August 9, 2011 (8/9/2011) Taking the Wonder to see the AMERICAN CHILD

That's an ambitious drive, but I bet one you will enjoy. I'd love to do it, but DH can't take that much time off.

I still have a couple of days before I can book flights.

Yes, I know, Time off from work may force us to Fly.
I get 22 days but don't know if I can take them all at once.

I plan to carry over 5 days from this year in addition to the 22, but we will see.

but still that is a lot of driving and sitting.. DH suggested driving, and even with 4 drivers, it was still too much sitting.. of course he wanted to drive straight thru:confused3

I finally got some books on Alaska from the library.. some many wonderful excersions.. not enough time..:sad1: guess the pick will be hard..

We just booked our flight (thank you frequent flyer miles)...

Flying out on Sunday, returning on Wednesday. I really could not get any good times for Tuesday. All the good flights were around 11am, and I'm just not sure that is enough time to get off the boat, get to airport and get on a plane...

I have read several books on alaska and determined..

this will be a wonderful cruise and we i think or at least well I am

Sea Kayaking in ketichan, boys may zipline there too and maybe me..
Juneau is Mendenhall Glacier and city stuff
Skagway is walking around doing Gold rush stuff and drinking Alaska Ale..

other ideas??

We are taking our chances on the 11:30 flight back since my kid starts school wednesday....

Our choice is a 7:44am flight or a 2:30 one, so our choice is really made for us. Now to figure out if there's time to do anything before they kick us off the ship and when we need to be at the airport.

We just upgraded to a cat 3 on our December cruise. Now I'm excited.

For those who are still considering airfare options - Air Canada allows 1 free bag per person each way. At the usual $25.00 or so per bag, that's $200.00 for the 4 of us.

Regarding luggage fees. For those flying into Vancouver it's worth looking into each airline since many don't charge for your first bag on an international flight. I'm just not sure if all airlines consider a flight within North America an international flight tho.

I friend sent me an e-mail with this link. It is laugh-out-loud funny but you may want to listen through before you let kids listen--not dirty humor, but families must decide.

Then I looked up NANAIMO and it is in British Columbia--across the harbor, near a ferry landing from VANCOUVER! So, perhaps this is an event for those who will be in the area for a few days? Spectator sport or participant sport.

:rotfl: But no matter what--watch it--very funny lady. :lmao:

LOL I laughed so hard.. that is funny..
thanks

Thank you Disney Visa Card for giving a 3X reward for charges put on the Disney Visa card (any charge over $500.00) AND for having a 6 month no interest on DCL cruises that go onto that card.

That was a little icing on the cake for this cruise....

Hello everyone!

We just got back from the WBTA on the Magic...it was a great cruise! Very smooth sailing the entire way across the Atlantic. From what I heard, Captain Thord (hope I spelled that right) will be the Captain for the Alaska cruises.

It was wonderful meeting new friends and seeing old ones. I'm excited to meet everyone on this thread in August! :)

Ed, today's almost over......where's the countdown dance? :confused3
