Attack of the Lakeshore Lodge

Why didn't folks like the name Reflections?
Main things I saw in the initial complaints:
  • It reminded many people of a retirement home name, or a rehab facility. Semi-negative connotations.
  • It was an abstract name, rather than a reference to a place (Riviera, Polynesia[n], Caribbean Beach, BoardWalk, etc.) or a semi-defined theme (Pop Century, Art of Animation, Wilderness Lodge, etc.).
Combined, the question of 'based on just the name, what kind of theming or vibe can I expect at Reflections?' could be answered as 'retirement home or rehab facility'.

So, how are we going to call it? LLR?
I'm assuming that there will be a hotel side and a DVC side, and that the DVC side will be named something like Villas at Lakeshore Lodge, abbreviated "VLL".

Hmmm why would you assume there's a hotel side? 😇 If the trend seems to be toward converting more rooms to DVC a la Cabins, or building DVC-only resorts like Riviera, I probably wouldn't bank on a hotel division here either...

The post on X has resort at the end, but the WDWNT site does not. I think we can remove resort from the discussion.
Is DLL out? 😅

I do find it odd that the official name now seems to be "Disney" Lakeshore Lodge. Compare that to *Disney's* Riviera Resort, Disney's Old Key West, Disney's [everything else] it sure feels a little weird to me and sticks out. (I do realize the subtitle of Reflections had the same issue.)

The original plans for Reflections were announced as a partial DVC / partial hotel setup (with no specifics on the unit mix, just 900+ rooms). FWIW. Personally I suspect that will still be the case now, but TBD of course.

Early signs (permitting, construction, etc.) support that it will have roughly the same footprint as the original 900-room plan of Reflections, which was announced as split DVC/hotel.

And a 900 room DVC-only resort would be a gargantuan DVC resort. For perspective:
  • SSR is currently the largest at 888 with no lockoff splitting, or 1320 with full lockoff splitting.
    • Granted, SSR is a 2BR resort that relies on lock-off splitting for smaller rooms. Modern resorts are mostly Studios that also have some larger Villas.
  • Poly1 + Poly 2 is 602 - 648 rooms, depending on LO splitting, and is ~75% Studio by room count.
  • Riviera is 341 - 489 rooms, depending on LO splitting.
  • VGF1 + VGF2 is 302 - 349 rooms, depending on LO splitting.

It definitely could be a DVC-only resort, but until more is announced I'd lean against that.
