Connie, you have a year on us. We've been married 37 years. We've known each other longer because I was dating his best friend, tee hee hee. Ted just retired from being on the job 38+years.

Prayers and pixie dust for all the health issues here.

On the 2008 WBPC, Benita had a plate delivered to Cove Cafe for the Geezers. But, sadly, the young men in Cove Cafe on the WBTA did not take such good care of us.:snooty: :sad2: We can order to room and bring our own if we want or just eat the tidbits that are in the cooler in Cove. :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

YAY!!!! I thought Geezers had to be 60 and GITs 55. Well no matter, we definitely qualify since John is 61 and I'm 55. I'm looking forward to it.

Oh no! GITs are anyone who wants to learn from the pros how to grow old without growing up! :thumbsup2 Well, they do need to be at least 18 since we gather in the Cove Cafe. ;)

Chuck and I are very boring....or just maybe Midwestern.....our first date was New Year's Eve the year I was a senior in High School....New Year's Eve 1969...Chuck had just graduated the previous spring....we never dated anyone else after that....got married 3 1/2 years later in 1970......that makes 42 years together but only 38 years married.

Don't forget your pins :cheer2::cheer2:

..........

Dennis was the same with his first bypass in 1997. No symptoms, treadmill was fine. This time he had a heart attack with the chest pain, etc. My mom had classic chest/arm pain, nausea and sweating. She lives in an assisted living facility and they called me, I told them to call 911 and within 1.5 hours she had stents in place. No delay anywhere and because of the quick response of EMTs and hospital she had very little heart damage even though she was having a "massive" heart attack. We are so impressed with the International Heart Institute here. Amazing cardiac team. Anyway, she is 86 years old and all tuned up for another 86 now. This was the first time since 1957 that she had been in a hospital and she only stayed 2 nights!! :worship:

Thanks for sharing your Mom's story. I had not understood it all before. What a blessing that all the pieces fit in place so well ! How is she doing today?

(Why would they call you first instead of 911 ?)

My, we are having a rather tough time with our Dis cruisers health and retirement issues. Prayers and pixie dust for all who are facing Life struggles.....

Let us hope this cruise can be a new beginning, a healing, a reward or a celebration. (Three years cancer free for my DH). We are newlyweds, only 34 years......Based on the numbers I saw posted, we have some impressive shoes to fill.

Speaking of numbers, is everyone still here? That means none of us won the lotto.......We are not one of the 44 states that could play...Oh well...

Work beckons today so no time to play!

(I have such neat ideas for the Easter Eggs this year.....Let us suggest they will be an Aloha theme).

Ditto on health issues !! DH is also 3 years past prostate cancer. 2009 was quite a year for us.

Tell us more about the eggs and post pictures!!

Went to Jetty Park for the MV of the Fantasy. We got there around 9:30 and got a good place to park right near the rocks near the water. After we were setting up our chairs a mother , her adult daughter and the grandmother were next to us and come to find out they were from CT too. they recognized my husband from our camping club. A little while later a couple joins us and yes they too were from CT. It sure made the hours pass quickly as we talked . About an hour before the ship was to leave a violent wind and rain storm came up. We were lucky our car was right there but most of the people got very wet. Luckily it stopped before the ship came down. It has the fireboats spraying water but no little boats with kites like they had for the Dream. They were supposed to have fireworks but they did not have any. I do not think there were as many people as they expected.

Goofprincess= sorry could not see you and Lynne

I think everyone was a little disappointed. We were told some of the characters would be there but the few that we saw were on the ship.

What age qualifies you as an Official Old Geezer?

60 makes you an official Geezer. :goodvibes

Nothing boring about a first love.:love:
Don't forget your pins :cheer2::cheer2:

And Noel will be bringing pins for the new members! :yay: And for those who forget theirs I am sure. Forgetfulness is forgiven among the Geezers. :rolleyes1

Since Disney has pins for every occasion, the FOG (Federation of Geezers or was that Fraternity of Geezers :confused3 It is so hard to remember these things!) decided on the WBTA that we too should have pins. We have pins for Geezers and for GITS.
:goodvibes

My DW and I have been married for 52 years. We are both 73 years old. (Feel like a couple of kids though.) I took early retirement from my company in 2001 after 40 years. I then went back as a consultant for 5 years in 2006. Three sons, 7 grand kids, 6 great grand kids (the youngest 5 months old) This is our 11th trip on DCL and we are looking forward to many more. See you all on the cruise.

52 years ... that is so awesome :thumbsup2

Prayers to everyone that needs them. I too have been having more eye problems and go back to the neurologist next week. If I can't take this cruise I will be so so upset but if things are not worse I can deal with it and being with nice people on the cruise will be a big help.

Speaking of husbands I too have a Disney fan. He puts up with all my Disney antiics ( and now my health problems) and has the patience of a saint. This cruise we will celebrate our 45th anniversary. We went to Oahu 45 years ago ( June 24) on our honeymoon. Anxious to see how it has changed.

Going to see the big too do for the Fantasy today at the port. They expect thousands of people .They will close Jetty Parkk when it is full and then shuttle people from outer lots. We plan on going early to get into the park and get a good parking space. LOL

We first started going to Hawaii 30 years ago, if you haven't been in 45 years you will be in for quite a shock, as there have been so many changes just since we've been married :scared1:

My first trip there I remembered these cute little huts on the way to the beach, 18 months later I thought I had just imagined them, as they were non existent. It wasn't until the Internet came into existence that I finally found out I didn't dream it up. They were located where the Halekulani is now, which is the hotel right in front of the building in which we own timeshare today.

After a few rounds furloughs of lay-offs in our newspaper division (with some pretty crappy severances) our company just offered some early retirement 'buy outs' to newspaper and broadcast employees. Package is one year full pay and full benefits...I qualified and I'm jumping at it! Ran the numbers and for me, and while the figures aren't scary, I will have to come up with a bit of additional income for a while.

My plan is to give myself a six week 'sabatical', to do some house puttering and take this wonderful cruise. THEN, refreshed and relaxed I'll start creating the next stage of life! (Actually have a neighbor with a salon and gift shop who is interested in selling some of my crafts there...a very interesting possibility!) And then....there's always moving to FL and going to work for DCL booking cruises...part time...so I can TAKE some cruises :lmao:

With his lovely 2 year severance, don't be afraid to think 'outside of the box' for creating the next stage of your lives!

What kind of crafts do you do Jackie? I am interested in all crafts and spend many happy hours creating. :goodvibes

:cool1::thumbsup2 We are preplanning the first night - around 10ish, after late dining. :cool1: Hopefully at least a few of us will remember so we can make an initial meeting and get to know one another. After that, check in and see if any of us have remembered to come. I think we and Albert and Ann made it most every night on the TA. Such a great way to end the day.:woohoo::grouphug:

If you can stay up past 10pm you don't sound much like geezers to me ;)

I have just emailed the Scavenger Hunt game packs to the following people:

Please let me know if you have not received it so that I can resend.

Corinna

We got ours and I have to say that it looks fantastic :thumbsup2
I can't wait to participate. Thanks for all the time and energy you have put into making this trip special for so many people

She is doing well, thanks. Lots of followup appts of course. I am not sure why they call the family first, but it seems to be standard. :confused3

Congrats to the KU fans here. It was a great game. It's what a final 4 game should be. Good luck Monday.

Corinna - The SH packs are fantastic!!

Thank you, prayers are also sent from our part to your husband and mom :sad2:
All I can say is that I have never seen such deep fear and despair in his eyes, than the day he found out that he had this heart attack. The thing is that we really have no idea when it happen and that is what has him on edge. Approx four weeks ago, he complained that his neck was hurting (stiff) and it would just get worse, a week went by and it kept getting worse so we went to visit the doctor because of his high blood pressure and to check his neck and when the doctor checked him his pressure was sky high and he decided to do an EKG and you wouldn't know, doctor suspected a heart attack. After that came confirmations with tons of other test, MRI, brain scan, stress test, tilt table, ECO, blood test. Lord it sure was a test, but we are here, he is standing! But for sure fear is prevalent in his eyes, the fact that something so silently came to damage his heart, I think has left him also with a mental scare.

WOW, You've been through a lot lately, Sounds like this cruise is just what you both need. Wishing him a speedy recovery, both physically and mentally. :flower3:

where are you getting late night chocolate chip cookies????

That's why I love Dis friends, they care about the important stuff! ;)

Room service 24/7. You just have to have them delivered to someone's room.

Thanks :thumbsup2

I cannot seem to find the FE sheets, I have printed my group out all safe and secure, but I have a few FE kids gifts extra and would like to find some kids to give them too. Thought it may be easier now, that randomly putting them in an FE where I don't know the ages or sex of the kids. :goodvibes
I know there is a master list here, Is it located somewhere, I checked the first page??? :confused3:confused3:confused3
Thanks for any help.:flower3:

Hello All!

Just came back from a BIG shopping trip down in WA. Wow, I don't know what I have left to spend for the cruise after groceries, clothes for the kids, clothes for me and Shari.

Just wanted to let you guys know that Costco is selling 7 different types of Jamaican Jaxx Hawaiian shirts. I wanted all 7 cause they are all GREAT but only ended up buying 2. For $19.99 each I should have scooped them all.:confused3

I think kids are all set for the nice weather. Kids excited to wear new dresses/shirts/jackets etc for the cruise.

You guys and your Hawaiian shirts. I totally love them now!

This is the one I used and have kept open on my computer so I don't loose it :confused3 because my computer doesn't like the google docs. I can't print them or save them. I did same thing last night...did some gifts for kids not in our FE because I had extras from previous cruise.

We have bought Costco Hawaiian shirts in the past and they hold up really really well. :) Did you stay in Bellingham area or go further south? We live eastside of Seattle and often head to Marysville and the prime outlets and a super Wal-Mart to do our shopping...

Ah cool! Yea, we went to Seattle's Premium Outlets then hit the Costco in Burlington. Im sure the one in Marysville will have them as Costco seems to order all of the same stock.

ALSO, yes I could NOT find Purex 3-1's at the Walmart's. I was thinking of the Tide Pods then thought about what would happen if those thin little pods with the ever so fragile skin holding the liquids were to burst and instead went with the Arm and Hammer 4-1 Crytal Burst. So if the power explodes then at least it wont be as messy in a bag as a liquid.

Im thinking too much about this cruise. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
