August 9, 2011 (8/9/2011) Taking the Wonder to see the AMERICAN CHILD

well that all depends on when the East coast half of the family arrive and what we have planned for them. I am sure Alana wants to show her East coast sister and mom things around here, but there is a lot to see in Vancouver and Victoria is just a ferry ride away.

I believe those east coast family members (Delaware, to be exact) are talking of flying into Vancouver and not our beautiful city of Seattle. They really have the nerve! :sad2:

Once again the west coast mom is correct :flower3: , most likely will fly into Vancouver since it will be easier and cheaper for us. Will probably arrive on Sunday, not sure if we will spend an extra night or just fly back the same day we get kicked off the ship.

WOW we are under 50 weeks to go, less than a year

anyone booked airfare yet?

Would love to drive it this year, but even with 3 weeks vacation I could not see all I would want to, so its to the air in 2011

I think it will be about 10 more days until I can book with Continental Airlines to Vancouver... but plan to book the day the reservations open. We are booking with miles, and if all goes well will fly in on Sunday.

Hi everyone....

My family and I are going on this sailing too......we are excited about planning this trip and would love to join the thread.....I just wanted to let everyone knownthat air Canada has air reservations open for our trip and their rates are very good. We booked laguardia, ny to Vancouver with a layover in toronto today for 254 one way without taxes.....with taxes and a 7 dollar food voucher the total was 284 pp.....we price compared the other airlines by pricing July 30th and air canada was the cheapest....I called them too and the agent said they are having a 20 percent off sale this weekend on the internet....just incase any one was looking.....we are anxiously waiting for southwest to open their schedule so we can book our return flight out of Seattle.....

Is anyone planning on going to Victoria? We were thinking of it and then taking the ferry from victoria to Seattle....opinions???

Also we booked the Sheraton wall centre hotel for our Vancouver stay and got great rates...We got a family suite for 310 us dollars a night.....and it will sleep all 7 of us.....so if anyone is still looking.....check it out...the hotel looks beautiful....

I am looking forward to sharing ideas with all of you!

We are driving up to Vancouver from L.A., making a road-trip/cruise sandwich. last Summer we drove over 7000 miles in 12 states up to Canada and back. It took about 4 weeks. We are looking forward to revisiting some places and seeing new ones. can not wait for 2011

I'm on Ct, thinking of flying, but at same time, a 4 week road trip, ct to Vancouver, with stops at Mt Rushmore and Yellowstone on way out and then after cruise San Fran, to Yosemite and the LA (Disneyland) then to Grand Cannon , St Louis Arch and then home is very exciting to think about. Would be 29 days, Sadly School for dd would start next day. I need to carve about 4 days off somewhere to make it possible.

Well maybe a trip like this in 2012 without side trip to Vancouver.

I have been so busy with planning for my upcoming cruise that I think I may have missed signing up for the FE. Do I sign up with you?

There is someone that posts on there that's from Vancouver and now lives in Victoria and they will posted they are more than happy to answer any questions.

Thanks for letting me know, I am out of Houston so Continental it is!!! Wow, 7 days! :cool1:

If you are leaving on Sunday the 7th, there is a group of us planning on booking the 9am flight out of Houston.

I'm sending you a PM with the flight number, etc...

We LOVE road trips. That's a bit of a long drive. You might not get to see eveything you would have liked to see. So, it makes kind of a "road trip sample platter." Some places you wish you had more time, others, just a few hours was enough! Mt. Rushmore, you have to see it. Yellowstone is awesome. My vote is for road trip. Lots of things to see. Why not do Disneyland and the Grand Canyon next time. keep your road trip in the north for 2011.

Great thought, That would shave almost 5 days off trip and allow me to add a trip to Niagara falls on way out, with no extra days needed to go out

We bought our airfare on Air Canada this week. Leaving Boston on Sunday Aug, 7th, returning on the 16th. Decent price and excellent travel times from the East Coast. WHEW! That's one more thing done and not to be worried about.

I have to wait a few days to get our airfare on USAir. I can get it for going out but not for the return flight.

The weeks are starting to click by now,

Airlines are starting to open up seats for next year.

I'm still toying around with the thought of driving coast to coast and maybe stopping by Mt Rushmore and yellowstone on the way out.

Time will tell if I fly or drive.

That's an ambitious drive, but I bet one you will enjoy. I'd love to do it, but DH can't take that much time off.

I still have a couple of days before I can book flights.
