April Hours Shortened!

What I really don't get, though, is why air travel is so booked to Florida if no one is going to Disney World... I just booked my airfare for April 4-11. The week prior to that, as well as the early May posted airfares of $183 from Seattle to Orlando. However, for the entire month of April, cheapest airfares are $399. My travel agent had a hard time finding us seats. I mean, it is PACKED! So where are all those people who are traveling to Orlando going, if not Disney World? I hate to say it, but I think Disney might be using the looming crisis to their financial advantage. I feel awful saying it, because I've always been a Disney Loyalist - however, I don't feel they are being loyal to us!

I think there are A LOT fewer flights going in and out. Southwest is seemingly the only major airline NOT going out of business.

Yeah, I definitely agree. Airlines have trimmed their flight schedules to get flights as full as they can. Fewer, but fuller, flights bring in a lot more profit than more flights with the same total number of passengers.

Which is the same thing as Disney is doing. Fewer, but fuller, park hours brings in more profit.

You might be interested to know that packaged holidays from the UK to Florida during most of April are sell outs - You have been warned - The brits are coming !!!!!

Oh, how sad that they've cut the hours at this time of year. I have been checking occassionally & although they weren't open as late as previous years (MK open until midnight!) they're weren't THAT bad.

On some occasions when we have been in the "world" they have extended the hours to our surprise. Maybe that will happen this time.

Sometimes we just like to go into the parks around 7 or 8 p.m. & spend the rest of the night there. I guess our vacation will be a little different this year. :(

I'm sure we'll have fun regardless, but I also wish they were open late again. Also, I could have sworn the water parks were open until 7:00 & now it's 6:00. I'm a right or just imagining this.

Dear Tom, you posted the following on this thread.

We're lucky they don't close down completely. Once Bush starts his war, WDW will be a ghost town again. I'm sure that's what they're planning on.

As long as the economy is bad and everybody is afraid, Disney is going to do poorly. And the worse their bottom line is, the more they're going to cut back. This is probably just the beginning.

Please keep your political comments to the debate boards. We all have our own comments on the war and the consequeces of such, that is why there is a debate board for those comments. Thank you.

Dear Currycook:

I'm glad we've had a censor appointed for this board. My comment was about the shortening of hours at WDW. Coincidentally, that's what this thread is about. But thanks for your input.

She also stated she didn't realize until after 9/11 how much we all depend on each other. If the hotels don't get business it works all the way down to the salesperson selling toilet paper. There's not as many people coming so the trickle goes all the way down and affects all of us.

I am sorry, but I am cracking up here! Was the trickle pun intentional?!

Okay, back on topic. I too wish that Disney would post more conservative hours and then add instead of the opposite way around. I think it would be so much better for their image. Just think if they had originally said the MK would be closing at 10:00 every night and then changed a few of them to 11:00. People would be so excited instead of mad at them

I am sure all of you will enjoy your trips, sorry you won't have better hours with those Easter crowds!

Tom, no one's war will keep me away from WDW, but I think you are right on the mark for most people! (I also thought your post was perfectly appropriate for this thread and with a brother in the military, I'm a support your commader in chief kind of a girl.)

Wow, the trickle wasn't intentional - I wish I were that clever!!! I will have to read my posts carefully in the future!

Anyway, now I'm more concerned with the Worldwide Health warning..... it's nothing to fool around with - I hope things are under control soon. WDW brings people from all over the world and a virus could spread very quickly with buffets, etc. Sorry to be such a downer but it's definitely on my mind for our upcoming vacation.:(

Coincidentally, that's what this thread is about. But thanks for your input.

Yes - that is what this tread is about - isnt it. And your welcome.

I started the thread to vent about shorter hours in April not start a debate:(

Tom your post seemed appropriate and we really need to be a bit kinder to one another and not jump to conclusions and disect posts to pieces.

Let's all have a great time while we are there and forget about being so quick to point fingers!
:D :D

Have a blessed day all and enjoy!

Brightest Blessings,
Emmy
