Aquatica tips needed!

Hi!

We are headed to Aquatica with a group of 10 people on Wednesday. I have been to the Disney water parks, but never Aquatica. Looking for any tips you can give me....especially where to find a nice shady spot for all 10 of us to put our stuff down and set up a base camp. We will be leaving the park around 6pm for dinner at Delmonico's as we have reserved a private room for a family get together. We are a group of adults along with 4 kids, ages 6, 7, 11, 12. Are there tubes for the lazy river? By the pictures I have seen it looks like everyone floats in life vests?? Thanks for any info you can provide!

Top tip #1: Get there early. Just before park opening, in enough time to park and be standing at the gate for rope drop. Be one of the first ones in.

Find a shady spot to set up camp (consider snagging one of these big umbrellas on the beach adjacent to the two wave pools....they are free but available on a first come, first served basis):



and put your valuables in a locker.

Then, ride the big rides first. Lines for the headliners in particular (Ihu's Breakaway Falls and Dolphin Plunge) will get busier as the day goes on.

There are two lazy rivers. The traditional one is slow-moving and has tubes:



It also features a fish grotto:



The second lazy river is called Roa's Rapids. Definitely NOT a "lazy" river, and features a current that will sweep you off your feet. Best enjoyed with a life jacket, regardless of your swimming abilities....lift your feet and GO! (its a ton of fun ):



In addition to Roa's Rapids, the wave pools:



and the children's interactive area:





are good places to spend the busiest part of the day.

There's two lazy rivers at Awuatica. There's Roa's Rapids where it's actually fast. They provide life jackets and I recommend taking them because it's nice to have one to just float in the strong current. Then there's Loggerhead Lane which is a traditional lazy river but they require you to be in a tube. They have single tubes and double tubes. Loggerhead Lane passes under an aquarium with fish and under the dolphin tank but not on the same route.
As for the finding a shady spot I would recommend getting there early if you want a spot in the sand by the wave pool. I know there's other spots around the park that might have shade but I'm not sure where they are exactly. Most shade spots fill up early in the summer.

I really really reccomend Roa's Rapids, grab a life vest and bump along in the fast rapids, it is much more fun in the fast rapids than it is in the slow lazy river.
