Thank you for all the continued prayers & I send them back to all in need of them Give Chiara much love when you have contact w/her again
I will - I also have a very small Chiara update below.
Which day to do you want to meet for ice cream? And where? Let me know, so I can get you down in my planner.
any day you have time would work for me
IF we can avoid a Mon (not counting BB day) or a Tues that would be better but really up to the 3 of you and I will make it work

thought you wanted to Ghiaridellis DTD but if somewhere else...Beaches & Cream...whatever..your choice I'd be happy with a Mickey Bar sitting on a curb with you ladies
That's right... I'd forgotten that we were doing DTD earlier in the week... We can certainly meet you at Ghiradelli's. The girls would love that!
The morning of our DTD day (Friday, Aug 23rd) is our late Ohana breakfast at 10:45. Now, the way they seat and how long it takes them, I am honestly not expecting to be seated any time before 11:30, give us an hour to eat... I guess we'd take the Poly bus directly to DTD? So, we would be there around 1pm? I cannot imagine that we would stay at DTD for more than a few hours? We didn't get very much time there last year - however - I know the girls are going to want some pool time on our day off, and I would like to have them in bed early (this is really our only day "off"), so I think we'd be headed back to the resort by 5pm? I have no idea what time we'd be ready for a "snack" that day - especially after such a big breakfast (ahem- lunch)... Probably around 2 or 3? From what I've seen of Ghiradelli's - those sundaes are a meal unto themselves.

I am also thinking that this is the evening we will try to do the POR pasta bar for dinner... So, we'd probably take the DTD boat directly to POR? Sorry for the ramble... Just trying to nail down our schedule a bit. But clearly - you are WELCOME to join us at any time that day Ruthie... I know the girls would love it and so would I.
That bag is so cute! Though I'm not sure about using a white bag....I'm such a slob....
Why do you think it scared me so much? LOL I wanted it OUT of my house as fast as I possibly could.
The Bag Is BEAUTIFUL and guess what I am watching right now ?? I kid you not a rainy Saturday here (yes AGAIN !) is a Disney movie day Bravo to you D it is simply

Thanks! As of now, no... I do have a couple of sewing friends that will be down there at the same time I am - but we have not even begun talking about when and where we are meeting... one of them is a good friend I met while in Charlotte last summer - so I am looking forward to meeting up with her again, and introducing her to the girls.

I think I am caught up!
The Mary Poppins bag is AMAZING!!!! Mary is my favorite.
Hi Ashley - thank you... How is little Jonah?
So how would you suggest getting dirt off a bag? We brought the messenger bag with us into the storm shelter and it got drenched and a little muddy. I am too afraid to clean it without asking how to spot clean it.
Well, all of my bags are machine washable... Now, since yours is interfaced (rather than quilted) - some of the interfacing may detach from the bag when you wash it - when you iron it, it should reattach from the inside - but I cannot guarantee that it will. I highly recommend that you spot clean yours first with non-bleach detergent to see if you can get any of it out that way. Otherwise... Delicate cycle... Mild detergent with out bleach. I also recommend you turn it inside out to wash, and wash it seperately from other items - if you have a lingerie bag you can get it into - I also recommend using that. All of my fabric is pre-washed and shrunk before I use it, so I am not worried about anything related to that. You can pre-treat those areas and scrub lightly with a product similar to spray n' wash or the stain stick... Just be careful - and if any of the dirt spots are on the applique itself - you can pretreat them, but you cannot scrub them - or it will wreck the applique. You can wash as many times as necessary. Then lay flat/hang to dry. Do not put them in the dryer. When it is dry - it will definately need to be ironed... Warm iron (set at cotton heat), being careful not to iron each area for too long, or it could scorch the fabric. Also, very quickly iron the applique - if you let the iron sit too long on the applique, it could melt the thread I used to stitch them down. Just go slowly and carefully. But I would FIRST- FOR SURE try to spot clean, if you can... just to see if that works. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Congratulations to Chaira! I wish her a quick recovery from her c-section.
Yes! I also have a very small Chiara update below.
GORGEOUS!! All I have to say about the bag.
Thank you Sandra!

Chiara update: I did receive a text from her last night that she was home from the hospital. I did ask if I could update everyone, but I did not get a reply back - I am sure she is resting, and will update when she can.

Yesterday was really an amazing sewing room day for me... I am working on my final auction bag set. I have waffled back and forth, several times, as to which character (and movie) I am going to base this set off of... I had two choices, and both of which I wasn't too excited about, but I felt that it was necessary for my trip budget to have a 5th bag set, and I wanted to stick with my theme. So, I started researching a few months ago... I bought fabric for the one, then I bought the fabric for the other... I still wasn't hit in the head with either of them.

So, I continued to work on my other big auction bags - all the while - letting this last one stew in the back of my head. Finally - last week - I took the plunge and made a final decision on the theme - I chose the one I didn't think I would choose. So, I cut it out and once I quilted it - it finally came together... I think it was the combination of the color of the bag and the color of the thread that really made me "feel" it... Then yesterday, I started appliqueing the character on the front - and while I was appliqueing, I began to think about another character that would also be perfect for this bag - however - it had to be on the front, I didn't want it on the back this time. Which sort of presented a problem, seeing as I had already mostly appliqued the first character, and there was no room for a second character... So, I had to make room...

I am now pretty excited about this bag... The starting bid will be much higher than I like - but it's very rare that I do 2 detailed appliques on a bag and this theme is just perfect for it... Not only that - but I really want to add a zipper pull as well - I was laying in bed last night when the image for the zipper pull came to me...

I am a bit nervous about this bag, because it is not a "standard" bag theme, and I am not sure it is even a theme that a woman would want to carry? So, I am very nervous that not only is the bag theme not a "female" theme, but because of all the applique work involved, the opening bid will be high - so I run a very real risk of not getting any bids at all on this bag and eating the entire cost... Which makes me even more nervous. Mo said I need to go with my gut on this, and just know that what my gut tells me is right... But sometimes it's just so hard. So, I guarantee it will be a FUN bag... I guarantee it will be an AMAZING bag... I guarantee that it will be PERFECT... But I cannot guarantee that anyone will want it.
^^^ Sorry for the ramble... Since the bag theme is Disney - I do belive it's Disney related? I hope. And it's trip related, because it will pay off my trip.
So, I finally pulled myself out of my sewing room at 6pm last night (oops - longer day than I'd realized) - sometimes I get so consumed with what I am doing, I totally lose track of time. I guess that's a sign that I love what I do?
The girls and I had leftovers for dinner last night... Then we watched Monster's Inc... It was on TV... We have the movie - so I don't know why we didn't pop it in?
Today, again, I will be in my sewing room - all day. I plan to stitch out that second added applique and hopefully finish this bag... That way I can work on the wallet through out the week - and maybe get started on my other planned items. I am running out of time very quickly.
Have a wonderful day everyone, and prayers going out to all who need them.
