B&P's VR 11/10/2012 UK/AAP/UKDP Day 1 Arrival & Epcot 6/10

Oh my gosh, Bethie! Everything looks absolutely beautiful! Your VR is going to be amazing!

I am IN LOVE with your newsletter! So creative.

Just catching up with your plans - you have definitely hit the VR jackpot - :cool1: - great dress and accessories - precious flower girls - and the news letter is to die for - :lovestruc

Can't wait to see it come together - I'm glad yours is after mine so I can still get all "giddy" with VR planning madness.....:rotfl:

Great update, Beth! I LOVE all of your jewelry--- is it all Swavorski? Either way, it's beautifulllll.

Also, I am all for dying your shoes. I love colored shoes for weddings, and it definitely seems to be "in" right now. And I ADORE the flip flops; I had the darndest time trying to find fancy flip flops for my DP.

Anyway, everything is coming together fabulously!

Thanks, Jackie! The jewelry is all Swarovski. I happened to walk in one afternoon with a pic of the dress and they were able to help me find everything in about 20 minutes. I did take and try it all with the dress and it looks amazing. I definitely think I will be dyeing the shoes. I need some pink. ;)

I love your sparkly jewellry, its so pretty :lovestruc

And the silver flowergirl dresses with pink sashes sound gorgeous, a lovely compromise :)

Gertiesquidge

Thank you, Gertie. I love the jewelry too. I take it out and look at it quite a lot. The dresses will be lovely. I just can't wait to see them when they come in.
Fab update lovely!

The newsletters look amazing, great job with them.

Your jewellery is so pretty, it looks so good together. xx

Thanks for the comments, Ruth. The newsletters were a pain at first, but finally got it under control. The rest of them shouldn't be so bad, I hope. With this dress and jewelry combo, I will certainly be sparkly.

Bethie sweetie - Everything looks lovely. I love the jewellery!! I wonder why Shelly asked you not to use the 'Walt' font?? I have to say that I am not a fan of it myself, and think that the 'Mickey' font will look better!!

Thank you, Joanne. Since Shelley is the Disney vendor, she has been asked by the Disney family not to use the Walt font, therefore she discourages her customers not to use as well, for continuity. By going with the Minnie and Mickey fonts, all of our stuff (exception is the Epcot passport), whether done by Shelley or a DIY project will all look the same.

LOVE LOVE everything I have seen and read here!! Between you and tinkerbell 766..:) I am so excited...even if I have to wait until 2013!!! NOW to get my DH excited..lol..
My DD5 thinks if we "get married" again we will "have another kid"...LOL
Um..that ship has sailed....

Thank you so much. You have plenty of time to plan. Not quiet sure what to tell you about DD5. That's a tough one.

Oh my gosh, Bethie! Everything looks absolutely beautiful! Your VR is going to be amazing!

I am IN LOVE with your newsletter! So creative.

Thanks, Lacey! I was surprised how much I loved doing it. Looking forward to doing the rest of them. Thanks for stopping by! Hope you visit again. :)

Thank you so much, Mona. Glad you are here to get "giddy" with me! :goodvibes

I thought that may be the case in regard to the Walt font!!! Never been a fan of it for formal things myself and think the Mickey font will be much better!!!

Long time, no update....my bad, but we are definitely in a lull.

I have returned my room block information and waiting for my LOA to be generated. We have a meeting set up with Bill to sign it on our 12 month mark since we will be down at Disney. :cool1:

I have some DIY projects that are started, but need to get them finished. I will get pictures up soon. I have the Hidden Mickey brochures created, but not printed. I have the door hanger designs done, but need to get better at cutting card stock and using the Mickey punch. :lmao: I have also come up a design for 3 memorial candles that we need, just need to actually put them together. I have the Epcot passport figured out and, again, need to print them out and finish them. I also have started some Tears of Joy packets that I still have to finish. I really need to stop coming up with more projects before I finish other ones. ;)

But, the big news is our Save The Dates have gone out!!!! :dance3::dance3: Shelley from Impressions did them (except for the newsletter) and we love them! I have the preview picture that Shelley sent me before they were mailed. As soon as we get ours, I will take better pictures of them. Her preview does cut off what the lanyards look like, but they are attached to the pouches. The picture with the carriage is a magnet. Shelley really took our Rockin' All Over the World theme and ran with it. Can't wait to see what she comes up with for our invites. Sorry for the huge picture, but if I shrink it, it looks awful.

Hope everyone is doing well. I hope to get some stuff done this weekend and need to get moving on packing for our vacation next Friday. Have a great weekend!

Your Save the Dates look so cute! I love the lanyard idea!

And you totally owe us some pictures of your projects. Also, if you're having a hard time cutting the card stock--- are you using scissors? I bought a cheapo paper cutter at Michael's and it works really well!!!

And oOOO that's so cool that you get to sign your LOA in person!

Thanks, Jackie. Everyone loved them! The lanyards also lead into the crazy pin ideas that we are doing.

I do still owe pictures for the projects. I promise to get them up soon. Thanks for the suggestion. I bought a cutter from Michael's and it works well. I was using one before, but I have no patience, so it wasn't turning out good at all. :lmao: I still have a year, so I will take my time and get them done nicely.

We are excited to sign the LOA in person. I am glad we are there at that time.

Haven't updated in a while since we were on vacation for 2 weeks and have been trying to dig myself out since we have been back. I highly recommend Disneyland and a Disney Cruise, both we amazing. I will post some photos soon, I hope.

On to VR related stuff....

We had sent our room block and LOA info back to our consultant around Labor Day and had mentioned that we were away for a huge chunk of October and didn't want to go through it last minute. The best laid plans and all that....I am checking my email one last time before the car was to pick me and of course, it is in my inbox. It took all of my reserve, not to print it out and take it with us. We are spending some time this coming week looking over it. When I did a quick glance, only one thing really jumped out at me. Hopefully, it all looks good and we will sign it on 11/10 when we are at WDW.

We are giving pins to all of our guests at each event. Since each event has a character or characters or Disney theme assigned to it, the pins will correspond. We have been very lucky finding a huge amount of the pins on ebay, except for the pins for our Welcome Dinner. We are having a Lady and the Tramp themed Bella Notte and L&T pins are hard to come by or wicked expensive on ebay. They also can be pretty scarce in the parks too. Well, we lucked out on the Disney Wonder. I manged to pick up 18 L&T pins. :woohoo: I need maybe 12 more, so hoping to find some on the Dream and at WDW in 2 weeks.

We have been getting our pre-rsvp's back in. So far, we have 19 definite and 6 maybes, and 7 declines out of 45 invited. I know out of the missing we have at least half definites, including my best friend and our officiant and her husband. I think we will probably end up around 30ish, which would be great.

I haven't done a whole lot since we have been home on my DIY project since we are going away again on 11/8 to Disney and another DCL cruise, so just trying to stay ahead of all that. Will really buckle down on those when I get home. The one thing I really need to do when we get back is to work on what should be a potential 4 page newsletter that will go out with our holiday cards. I need some photos from the upcoming trip though, so don't feel so bad about putting it off a bit.

The big thing I have done since being home is I bought the bags for our welcome bags. I really wanted to do a real tote bag (especially Lands End), so our guests could use them later. Wednesday night I am checking my email and I get one from Lands End about saving $40 off an order over $100 (free shipping too!) and for one day only medium totes for $15! They are regularly $25.50. I split the order into 2, to get the deal twice and when all was done, the totes cost us $11 per. We are not doing them per person, but per family, so we needed 20. I bought the natural canvas ones with no color, since I know that most of our guests don't love pink the way I do. I didn't personalize them, but our Sears has a Lands End, so I can take them there to do it. I am so happy to give such a great bag and at such a great price.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Yay! I'm glad you had a great vacation. I went on a DCL cruise when I was 16 (gah, I feel old) and it was AMAZING. I wish I could go back soon!

I also wanted to say I LOVE your pin idea. Brilliant!!

Everything is looking great, Bethie sweetie!!! I am planning on doing my first DCL cruise in 2013 to correspond with a rather big birthday I will be celebrating :ssst: I have cruised before, but never with DCL, so I am really looking forward to it!!!!
Great that you have managed to get at least some of your required number of pins, and great bargain on the bags!! Well done you!!

Thanks, Joanne!! We love DCL, hope you do too!

Pins are mostly set, just picking up some stragglers. The bags look awesome. I will post a photo when I get home. Gotta love a bargain like that!

Go on another cruise. You will love it all over again!

Thanks for the comment on the pins. I have been an eBay queen since June. :lmao: I will post the whole pin scheme when I get back. They correspond to the events and the invites.

Today is our year mark!!!!

Just met with Bill and signed our LOA, so we are official!!! He said that we should have our planner by the end of next week. Woohoo!!!

Off to the Disney Dream in an hour or so, but had to post this!

Have a great weekend!

Bethie! Love love love the lanyards! Wish I'd have thought of that! Very creative, and all your guests will love them. (Can I be a guest? :lmao:) Have fun on your cruise! DH and I have finally decided to do a cruise for our (way after the wedding) honeymoon! I'm so excited. You sound like me with all of your DIY projects! I just kept adding more and more. Drove DH crazy! But in the end, that was the best part of the wedding, all the stuff I did myself! So you go for it lady! If you need any help, I'm in serious DIY withdrawal. Just sayin'! :rotfl: Can't wait for more updates!!!! :thumbsup2

Congratulations on signing your LOA!!!! :cheer2::cheer2: Have a fabulous time on the Disney Dream! Make sure you buy yourself a disney dooney on board! :)

Allie,

Thanks so much for reading along and for your kind words. Shelley at Impressions (who is fabulous!) came up with the lanyard idea. It fits perfect with our Rockin' All Over the World Theme. Everyone will get another one in their welcome bags, but the pouch will be filled with a backstage pass with their names on it. :cool1: The lanyards also led to our pin idea, which I will expand on below.

I am starting to take stock of my DIY stuff and figure out a plan. I still have about a year, so hopefully, I can bang a lot of it out in the next few months then I will be in good shape. I appreciate the offer of help and will call upon you if needed. :thumbsup2 Thanks for offering!

Congratulations on signing your LOA!!!! :cheer2::cheer2: Have a fabulous time on the Disney Dream! Make sure you buy yourself a disney dooney on board! :)

Thanks Jackie! It feels so official (and expensive) now! :woohoo: The Dream was absolutely amazing. What a ship! Can't wait to go on her again and our planned trip on the Fantasy. I took your advice and did buy another Dooney on board. It was even 40% off since the inauguarl year for the Dream is coming to a close. After I read your post, I told Paul that Jackie told me to buy one, so I had too! :rotfl: I have pics, but photobucket is acting up. Piffle. Hopefully, be able to post them soon.
_______________________________

Well, I had hoped since we were just inviting close friends and family to our event that I would be spared the guest list drama. Apparently not! :rotfl:

My problem is coming from 2 single friends of mine. I will deal with the easier one first. My friend, Michele, is my age 41 and still single. Paul and I decided (like we did for our first wedding) not to do "and guest" for our unattached friends. We also sent the right number of lanyards in each packet to make it clear. So, Michele gets her pacakge and sends me a text that she loves them, but how soon does she need to get the pre-rsvp back to me? :confused3 I ask why and she tells me that she has started seeing someone and she wasn't sure whether or not to include him. HE WASN'T INVITED, WHY WOULD YOU INCLUDE HIM!!! I didn't even know he existed! I text her back to just reply for herself and we can worry about this later. As I texted more with her I find out that it is a long distance thing (she is in FL and he is PA) and that they had (at that point) seen each other twice. And she is asking about bringing him to an event that is over a year away!!! Are you kidding me!! I haven't heard from her on the invite subject or how the relationship is going. I really doubt/hope that I will have to deal with it.

Second issue is from my friend, John. John and I used to live together, kinda like Will and Grace. When I told him about our event he asked if he was bringing a guest and I told him no. He complained a tad, but moved on. When I blew up about Michele, I called him to vent. At the time, he told me that she shouldn't even ask since we have so much individual stuff planned for each of guests that it would be asking alot to include someone else. Also, that we have 6 events for each person that we are planning. I thought, excellent, he understands, end of debate with him. Well, not so fast, I get back his pre-rsvp and he responds for 1, but with the following comment. "1 for now, unless you allow me to bring a guest like most normal people". I could have hit the roof. My problem with him bringing a guest is that if his current relationship busts before next November, I know who he will bring and we don't want him there. We like his friend, but his friend hates Disney and always questions us as to why we like it. WHY WOULD I WANT HIM THERE??? Anyway, I am choosing to ignore this situation too, until I have to.

Any suggestions/comments are welcome. How has anyone else dealt with this? Are we wrong for only wanting (and paying for!) who want there??? And I haven't even talked about the brother's family I am not inviting.

Sorry for the rant, but I had to get it out.

I have made some references to our pin plan, but thought I would finally explain it fully.

If for some reason you are a guest and reading this...please look away...

When we went with the lanyard idea for our save the dates, we start to brainstorm from there what we could do with them. This is what we came up with....

Everyone in the welcome bags will get the following....

1. A character pin - we have designated a character for each of our guests. We have put alot of thought into these and tried to come up with some good ones. Some princesses, some villains, some just plain fun. For the record -- I am Daisy and Paul is Donald.

2. A Year of Significance pin - What started out as trying to honor our married friends, turned into honoring everyone in the following ways...for our married friends their year is the year they were married, for our single friends their year is the year we became friends, for the kids - it's the year they were born. I then went and found something in Disney history that happened that year. Could be a movie that came out, a park or attraction opened, etc. The trick was I had to be able to find a reasonably priced pin to correspond. Some of these were not easy. :lmao: For our friends who were married in 1960, the only thing was the Swiss Family Robinson Movie (luckily there was a pin!)...talk about a stretch!

On to the event pins....

We have 7 events happening that weekend (guys and girls events happening at same time). We are using a different character on each of the enclosures for each event. Everyone attending each of those events, will then get a corresponding pin. The breakdown goes like this....

Ladies Tea - Alice theme for the invite - Alice/tea party themed pins

Guys event - Grumpy on the invite - Grumpy pins

"Bella" Notte Welcome Dinner - Lady & The Tramp for the invites and pins with some Italy Mouseheads thrown in

Ceremony - we are having a custom pin with Donald and Daisy (who will be on the invitation) created

Reception - I was able to find a ton of American Adventure pins on ebay that have Colonial Mickey, so we have switched from Lumiere to Colonial Mickey

Dessert Party - Tinkerbell for both

Farewell - We are going with the Mickey Mouse Club for this one with "Now it's time to say goodbye..." So, I got everyone the pins mickey ears pins.

I tried to keep it all as close together as I could. For example...my friend who loves Minnie, I gave Minnie to her as her character. For the ladies tea, I found Minnie riding the tea cups. Welcome Dinner - Italy Minnie pin. Reception - Colonial Minnie pin. Dessert Party - Minnie dressed as Tink. Farewell - Minnie ears pin. I couldn't do this with everyone, but for a bunch of people it works.

For the most part we are done with buying them. I have gotten some in the parks and a ton off of ebay. I hope everyone likes them.

Thanks for reading along! Have a great weekend.

All looks great Bethie!!! A custom pin eh!! Sounds great (and very expensive!!). Is Disney doing this for you?

Okay, first: I absolutely love your lanyard idea. I love how you've spent SO much time thinking about this!! And, I agree with Jo--- the custom pin sounds amazing. You need to tell us more about this. :goodvibes

Also, SO glad you bought a Disney Dream Dooney. You NEEDED one! My grandparents went on the Dream earlier this year, but they didn't like it much--- but my grammy has a difficult time getting around, so they prefer the smaller ships. I'm also SO irked about the Fantasy: it leaves from New York! I lived in Connecticut for 23 years, and then I had to go move and Disney comes to me! What the heck!

AND, as for your friends--- they're being completely irrational. For one, if they're not dating anyone, etiquette says you do not have to include a "plus one" for them, not at ALL. They should also realize it's your vow renewal, and they should respect your wishes. Your vow renewal is about sharing your marriage with people you love. I hope they get over themselves!

Thanks, Joanne. Haven't gotten a price for it yet, but we will see. Shelley at Impressions is taking care of it for us, so it probably is through a Disney supplier. We will probably start finalizing this once the new yar starts.

Thanks, Jackie! The whole pin project has been a labor of love. I have found some truly special ones and I think our friends will appreciate it. One of our fun character ones is for our friend, Billy, who is also Paul's personal trainer. We made him Hercules! He also loves to says "Hercules, Hercules" during a session so it just kinda fit. One of my DIY projects is actually to make cards for all the character pins explaining why we chose the characters we did.

We are excited about the custom one. A custom pin is really our only option since we can't find any decent options with Donald & Daisy. The majority of Disney wedding pins are Mickey and Minnie, and while we have nothing against the Mouses, our favorite characters are the Ducks (especially mine, I even named my car Daisy!). Plus the Ducks are coming to the reception! ;) I will keep everyone posted as to how it turns out. Shelley from Impressions has been amazing. She has the artwork of D&D in wedding clothes and we will probably add something to it to make it ours. :) Can't wait!

We loved the Dream, but I could see your grandparents point. Don't be upset about the Fantasy. It's actually the Magic that is going to NYC and it is wicked expensive. We priced the 2 night to nowhere and the 5 nighter to Canada in August thinking that coming from Boston it would be easy to do Turns out the price was the same as doing our 2 weeks on the Fantasy in October. Insane! We decided against it. :lmao:

Thanks for the support on the friends. I think that John will be the bigger problem in the long run, but we will see what happens. I will keep you posted.

Wow! I am so impressed with the pin plan...I totally want to be a guest, you can just add me to the list like all normal people, right??!? LOL, sorry though--it really isn't fun to have to deal with stuff like that. But it sounds like your plans are moving right along. I think its so fun that you have so many different events planned!

Your pin plan sounds wonderful!!! I am sure that your guests will be so appreciative of all the hard work you've put into planning!!!! :goodvibes
