B&P's VR 11/10/2012 UK/AAP/UKDP Day 1 Arrival & Epcot 6/10

Bethie, I love the photos Regina took. Well... all the photos, but especially those. :goodvibes I can't pick a favorite, but I love the one of you resting your chest against his. and the one where your head is back & you are laughing. BUT of course being a Bostonian born & bread....gotta love the NE vs NY shot. :lmao: We were undecided on whether to have dinner at the Yachtsman or LeCellier in Nov. I got the LeCellier ressie, but now.... your meals looked so yummy!
Also, my youngest would fall in love with your FG ornaments. They are her two MOST favorite characters!

Thanks, Dee!! We love our photos. We are in the process of picking 30 of them for our album. We both made a list and agreed on about half, now we just have to work on the rest. The Jets/Pats thing is huge in our house, as you can tell. When we asked Regina about the jerseys, she thought it was a fabulous idea. Just happy that it turned out great.

Definitely go Yachtsman, IMO. The food is much better and the atmosphere is a lot more relaxing. We are actually going twice in Novmber - once with a bunch of our guests and then on our last night by ourselves.

Your youngest has excellent taste in Princesses!

-Piffle, Bethie! I can’t stand DD coffee. Sbux all the way!!
-I cannot wait for pictures of all of your items by Shelley. They’re going to be fabulous.
-Your ornaments are so pretty. I love the still happily ever after one! And what a cute Disbride shot.
-I wish you were going to Ghiradelli with us tomorrow ☹ ☹ ☹
-Okay, love the picture where Paul is checking out your butt.
-And the one in the hammock! So, as Jennifer would say, romantical.
-HA! The Jersey picture is adorablleee.
-Is 7:30am too early to crave a Sangria??
-Oh, that’s great about Yachtsman helping you out.
-I had the chocolate peanut butter pretzel cake! That’s the one that I whined about paying $11 for. I still whine about it, but I’m a notorious whiner.
-I thought of you yesterday. When Chris and I were walking Smokey, we were both talking about the Beach Club and how much we like it and how we can’t wait to buy there. Oddly enough, I think after all of this our favorite hotels are the Beach Club… and Pop Century! Both just feel like home to us.

*FDD - Are you really a New Englander? Liking SBux over DD???? :rolleyes1 I don't mind SBux at all, I just go to Dunks more often.
* Thanks! Can't wait to see some stuff from Shelley too. We did have to nix the custom pin though. Way more money than we wanted to spend. Didn't really want to kill it, but it would have been about $30 per person and it seems like such a small thing for so much money. I also have fabulous things that Wendy has done for me to show off!
* Glad you like the ornaments. We do too. The lady looked at us kinda funny when we asked for Still to be written on the ornament, but we paid for it, so do it! :lmao: I hope everyone likes them.
* I was so happy to meet Michelle and I was so bummed that I missed Ghiradelli this weekend. But, I am so freakin' excited about February!
* We love our photos! Can't wait to do it again. The jersey ones are so us. :)
* It is never too early to crave sangria, however, it might be too early to drink the sangria! :rotfl:
* Athena at the Yachtsman has been awesome! We are even designing a custom menu (essentially just removing a couple of items) so that the kitchen has an easier time with out orders. I was so happy we went that night.
* I knew you had had the pretzel cake. I even told Paul while he was eating it! :rotfl2: The good thing for him was he got the taste without all the carbs for his blood sugar. Win win for him.
* Thanks! It is amazing to me how much certain hotels feel like home over other resorts. I feel sad when I have to leave Beach Club. Can't wait to spend 11 nights there in November.

I am so glad i got to meet you!! Meeting you & Justine was one of the highlights of my trip (aside from the ceremony ;) )! I am so happy that u have regina for 3 events! great updates :thumbsup2

Me too Michelle! Your ceremony photos are amazing. I am really happy about having Regina for so many events too.

Bethie, a side note.... I was just showing DH some of the photos (food was the bait ...photo session was the switch ;) ) . Well, I've been trying to figure out a new hair style for about 2 years, DH sees the photo of you & Paulie and he comments on how pretty your hair is, and maybe I should try that. :) I thought that was a nice compliment for you that I would share. And trust me he does not hand out compliments easily.

Dee, you made my day! Thanks so much for the compliment. Thanks to your husband too! Good job on the bait and switch. ;)

LOve the photos, bethie!!! I'm really far behind but I'll get caught up soon!

Thanks, Megan! We really do love them too. Can't wait to hear about your time with Chris at Disney. Hope all is well. Piffle on the Rangers! That stunk! :headache:

Crystal Palace and MK

We slept in a bit on Saturday (7:30!), since the only place we had to be was with Pooh at Crystal Palace at 8:35. We were going to spend the morning at MK and then spend the afternoon at the pool at the Poly. After running around for 2 days, a day to relax and unwind was just what we wanted.

We got ready and headed to the monorail. I will say that I LOVED staying on the monorail. Since we only did MK this trip, it was awesome to not have to take a bus. We got to MK in about 10 mintues and headed through the breakfast line. We headed down Main Street and did a couple of photo pass pics that I just don't love enough to save forever on the internet. :rolleyes1 I had decided since we were just heading to the pool later on that day, I would just throw my hair back in a headband and go and it jus

Checked in at CP and we were seated almost right away. I had put on the reservation that it was my birthday, so they decorate the table for us. I know it's just Mickey confetti on the table, but I do love that they do it.

092.jpg

Crystal Palace is our favorite character breakfast. We love the Pooh characters and love the food there. Puffed French Toast is one of our favorite foods on Disney property and we very rarely skip this meal on any trip.

When Eeyore and Pooh came around a lovely lady from the table across the way jumped up and offered to take our photos together with the characters, which was very sweet.

104.jpg

When Tigger made his way to us, we got some really fun photos with them.

108.jpg

113.jpg

Piglet came by too!

113.jpg

116.jpg

After we left CP, we headed out to ride some attractions and do some shopping. Right as we walked out we came across a mama duck and her babies. We also saw a ton of baby ducks over at the Poly too!

120.jpg

124.jpg

We rode a couple of rides - Haunted Mansion, Small World, Philarmagic, Snow White and some others I can't recall. We did a little shopping and decided a little bit before noon to call it a day and head back to the Poly for lunch and a swim.

I did have a not so great experience with a CM as we were leaving. We were heading out of the Confectionery and Paul caught a glimpse of Daisy walking back towards City Hall. We figured that we had missed her and while I was bummed, I knew that I have gotten Daisy before and would get her all to myself for half an hour at my reception. :lmao: I decided to go over and ask the people in line though who they were waiting for, when Daisy came back out! Yay!!! I head to the back of the line and there is a handler there talking to the last woman in line. As I walk up, I overhear them talking about the handler holding the woman's place in line while she took her child to the restroom to change her. Okay, fine, I can live with that. Not ideal, but whatever. She then turns to me and says that the line is cutoff. ***!!!!! I argue that she shouldn't hold the line for the other guest, but cut me off, when the woman may not be back yet. The CM tells me that Daisy has to meet Donald for lunch and will be back at 1:10. I tell her nicely that it's my birthday (wearing my button!!) and Daisy is my favorite and we are leaving that afternoon. Nope, she says, Daisy will be back at 1:10. NOT VERY MAGICAL!! She tells me to have a magical day and I proceeded to call her the B-word. Couldn't help it, it's how I felt (still do!).

Stormed out of the MK and headed back to the Poly. Hopefully, our day would get better.....

Next installment Kona lunch, day at the pool and dinner at Ohana.

Well, since I am sitting here dealing with an RA flare, I figured I would try to finish this up.

Before we left the MK, we came across this painting of Grumpy on the construction wall in Fantasyland. Paul is a HUGE Grumpy fan. If I could add Grumpy to our reception as a surprise, I would. We did get this photo though...

131.jpg

Kona Cafe

We took the boat back to the Poly and decided we needed some lunch. We had never had lunch at Kona, so we headed on over. It was a nice and relaxing lunch, delicious too!!

Paul had a burger, which he enjoyed. It was a standard burger, but still had to take a picture of it.

133.jpg

I had the Beef Terriyaki Salad, which I really liked. I figured I could use some veggies after three days at WDW.

132.jpg

We didn't get dessert, but I did get another birthday cupcake!

134.jpg

After a quick trip through the Boutiki, we headed back to the room to get ready for the pool.

I have to be honest that the pool was probably the one big disappointment we had with the Poly. I was so looking forward to it too. The pool is WAY too small for the resort. There was no room to do anything! There were no free chairs or loungers and barely any room to move in the pool. Also, after hearing for years about the underwater music, we were so upset that it wasn't working that day. We lasted about an hour. We should have gone over and checked out the quiet pool, but was so fed up, we called it a day.

We went back up to the room and watched some hockey and took a small nap. We were hungry again and headed down to the food court. We split the pork nachos, which were amazing!!! I would go back to the Poly just to eat these!

8CFFDCC7.jpg

We enjoyed our snack outside and were joined by another family of ducks. They were so cute!!!

5B19592F.jpg

We picked up a couple of adult beverages and went back up to the room to relax before our dinner at Ohana.

Paul even dressed for the ocassion!
D9DC3026.jpg

Our reservation was at 6:50 and we walked over to the Great Ceremonial House about 10 minutes before that. We were given a pager and headed to the bar. The waitress had just come over to ask us about a drink order when the pager went off. (We have never waited that little time at Ohana!)

We hadn't been to Ohana in about 5 years and was so happy that it was still just as good. Of course, we started out with Lapu Lapu's...

138.jpg

137.jpg

Next came the salad and the bread.

139.jpg

Chicken wings and potstickers were next up, along with 3 dipping sauces.

141.jpg

140.jpg

Next up came the skewers and the noodles. There were shrimp, pork, chicken and beef skewers.

142.jpg

143.jpg

144.jpg

The food was so good and it just kept coming! We were totally stuffed, but there is always room for dessert!! And Ohana's dessert is awesome!

Bread pudding with ice cream and bananas in caramel sauce. YUM!!!

146.jpg

We waddled back to our room and tried to figure out what to do next. Both Epcot and MK were open late, but wasn't sure we felt like either one. We eventually decided to hop on the monorail and head over to the Grand Floridian. Went into all the shops, but didn't find anything to buy.

I noticed it was almost 9 and I wanted to see the Electrical Water Pageant. We walked down to the GF Boat Dock to get a good view. This is so not Paul's idea of a good time, but he does humor me almost every trip. Right after the EWP was over, a boat headed to the Poly came over from MK.

Headed back home and we had plenty of time to see Wishes. Grabbed some more adult beverages, watched the end of the movie on the beach and waited for Wishes. Usually I love Wishes, but the amount of talking and screaming kids at the beach was totally ruining it for me. The parents weren't much better. Piffle!

We walked around the resort a bit (quiet pool was really nice and we totally blew it that afternoon ). Called it a night and was sad since it was our last sleep at WDW. I am never ready to go home and this trip was no exception.

Next up...Breakfast at Kona and Bye Bye Poly....

Adore the pics at CP with the Hundred Acre Gang.
I must know--are you still having Daisy at your reception?;)
To be fair, she isn't responsible for the B acting as her mean bodyguard.
Daisy would be appalled at her handler's behavior!
Thanks for keeping us posted, Bethie.
Rebecca

Your food porn is great, you guys sure know where all of the good stuff is! I'm taking notes for when we go back.

The ducklings! They were there across from the Crystal Palace when we were there at the end of March. One fell out of the grass and couldn't get back in and I picked him up and put him back. I'm so happy to see that they are still doing well, they are so darn cute!

BTW, I never knew about having breakfast at Crystal Palace! That sounds great! We always, always do dinner there when we go to MK and love it.

OMG, those nachos look so good. Can you tell I'm hungry right now? I need to get away from this PJ stat!

Bethie, I hope your RA is better today. I hope that's not why you didn't post today. Thinking of you.

Hi Rebecca,

Of course, I am still having Daisy at the reception! I want pictures and video of us dancing with the Ducks! :) My love for Daisy (and Donald) is much stronger than my dislike of the CM.

Thanks, Jilian! We really love Disney food, in case you couldn't tell. Making ADRs is one of my favorite parts of any trip. Can't wait for all of the ones we have planned in November. :cloud9:

We loved the ducklings. They were so cute. That was awesome of you to help the little one out. :thumbsup2

The nachos were amazing! I was so glad that I got them. They were made with potato chips which was a nice change.

So, I saw that you are planning on moving back to Massachusetts. That's awesome. We will definitely have to plan a DisBride welcome home party for you!

Bethie, I hope your RA is better today. I hope that's not why you didn't post today. Thinking of you.

Thanks, Dee. I have been been feeling a bit better every day. Neck is still a bit twingy, but can turn my head again, which is a good thing. Thanks for checking up on me.

I fell behind on yours too… but not as far behind as you fell on mine. I kid, FDM.:rotfl2:

-I’m glad you loved staying on the monorail. I didn’t--- but I’m glad you did!
-Oh, I love Mickey confetti too. It makes me so happy.
-Awww I’m glad you got pictures together. Don’t you wish there were Photopass people at character breakfasts?
-Your pink shirt is cute!
-Awww look at the little babies!!!
-Ha! Paulie is so cute.
-Yummmmm nachos.
-Did you like the lapu lapus? They were WAY too strong for me.
-I have a funny story about the Electrical Water pageant. It’s a little TMI though.
-Awww, I am sorry about the end-of-a-Disney-trip-blues.

Missing your updates. Hoping all is well.

Gah Beth, you know I suck at commenting.. so just know that I am reading along!! Everything about your trip sounds amazing. It just makes me want to go back to Disney!! :sad1:

I am so far behind on yours. I am so sorry. You have every right to chastise your FDM! :rolleyes1

* I am not so sure how much I would love the monorail for going to Epcot, but to resort hop and go to MK quickly it was great. I still think the walk into Epcot from BCV is much better!!
* I tear up at the craziest Disney things. I am such a Disney geek. :)
* Photopass people at the breakfasts would be an awesome idea. The handlers used to be there to do it, but didn't seem to be around this time.
* Glad you like the shirt. I have quite the extensive collection of pink Disney shirts! It's a sickness really.
* The baby ducks this trip were so adorable. Never seen so many of them. It was awesome.
* Thanks! I think he's pretty cute too! :cloud9:
* The nachos were great. I would have loved some today.
* I do like lapu lapus, but can only do one of them.
* Maybe you will tell me the EWP story in February.
* I do get the blues when I leave, but we usually have another trip planned, so I can start the countdown for that one on the bus. :woohoo:

Missing your updates. Hoping all is well.

Hey D!

Things are going well. Thanks for checking up on me. Trying to get some projects done and trying to organize all of the VR stuff that seems to have taken over my house. I also was in the process of trying to get my third newsletter done and then I killed my laptop Friday afternoon. So, now that will wait till later this week. EEK!

How are things going with you? Getting excited about the trip?

Gah Beth, you know I suck at commenting.. so just know that I am reading along!! Everything about your trip sounds amazing. It just makes me want to go back to Disney!! :sad1:

Glad you are still reading along. I have to go and check out your TR. Maybe I will even comment on it. :rolleyes1 I think we all want to go back all the time. That's why we are all friends!

I am going to try and finish the last day of our PS trip tomorrow, since I have some other updates (including our Floral BEO), but I killed my laptop and don't really love our desktop. We shall see how much time I want to spend on it tomorrow.

Thanks for reading along!!!

Glad you are okay. Good luck organizing. I can't imagine. :worship:
I don't have 1/2 of what you have, and my bedroom is packed with welcome/goody bag stuff. :confused3

I'm glad you are okay.

yes, I am getting very excited. Just wish the darn airfare would come down. DH keeps telling me August..3months out. I may have a breakdown before then. :rotfl:

Hey Beth! I am so so so sorry I've not commented in a while.. I'm terrible at it I know.

The planning session you had looked like so much fun and I loved your birthday suprise, very cute (not to mention tasty).

I adore the photo of you and Paul kissing infront of the castle & the shot you got of the Wedding Pavillion is beautiful.

I know you said you weren't overly impressed by it but I thought your food at Cali Grill looked good, we've booked a table for September and I'm quite excited to be going. Pauls dessert looked good... he's made my dessert decision very easy!

Your hair looks amazing, love the tiara and flowers. :lovestruc

Pauls jacket and pink short look good together, the colours really compliment each other perfectly.

The piccies from your photo shoot are awesome. The dress you woreat the Poly really suits you. Regina took some wonderful shots of you two, you both look so happy. :lovestruc

Aww lovin the Mickey confetti at CP. I'm very jelous that you met Tigger, I love him muchly.

A bigger awww for the Mama duck & her babies :')

You have my sympathies over not meeting Daisy (I had a similar experience with Belle and Beast complete with extremely rude CM )

Ohana looks nice but whats in the Lapu lapu? It looks refreshing (which is odd because I can only see the pineapple lol...)

I really wish I was headed to WDW in November, I would totally stalk your VR.

I promise I wont disappear again...

Much love to you xxxx

Hi Bethie!! :yay:
First lets start with my love. So glad you enjoyed Ohana!! I had to scroll through your pics real quick but my mouth is still watering!! mmmmm!

Ugh that B at the MK. Annoying. I'd have been mad too!

The baby ducks were everywhere during our trip too!! Must be the season! :rotfl:

I love the picture of you drinking the Lapu Lapu! Adorable!
Your day sounds like a completely perfect day for us, lounging, hanging out, taking a nap. Having some adult beverages, leisurely watching the EWP and fireworks. Ah, relaxation. I want to go back so badly! Foiled you didn't like the pool! You need to rent a cabana ;) But we did notice the feature pool was pretty crowded also!

Glad you are okay. Good luck organizing. I can't imagine. :worship:

Hey D,

I have still have too much stuff lying around, but I am working on it. Luckily, we have a storage unit since our basement floods, so I can move stuff over there when it is ready to go. :)

The airfare that weekend seems crazy. We have a bunch of guests of the 4:30ish flight on Thursday if you happen to pick that one. Good luck, the three month mark is coming up much too quickly for my tastes right now. I suddenly seem like I have a ton of stuff to do. Eek!!

Hi Ruth!!!

Good to hear from you! Hope all is well across the pond.

We had a blast on this trip. Glad you like all the photos. We love the ones we did with Regina. She is so awesome to work with. Can't wait to do more with her in November.

I love the way my hair trial turned out. Janet was great. I feel very confident in having her do it again in November (a couple of times). I decided to add a veil to it this week, so can't wait to see how it all gets put together.

We love CP for any meal, but especially breakfast. Tigger is always so fun.

What is it with rude CMs with the characters??? I wouldn't want their job, but sometimes they are so unthinking. ugh!

A Lapu lapu is a very potent combination of rum and fruit juice with a rum float on top of it. They are soooo good, but one is enough. :rolleyes1

I wish you could stalk too. That would be awesome! I would totally set up a DisBrides section at each event. I would love that!

Glad you won't disappear. I am hitting crunch time, I have alot to get on here!

Love across the pond to you!!!

Hey Tricia,

We did love Ohana. We hadn't been in a while, so I am glad you pushed us to do it this trip. YUM!

I was so mad at the CM. I was apparently muttering on the boat all the way back to the Poly.

The baby ducks were so cute. I would have loved to have scooped them up.

That was a perfect day for us. I kept going back and forth on getting the cabana and I am so mad at myself that I didn't go it. You totally did the right thing.

Okay...I have a new laptop and i am going to get the last moning done and then move on to all the other stuff I have to get done.

Have a great night and thanks for reading!

Hi Bethie,
Nope no Thursday travel for us. DH won't be taking that day off, and the kids will all have school Thursday. :( I know the flight prices are better that day. I think we will end up flying out of Providence in order to save $110. per person x 6! and that is just to fly down!!! But it would have been nice to bump into some of your guests at the airport/flight.

Lucky you with the storage unit! What a good idea if you have basement issues. Actually, good idea if you even need temporary space.

The 3 month mark is so exciting, but yes, it can be nerve racking.

Can't believe it has taken me so long to get this darn TR done. I have alot of other stuff to update and refuse to do it before I finish this. Well, no time like the present, so here we go...

Departure Day

Our flight was around lunch time, so we woke up around 6:30 to finish up and have breakfast before it was time to leave. I hate leaving day! Even if I have another trip planned, I feel like I am six and could stay forever.

I walked over to GCH so that I could get an iced coffee (loved that about the Poly!). Came back and finished the packing. It always amazes me that even though I ship so much of the stuff we buy home, how much I have to pack myself. :rolleyes1

With the packing pretty much done, I sat out on our balcony to enjoy my coffee and take some last shots. I loved that the monorail went right by our room. It was so cool to see it every couple of minutes. I found it amazing that it would start running at 7am and by 7:02 it would have already gone by our balcony.

152.jpg

157.jpg

I also loved the garden paths and quietness of the section we were in. While it wasn't the castle to look out on, it was nice and peaceful.

154.jpg

We decided to make a trip to the car before breakfast to haul some of the bags. On our way back to the GCH, Paul had to play the drums outside.

161.jpg

We took some pics in the lobby, even though Regina had on Friday.

164.jpg

166.jpg

We had an 8:30 reservation for Kona Cafe, so we headed on upstairs. I really feel that Kona Cafe is one of the hidden gems at WDW. The food is always good and you can usually get in. :rotfl: I had been there before for breakfast, but Paul had not.

Since he is a French toast afficiando, he had the Tonga Toast. He now wants to know why I have been hiding this from him on all our previous trips. He loved it!!! :cloud9: He especially liked that they served it with the strawberry compote, which is essentially Chilled Strawberry Soup.

168.jpg

I knew I could get a bite of his, so I ordered the Pineapple Macadamia Pancakes. They are so amazingly good! Never can finish them, but I love each bite.

169.jpg

We were not in a huge rush, so we took our time with breakfast and tried to soak in as much Disney as we could. It only has to last us till November, but I miss Mickey and the happy feeling that I get when I am there. But, it was time to go home to the boys. :yay: Went for a last perusal of the Boutiki and headed back to the room for the last of our stuff. :sad1:

It was time to go and I took a last look at the Castle and the Poly. Said goodbye to Mickey and got in the car. Shed a tear or 2 when we went out the main gate, but told Mickey I would be back soon. :woohoo: Headed to MCO and dropped off the rental car. Waited in the longest security line ever, but finally made it to the gate. Next stop the Feline Inn!

Sorry this wasn't more exciting, but we didn't really do much the last morning.

Up next....BEO's and more DIY projects!!! And my dress came in!!!!

The Tonga Toast close-up is making me salivate. And the bacon!!
Time will fly and November will be here before you know it.
Bet the boys were happy to have you back home.

Thanks for the update Bethie. The pictures of the monorail are great! I enjoy watching the monorail also. I can picture relaxing on that balcony. Was the road very busy?
Looking forward to seeing more DIY and YAY! on the dress coming in. Can't wait to read more....
