweet gesture.
