Attack of the Lakeshore Lodge

I believe that so far only Riviera, Cabins at Fort Wilderness and Villas Disneyland Hotel are trusts. The expectation is for Lakeshore Lodge to be a Trust as well.

The only resort in the trust and being sold RTU are the cabins.

They are the first one. Many of us believe that DVD will shift to that model for all future resorts.

But, until they file documents it’s just discussions amongst some of us here!

Ok maybe I missed it. But what is a DVC Trust? Any other resorts a trust? Kinda confused

Short version. DVD decided to create the Palmetto Trust and sell CFW as a Right To Use plan instead of a leasehold condo association like all other resorts before that.

Right now, CFW is the only one and so it functions no different then the others. But, the potential is there for changes with future DVC resorts if they use this model.

LSL is the next project so we wait to see what they do.

I don't think we know...

What is fascinating is this could be the first Cash Deluxe Hotel constructed in over 25 years when it opens.... I hope they have something extra special in mind for that.... Especially given the location...

I would have not predicted the first Disney Deluxe Hotel in 25 years would be on a plot of land so far away from the parks.

I guess star cruiser may have been a deluxe? I'm not sure... Either way, this thing isn't disappearing in a year or two...

Anyone know how many keys/rooms the DVC side is supposed to have?

Chatter from seemingly reliable sources has been ~399 (308 not locked off) DVC and ~557 hotel, so ~956 total. I guess we won't really know what (if anything) has changed in the unit make-up until they announce something on the DVC or hotel side (or both). I'm still of the mindset that this will be a DVC/hotel hybrid as originally announced, but of course that's not confirmed either. Since it's easier to count normal hotel rooms from exterior windows, I can get close that hotel room count on the supposed "hotel wing" of the building, for whatever that is worth.

...and those reliable sources work somewhere that has access to the architectural drawings. At least, they claim to, and they've been right so far, so I think 400 max DVC keys +/- is good enough for rock and roll.

I should caveat I’m not sure if the numbers in my post above includes the A-frames (13) and treehouses (4) or if that key count should be added to the above numbers. I think it should be added to, but not totally sure about that. FYI. If someone who may know can correct me/chime in, please do.

Thanks, that helps put my mind at ease. I was afraid they would have even more DVC…given the size.

It will depend on the breakdown of DVC rooms, but in some ways I think LSL compares with BLT/CR. (If they are mostly 2BR and lockoffs).

Yeah, that's a *roughly* similar unit/room count mix. Unless you want to add CFW's 364 units in the mix. :-)

If it jumps to 400 keys, isn’t that close to BWV? (But, I think BW hotel has fewer rooms).

Now that I think about it, Polynesian and PVB may be the best comparison. Certainly more DVC rooms at Polynesian with Island Tower addition. However, CFW being so close to LSL reminds me of the longhouse DVC studios being only one side (and they were not part of the original Polynesian resort…pretty sure they were added in the 80s).

Looking at the aerials, LL looks about 2–3 times bigger than Riviera (300 rooms). LL has 16 building sections compared to RR’s 7, and some of LL’s sections have more bays. Both are similar in that not all sections have the same number of floors.EfiLwZeX0AAs7m0.jpgG3o9kG0WgAAQQ5w.jpg

Whoa!! Disney is doing a Jedi Mind Trick on us. Toss basically the same structure in different spot. “You are in the French Riviera”. “You are in the Wilderness Frontier”. “You are in a Polynesian village”. “You are in a Disneyland hotel”.
