august 2013 codes for rental cars?

I ran your dates with a noon pick up and drop off, and get $423 for the midsize SUV and $424 for the standard SUV. Minivan is $506 and a full size SUV is $574. All rates with the Insiders discount and Visa coupon.

Thanks for checking!! My times are 7 pm and 9 am...
I have a RAV4 (or equivalent) on hold at Hertz for $232. That looks like my best bet!

Question- I logged in as an insider(Alamo), used my pass holder code and visa code to book. Now since I logged in as a pass holder do we still get the second driver free?

You said you logged in as an Insider, used a pass holder code and a visa code (I assume one of those was a coupon code). Then you said you logged in as a pass holder. Not sure how you logged in. If you logged in as an Insider, yes, the second driver is at no charge. If you logged in as a passholder, let them know you are an Insider and they will give you the second driver at no charge. Just a FYI, by using the Visa code, you will have to pay for it with your visa or you will lose that rate.

Alamo's website keeps saying its exceeded. About to give up on the website. :(

Same here! I keep deleting cookies and history and have tried on several different computers at work. No matter what I do, I still get that capacity exceeded message. What's more, last month I did get a quote for $174.00 for nine days for a midsize, but now even though the confirmation shows in my profile, the website won't let me pull it up. When I click on the confiramtion number it says something about not available and coupon capacity exceeded.

I think I have seriously checked the rates at least a half dozen times since I found the price drop early this afternoon. I may need therapy before this is over :rotfl2: .

On the bright side, no hurricanes on the Atlantic horizon.....so we don't need to be concerned about that anyway! :goodvibes

I have only 2 days to go and my rate has not changed for Alamo in the last week or so.......fullsize for 14 days at $270 using Alamo Insiders and VISA coupon (which is what I booked at the 19 day mark).

OH NO

Shhhh....don't say that too loud.....I still have 11 days before I arrive :rotfl2: .

Enjoy your trip! :goodvibes Happy travels!

Well, back home again from another great Disney trip. I hope all of you are finding good car rates. I'll give you a few post-trip car related items...

I posted just before I went away that my Alamo rate at reservation time mysteriously went up about $15 when I went to do online check-in. I still have no idea why, as I made no changes to the reservation. I brought a printed copy of my original reservation with the lower rate in case the higher rate showed up at the kiosk. The higher rate did show up at the kiosk, so I took the rental contract receipt to the desk and a manager fixed it for me. What confused both of us is that the base rate changed, not the taxes, etc. Anyway, they were very nice about fixing it. Just bring documentation! If you get the same rate when you do your online checkin, you should be ok.

For those of you using Alamo, I can't emphasize this enough: do your online checkin and use the kiosk! You do not need to be an Alamo Insider to do this. When I arrived at MCO, there was no one using the kiosks and there had to be a half hour worth of people in line at the rental counter. The nearby Dollar counter was practically empty, so those of you using that shouldn't have too long a wait.

Again with Alamo, the lowest rate I found turned out to be 2 days before departure. Dollar and Enterprise's lowest were 17 days prior to leaving. In my case, I had an Alamo Standard from Aug 4-11 for $143 total using the Costco contract ID and a United Airlines Dividend Miles $30 off/week coupon code.

Another time saver I almost always use at MCO: I go to the Alamo kiosk while the family waits for the bags. Then I went back to baggage claim and beat the bags by a minute or two, then directly out to the garage. If you do this, you need to take the escalator down one level to get to the rental counters/kiosks, but to get back to baggage claim, you need to take the elevator. The up escalators from rentals go up to ticketing.

The fullsize/standard row at Alamo (yes, its the same row, so book a standard, not a fullsize) was almost all Altimas and Impalas. We took an Altima and was very pleased with it.

There are still two tolls between MCO and I-4, whether you take the North Exit or the South Exit out of the airport. I think the North Exit (SR-528) may have been slightly cheaper ($1.25 each toll?) than the South Exit (SR-417) ($1.50 each toll), but the risk of hitting traffic is much higher when you use the North Exit. I almost always recommend using the South Exit for Disney.

When we arrived on the 4th, gas prices were $3.499 at the Hess stations on Disney property. That dropped to $3.429 by the time we left. On the way back to the airport yesterday (leaving Epcot), I stopped at a 7-Eleven gas station just before the GreeneWay (SR-417) for $3.379. Just beware there are still some stations with predatory pricing...I know there's one (Shell) near the outlets on Vineland Ave. usually around $1.50 + market rates per gallon, the Mobil near Downtown Disney and I-4 is very high and there was a station on US-192 East just before I-4 that was $4.959 a gallon. I also remember seeing a station on SR-536 that was reasonable for cash, but had a $1.50/gallon surcharge for credit. Just be careful... A good rule of thumb is to use the onsite Hess stations.

Finally, a good portion of the Downtown Disney parking lots are closed. What they've done is opened up the parking lots across the street. I would encourage you to use them. The walk isn't bad (lighted parking lots, signaled crosswalks, etc.) and it'll save you the time of trying to find what spots there are in the main lots. I think one of the lots (more towards the West Side) might have shuttles running.

What a bargain the American gas prices are for us Canucks. I paid $1.27 per litre on Sunday here at home. That's $4.81 a gallon if my math is correct for the conversion.

Well, back home again from another great Disney trip. I hope all of you....

Thanks for the great report back to this thread. I appreciated hearing your experience. Posting it here makes it very easy to find for near future reference. Thanks. :thumbsup2

GREAT info! Thanks for taking the time to post! :worship:

Saved another $3.73 today rebooking my Hertz one day rental 8/23 MCO pick up, Cape Canaveral drop off 8/24. I combined the AAA CDP with the 20% off FL destination special. Intermediate car $35.39. If I could get that down to $25.00 I'd be pretty psyched. I'll keep checking like a nut!

Thank you!! They way you did the car pick up sounds perfect, did you have two drivers? Will letting one get the luggage while the other goes down work with two drivers?

On the bright side, no hurricanes on the Atlantic horizon.....so we don't need to be concerned about that anyway! :goodvibes

I have only 2 days to go and my rate has not changed for Alamo in the last week or so.......fullsize for 14 days at $270 using Alamo Insiders and VISA coupon (which is what I booked at the 19 day mark).

Ignoring the H word!:lmao:

Same for me...we leave on Thursday and have not see much movement. I'm at 273.61 for 2 weeks for a std. Visa contract and code.

Same here! I keep deleting cookies and history and have tried on several different computers at work. No matter what I do, I still get that capacity exceeded message. Hi,
Can you print what it shows in your profile? Have you called customer service?

I think so, but I didn't bother to add the second driver (although I could have since you get that free with either Costco or Alamo Insider).

If you do the online checkin a day or so before you go (it used to be 'Save Time Now'...don't remember if they still call it that), see if there's an opportunity to add the second driver info then. If not, bring the other driver's license with you to the kiosk, so you can enter the info there, if prompted. If I remember correctly, the only time the second driver's physical presence is required is after you've picked up the car and are leaving the facility (when you show the exit gate attendant your rental contract and driver's license(s)).

That is not bad for two weeks. 136.+/- each week for a standard (if alamo or national you will be getting a full size car) is a lot better than some rates that are out there.

If you use the kiosk or online you only have to have the second driver with you when you exit. If you use the counter both drivers need to be present.

For the first time in quite a while, my rates are UP. Not by much.....I locked in at $285 for a standard size SUV, and its currently sitting at $294.

Also interesting to note.....yesterday (or maybe the day prior), mid-size SUV's reappeared as one of the rental options (they had been MIA for quite some time). Now, they are very expensive...more so even than both the standard and full size SUV....but they are there.
