AQR (Attraction Queue Return) Usage Reports

Generally speaking I think it is very helpful to understand the "fine print" so to speak regarding who is or isn't eligible for DAS. While a "generic" group of 3 people don't qualify for it, there could be hundreds that do. I think most people (except me actually) want to stay with their group - and in some situations - example: Make a Wish groups - that can often happen. But I don't think it is a required action to make sure that happens regardless of disability. Getting a return time from a CM so everyone can venture forth together seems to be a good option.

I do hope that anyone who feels slighted or some type of way regarding responses, understands that many times something we read brings up another thought.

The problem with using RTQ too much means it's simply DAS use by a different name, and DAS use is what Disney is trying to minimize.

I had to leave a LL line 3x over 2 days at disney due to my issues. I did let my family go on without me though (was travelling with a large group at that time). But I'm very positive I will need to use RTQ very frequently. Do they keep track of who uses it? I don't want to get flagged or something thinking I'm trying to abuse the system.

Is there a reason you couldn’t meet back up with your family? That doesn’t usually give a return time (assuming by “RTQ” you mean a return time).

I didn't really know it was a possibility at the time and didn't want to make them get off the line since they were getting close to the end. If it's a longer line and they had to wait anyway I might try to track down a CM. Are they typically easy to find on the lines?

Please consider that non-disabled guests traveling with two people also not disabled do not have to wait alone to access attractions. People who are in a group generally are in a group to spend time with each other, not to get separated just because of something outside their control that makes a queue inaccessible. It’s not equivalent access if disabled guests have to be alone when non-disabled guests don’t have to be. At any rate this is just speculation on my part, the CM said nothing about my party size, and it didn’t seem like something routinely granted as the scanner device used to add the time to our magicbands was locked up.
When I brought this up here (wanting to be together while waiting) I was skewered by many posters. It seems that compassion is thin, and spending time together on vacation, especially idle time while waiting in a queue or alternative area, is not considered valuable time in one's life. I'll probably get skewered again, but glad you got a more compassionate response from some posters.

I’m not going back to retrace whatever prior discussion occurred ….but anybody who needs to leave the queue is separated from their party. Disabled or non-disabled alike. The disabled are not singled out in this, they are treated exactly the same as a non-disabled individual/party.

And what if they need assistance when they leave?

What if they are a young child?

This isn’t a new thing. A parent who has waited in line for 90 minutes with a child who suddenly needs the bathroom before boarding the ride has never been told “too bad, go to the back of the line”. The CMs will address the issue in a fair and reasonable manner, whether they are bathroom related, medical concerns, or anything else.

Then someone goes with them. In my case I may need my wife if I leave the line which means our kid comes too and we all leave the line. There are endless possibilities and the CMs will help you sort it out when it happens.

AQR accommodation allows for an attendant. They both can rejoin party upon return.

I thank you for your input. I know the answer. I was replying that to THAT particular poster because of their ableist tone.

Do you mean one of our moderators in this forum, who has a disabled child herself and who volunteers her time to help keep the discussions here on-track and useful? An ableist?

Please. Pointing out facts is not ableist.

I don’t give a flying fart in space who they are, who their kids are or what they do. I am saying THAT particular comment is ableist.

The end.
You seem to be the only one who sees it that way, but you’re welcome to your opinion.

I had the DAS for 14 years since I was 8. I tried to renew it after the change and got denied. The Cast Member told me, "I have ADHD and didn't, so you shouldn't qualify either," even though I have Asperger's and OCD, which are different. Anyway, I tried again last night to speak to a coordinator to try and get it again, and they told me that once a decision is made, it can't be changed. I was given in-park accommodations, which I tried to use with my family. My family went to wait in the line while I waited outside, which was kind of sad since it was my cousin's first time going, and I wanted to spend time with him. We were only able to ride four rides when normally we ride so much more. Later in the day, I tried a ride alone to see how it would work alone since I go alone a lot. I told the person about my accommodations, and the two Cast Members told me the line wasn't long (45, 35, and 40 minutes) and that I should be able to wait perfectly fine. To be honest, being told that I could wait in those lines fine was rude to me. I know what I can and can't do, and being told that I could wait in a long line with no problem is messed up to me.

I agree that it was 100% wrong for the CM to tell you what you should/shouldn't be able to wait...I am confused however as to why you were able to ride so many fewer rides.
