April 6, 2008 - 4-night Spring Break Cruise - Anyone else going?

Just bumping the thread up a bit. Any more takers? Life is still in the fast lane here...

Hello everyone,

My family will be sailing on the April 6th, 2008 Wonder cruise with you! We're very excited; this will be the second cruise for DW and DD9, and first cruise for DD5. Our first DCL Wonder cruise was in April 2001.

We're staying at Port Orleans Riverside on the 5th, as well as a night at Pop Century (Scopa Towers) on the 10th before heading home to Indiana.

Thanks for starting the thread. It will be a lot of fun to stay up-to-date on everyone/everything before the cruise.

Take care,

Brian

Hi Brian! Welcome aboard! :boat:

I think there will be a group of us at the Radisson near the port the night before. Our kids are about the same ages as yours. It will be the first cruise for all of ours. We're still not sure if we will hit a park afterwards.

I can't believe I haven't DISed since July! That's just wrong!

Today, when applying for my kids' passports, the lady at the post office noticed our cruise listed on the applications. She said, "Wow! You're going on a Disney Cruise!" Since we were not going to tell our kids for a while, the suprise has now been spoiled.:sad2:

So much for our great present opening suprise!

So anyway, I've just introduced the girls to all the DCL media.:cool2: They are really looking forward to having the dismeet at the pool. So let's get this started. In my next post I will start a list of who will be on the cruise and where they are staying the night before. It's time to get obsessed, folks!:yay: :yay: :yay:

See ya' real soon!:mickeyjum

Hi everyone,

Since we're now at 114 days, I am starting to think about all of the stuff I need to do at 90 days on the DCL site since we are Castaway Club members. Any other Castaway Club members in the group that have used the online tools to make excursion, Palo, and Oceaneer Club & Lab arrangements? Is it pretty easy to do?

Thanks!

Brian

We are also on the Spring Break Cruise. This is our second one. Our first was in 2004 when we lived in Palm Harbor, FL and now we are living in Cumming, GA (45 miles north of Atlanta). We have our passports and will be booking our excursion, Palo's, Oceaneer's Lab and Spa Reservations at the 90 day mark. We will probably stay at the Country Inn and Suites as it is the closest to the port.

Great to have you aboard! We are currently out of town, so I won't be able to add anyone to the list until I get back. I can't believe we have another Atlantan coming!

You have been officially:teacher: added to the list a few posts up. It looks like your DD11 and our DD10 will probably be seeing a lot of eachother.

HEY ATLANTA FOLKS!!!!!
We should make plans to get us all together to meet before the cruise. Let's come up with a time and place at some point.:cool1:

Hi everyone,

Question: have any of you taken advantage of the discount you can get if you book a future cruise while still onboard? I know you can do this, set a date for a cruise in the future, then change that date later. But beyond that I don't know too many details. Any info would help.

Thanks!

Brian

T-i-double-g-er and I were planning on looking into that as well. I'll tell him to check this thread and let you know what he knows.

I know that the DIS Unplugged podcast has talked about it, and I think I've heard the guys at WDWToday podcast talk about it, too. But at the time we weren't booked for the cruise so I wasn't paying enough attention. :-)

I just received my new Passporter 5th Edition for DCL, and will look there, too. I just figure that if it is a good deal and that I can pick a date and then change it later, I want to know enough about it to be able to take advantage of it.

Thank you!

Brian

Howdy everyone!

The DW and I are seriously considering Palo. Everyone raves about it, and it would be a nice evening for us. So I want to make sure I take care of that reservation on January 7th. But, I want to make sure that I make the reservation for the night that we will be assigned a second time to a restaurant (In other words, if we get Animators Pallet twice, I want to go to Palo the second night we are supposed to be there.

Does anyone know if the MyCruise site will tell us what our rotation is? Since this is only our second cruise, and the first time to have the web tools available, I don't know what we will be able to see once January 7th rolls around and we can make these reservations. MyCruise doesn't show the rotation right now.

Thanks for the help!

Brian

We did Palo's the first time for the last day and will be doing it again they same day as it will be after each other restaurant rotation. We booked Palo's on the first cruise when we boarded. Currently, we have second seating.

Thanks for your response!

In the DCL FAQ in this forum, there is a list of the "most recent" rotations.

4 day cruise
TAAP 5:30 and 8:00
APPT 5:45 and 8:15
PTTA 6:00 and 8:30

If this is really the current rotation, your plan for using the last day may mean you miss-out on one of the restaurant. Tuesday night looks to be "repeat" night, based on this list from the FAQ.

My hope is that when the online tools become available for us Castaway Club Members and we can book Palo, it will give us more details.

Take care,

Brian

This is the info we are basing our Palo night on. We have it reserved for the 3rd night.

Just stopping by to say hi and welcome to those now joining us.

We have firmed up our plans a bit more....
Fri, April 4th: depart from Louisville (still need hotel - anything good just North of Atlanta?)

Sat, April 5th: Radisson at Port

Sun, April 6th - 10th: Cruise

Thurs, April 10th - 12th: WDW Contemporary

A few other questions:
Which night is formal night?
Which night is pirate night?
Are the other 2 nights just casual?
What are your plans for Nassau? Have you been to Atlantis?

According to the Passporter Field Guide to DCL 5th Edition, semi-formal is he second night (Monday) and pirate night is the third night (Tuesday). The trick is that in most of what I have seen, the third night is also the "repeat" night which means my wife and I will probably try to book Palo that night. The other two nights (Sunday and Wednesday) are causal (the Passporter book does a nice job of suggesting guidelines for all of these "themes".)

My wife and I are hoping to get through some more reading about what to do ini Nassua. When we went on the Wonder in April 2001, our oldest was just 2, so we decided not to do a structured excursion and just walked into Nassua. It was OK, and enough for us. But this time I think we want to actually take an excursion. Just have to figure out which one. Atlantis does look very interesting; lots to do!

Take care,

Brian
