April 6th dcl announcement

I know you were . . . and I was just joking . . . I meant no harm or insult at all. . .

Perhaps you should recognize that your style of joking just doesn't fly on a message board. Normally I just move on when someone posts something that I might be critical of, but Buddy, your "in your face" attitude and condescending "don't you watch the news" comments are absolutely ridiculous.

There are many ways to keep the guessing game going. From the length of the previous threads, people are doing a great job speculating and having fun with the thoughts of different home ports, possible itineraries etc. Honestly, I can't imagine even posting an "I know something you don't know" post. Seriously:confused3

And although you might be impressed that you know someone at the top of the Disney hierarchy, I would much rather rest on the laurels of who I am instead of who I know.

I'm sure this comes across as pretty harsh, and I've never posted anything like this before (and hope to never do so again).

WOW! What a brutal bunch!:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

I have never been brutal on these boards before and like I said, I hope I won't ever do it again. I'm not proud of being openly critical of someone and usually try to look beyond the words to try to find some value in a post. I just don't understand the "in your face" nature of his post.

I'll put it this way . . . if one of you guesses correctly I will say so . . . some of you were on the right path . . . but you only have half of it . . .

My guess -

One ship (I was betting the Magic until the Wonder's name popped up on the port schedule) goes to Hawaii, stopping at Oahu on May 6-7, then Kauai on May 7, before embarking on a voyage to to Asia with the primary destination being Hong Kong, since DCL has touted its investment in China as being as significant or more significant than it's purchase of land in Florida many years ago. Prior to the tsunami, I was also betting that they would include a stop in Japan, which hopefully will still be possible given we're talking well over a year away, but who knows. Perhaps the ships stays over there and sails out of an Asian port for the summer, tying in the Asian Disney parks before reversing the process in September, with a final stop at Oahu or Kauai in mid-September before sailing back home to Galveston to start sailing modified Western Caribbean routes.

The other ship sails out of NYC, with perhaps some side trips to the eastern med. to satisfy all of us looking for Greece as a stop. They could start sailing out of Baltimore to start driving interest in the planned resort at National Harbor that Disney was planning to build, but given nothing has started on that development, it won't be ready until 2013 or 2014 at the earliest. Baltimore would still give them easy access to the Washington DC tourist area, though DCL already tried and failed once to build a park in the area, so they could be gun shy of moving too quickly into the area.

Or, the 2nd ship could stay within sailing distance of LA, which would give DCL coverage of DL, WDW, and the Asian locations from it's various cruise ships.

Halls of VA I would LOVE Baltimore! It's so close for us and we had such a nice visit there at the beginning of March. My husband threw out Fiji, New Zealand, Tonga, Tahiti as wishes for him.

The latest news we are hearing is that the new itineraries will be announced April 6 at 12:30PM Eastern time. Platinum and Gold Castaway Club members can begin booking on 4/7 and general public will begin on 4/11.

Aren't Disney contracted to the Port of LA during 2012? I know they will likely relocate during the Summer, and I would not be surprised if Hong Kong was the destination (although I really want to sail Hawaii to Vancouver), but that would rule out Galveston for the Wonder the rest of the time.

I was originally going to throw out a guess for Australia, but wanted to look at a map first to make sure that wouldn't take them into the area where the pirates are so prevalent. Looking at the map, it doesn't appear that it would, so perhaps Australia, New Guinea, and NZ are additional options along with the Asian ports.

Here's another thought. The London Olympics are 27 July - 12 August 2012. My next prediction is that ABD offers an Olympic Spectacular package or series of packages, and it's tied in to a Disney cruise that sails you over for the Olympics, and perhaps even offers you a place to stay during the Olympics, or at least moves you around to some of the various Olympic sites hosting the various events.

For awhile there, when the Cayman port switched to show the Wonder, not the Magic, sailing regular cruises to Grand Cayman, it seemed like DCL might be considering pulling out of LA. But that has switched back, so perhaps it's the Magic's fall home starting the end of September. Either that or they were just disappointed that we noticed the change, and changed it back temporarily until after the announcement.

Okay some speculation here:

Are we absolutely sure that the Fantasy/Dream is staying in the Port Canaveral/Bahaman/Caribbean area?

I would assume the Wonder would stay on the West Coast, maybe Hawaii. Alaska cruising season tends to be over early-mid September so....

Could Disney have bought another private island, in the Med or maybe off the Pacific coast?

Is an Around the World cruise a possibility?

An extended Cruise to Nowhere itinerary? Possibly out of New York?

Sorry, just trying to thing big and out of the box here.

I believe DCL is committed to home porting the Dream and Fantasy out of Port Canaveral for their first 3 years.

I was thinking about the round the world cruise, but that's where I got stuck thinking of that area where the pirates are roaming heavily. It doesn't seem to bode well for around the world sailings these days and I wonder if DCL would risk it, or can they find a better way.

I would love either options!!!:yay:

You mean those pesky "Pirates In The Caribbean." :lmao::lmao:

OK lame I know, but I couldn't help myself!

For Sept Wonder is going to Hawaii Oahu Sept 16, then Hilo on the 17th then As ISS Sept 18th for Kuai. No listing for Kona or Maui. Maybe those are being hidden for now.

Plus, now that I think about it, an Around the World cruise for a line like Disney is probably not the wisest financial investment. Not many people in any area of the world can just take off for 3 or 4 months at a time. When you add the idea of taking kids out of school to the mix, I just don't think it would happen.

So here is my guess…..

Magic
Stats out 2012 doing cruises from PC and then when the fantasy rolls around still does cruise but the opposite of the fantasy. Then off to Europe for some UK cruise and some East med.(Egypt area or not??) Then back to PC to again opposite the Fantasy.(confirmed by port of Grand Cayman)

Wonder
Starts out with mexico cruises. The goes on a Trans-Pacific with a stop in Hawaii then on to Asia. Hong Kong(Duh!!), Japan(ish..), around there. The back to LA after stoping in Hawaii. Then retuning to Mexico cruises.

Dream
Keeps doin whats it's doin(basically has to because of contract)

Fantasy
Begins in April and does lots of 7 nighters. (again contract)

Can't wait to find out!!! Grad cruise here I come!! pirate:

Question for you - If both the Magic and Fantasy sail out of PC, what day do you see the Magic sailing on? The Dream has Thursdays and Sundays, and the Fantasy will take over the Saturday dates. DCL has received nothing but bad feedback the few times it has had two ships in port canaveral at the same time (and taking on passengers) so I think it would have a difficult time trying to do that on a regular basis, and a non-weekend departure or arrival could impact it's target cruise audience.

After April 2012, the Magic is not listed as stopping at St Maarten (least it wasn't last time I checked.) It's also listed as stopping weekly at Cayman, not bi-weekly.
