Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about "sold out rooms" at Walt Disney World.

We recently planned a trip to WDW and when we tried to make reservations directly through Disney, they told us the room we wanted was sold out. Then we tried to reserve the same room through other travel planners online and they did have the same room available that Disney told us was sold out.

Can some one shed some light on this for us? Does anyone have any tricks for how to get the rooms you want from Disney directly?

Thanks in advance!!! :earboy2:

Different companies and agencies have rooms blocked off - if you want to book driectly through Disney you may have a chance if the agency rooms aren't booked and they are released back to Disney...otherwise to make sure you book through Disney in the future it would be wise to start earlier.

Also, there are separate "batches" of rooms for the WDW online system, versus the telephone reservations.

I believe there are seperate batches reserved for online vs. phone reservations. For example last year I decided late I wanted to add on 2 nights at an all-star resort. I called and called and there was no availability. Then one night I tried online and it showed availability so I immedietly called and they said there was none. I wasn't too keen on booking online since the computer I had then was slower than molasses and I was on dial up but it became my only option to get the room I wanted. Even after I told them I saw it online and couldn't I book it over the phone they said 'no' and I better grab it online if I wanted it.

I called and checked room availability several times a day. You never know when someone will change their reservations and give up thier rooms. Since people have up to 5 days (I think) to cancel, check often. Also, one CM told me that rooms are blocked off to Expedia, who buys rooms by the 100's. That's why there is different availability online with Disney, other online vendors, and as others have mentioned, when you call Disney direct. Be persistant and I hope you get your rooms!!
