August 2010 Code watch

Yes:surfweb: patiently :sad2: waiting with equal amounts of frustration: :headache: and irritation  each time I log on:surfweb: and see:confused3 I don't have an email from :wizard: Disney Destination with my PIN:guilty:. Makes me  sick!

What kparc said... LOL Loved this!

This is my first time waiting for free dining and do they offer it too Disney Visa card holders first? And if so shouldn't they have hear about it soon?:confused3

Its usually the last few days of March for card holder than a few days later for non card holders so their is some time.

should I book my hotel/vacation package now or wait until (if at all) free dining is announced? If free dining is announced, I will call back and ask for the promotion??? I am hoping that I will have the hotel before it sells out
Sorry if this is a repeat question.

BOOK a room only NOW and then IF its released they will change it for you. Then you will have "room" held and not be sold out!! :wizard:

And get those YUMMY adr's booked too, with a reservation you get ten days worth at the 180 mark.

I really don't care about free dining but I am hoping for something a little better than the AAA rate I currently have (20% off FW Cabin).

On the other hand, if Disney believes they need FD for say, 75 rooms at Hotel X and you pre-book a rack rate at that hotel, you've just reduced the total pool of rooms that Disney believes needs a FD promotion to be sold. In other words, fewer people will be able to get FD because you couldn't stand to wait?

Not to be rude, but thanks for nothing.

Unless you're comatose there's very little chance that your chosen hotel will be sold out prior to you making the call. Yes, even Pop Century. By NOT jumping the gun, you maximize the total pool size of rooms being sold with the FD promotional.

I've already made all my 180 ADRs without a room reservation. I've gotten everything I wanted.

Doug 2 things - that was rude.:confused3

2nd - If they DO offer FD, even if those "people" have booked their rooms already and just ruined it for everyone else, You'll have to cancel the reseravtions you have already made and take your chances on getting the resturant ressie you want because they will have to assign you a different ressie number to go with the FD code. How do I know this? I had to do it 3 yrs ago. :rolleyes1

While he could have said it a little nicer :rolleyes1..he is sort of right. The more people that book a resort in *anticipation* of FD...the less rooms Disney may release for FD at that resort.
Having a room booked at a resort does nothing to increase your chances of getting Free Dining. For example...if they release 300 rooms for Free Dining at Resort XXX...the first 300 people to call for Free Dining, get Free Dining...it doesn't matter if you already have a room or if you are booking a new reservation.
Also - your ADR's are not tied to your reservation number. You won't have to cancel your reservations and rebook your ADR's with the Free Dining code.

HTH. :)

1) was anybody actually denied free dining last year, even if they had already booked?

2) No, you do not have to give up and re-book your ressies just because you added dining. IF you book a pay up front place (CRT, dinner shows) and you want it refunded before the day you actually go to eat and use your DDP credits- then you need to cancel and rebook with a different code. You can get around that by having the DDP added to your hotel reservation BEFORE you book your ADR's. It doesn't matter if the dining was free or if you are paying for it.
When you book ADR's they don't ask if you have the DDP, so it doesn't matter if you have it at the time of regular bookings.

Well, no, no it wasn't. If I would have said, "Thanks for nothing, moron!", then it would've been rude. But, you can’t rely on tone of voice on the internet, though, so point taken.

Then it sounds like you were really victimized by someone else's bad information. My cousin's done this for the past four years, always stays at Pop Century, always makes her ADRs before getting her FD reservation at Pop and has never had to change a single ADR because of it. ADRs are tied to a name, not a FD code or resort reservation number. People use FD in walkups and in actually trading ADRs with others. You check in with your ADR, are seated and then tell the server that you're on the dining plan. Whether or not you have FD really doesn't figure into it.

I'm really sorry you had to do so much extra work though - that must have been incredibly frustrating for you. Can you tell us who it was that told you that you'd have to redo all of your ADRs? Was it a CM, or someone from these boards? If it was a CM, were they with the vacation packages or at WDW-DINE? I think it's important that this be reported before such information is propagated to others. Can you remember at all?

I just got off the phone with Disney Dining Reservations and the CM stated: Yes, if you recieve FD after you make the ADR's you would need to contact DDR and rebook. Like I stated: 3 years ago I made ressie's and then was offered FD, when I called just to check if all was okay, I was told I had too rebook. The CM said the booking code for FD is entered into the system and is tied to the ressie and name. So....... that just leaves us.....

An awful lot of people would have to book rooms :dance3: for Disney even to come close to filing rooms and that ain't gonna happen. If FD isn't extended:headache:, the parks are really gonna be empty in Late August and Sept. So ADR's will be easy to get.

By the way, I don't need FD this year, I NEED ROOM DISCOUNT'S!!!:rolleyes1

Doug I have just "met" u and already love you. I don't think u were rude and when u type whatever noone can tell the tone. There are many CM that give u the wrong info. I was told by a CM and a travel agent different trips mind you I needed to change my ressies. We need a JUDGE DISNEY on tv to lay down the law according and frequently. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

:confused3
I was one that said book the room. I do so every year if I am not already on a bounceback. And no, I don't feel bad, (like I could not wait) I feel proactive:lmao: I know I am going, I book what I want, and if something (like free dine) comes out, I grab it asap.;
And YES, rooms actually have been sold out in the past, more so the values though...you can research it right here on the dis.
As far as dining and ADR's go, agreed, they don't go with your reservation number. I have also been onsite without ADR's and it was a nightmare during free dine. Lesson learned! ;) I book our dining as soon as our window opens, which also gives us the option of changing our schedule around in a more leisurely fashion.
Someone said that it reduces rooms for others??? That makes little sense to me actually unless I am missing something. :confused3 If a new promo comes out, the same allotted amount gets released, whoever calls gets it...but at same time, if you already have the room booked and you are just making changes, like adding tix/dine etc, it seems to have always worked that they HAD the promo available rather than not. I guess if you are willing to chance it, so be it...but I feel it betters the odds. If thats not correct, well it makes me "feel" like I have a better chance and that works for me :rotfl2: I feel like promos are being tossed around quite a bit this year, seems like there is something new each day...so I am hoping for the best and looking forward to some fun and food! :wizard:

:confused3 I am so confused. Are you saying they Disney CM told you that your dining reservations are no longer valid? That's nuts to me :confused3:confused3
But you do not even have to be on disney property as a guest to get dining reservations...when you check in at podium they have no idea who is on free dine or not. When you tell wait staff is when they know...so this is all new to me....with free dine under our belt at least 5 times if not more, This would be very different and new...:confused3:confused3

You do not need to re-book your dining reservations under *Free Dining*. Your ADR's are not attached to your reservation number. The ONLY time a reservation number factors into ADR's is if A.you are trying to book 180+ and staying on site. Or B. if you are booking a reservation that requires a credit card...like CRT. :)

Ok, wait now i am confused, so let me get this straight.

My mom made her room reservation for August, she also made all of her ADRs (3 of her ADRs are for a party of 11 b/c 3 families are going). So if free dining comes out and she calls Disney and asks that they apply the Free Dining to her room then she would lose her ADRs?!?! or no? I am so confused b/c that has nothing to do with anything.
