Just off the WONDER and talked with my friend who is officer of merchandise; wrist bands will be given out so not as to repeat PC frenzy. Yeah:thumbsup2

WE were 2008 PC west bound. Great crew, great guests. Some RSP and good behaviour.

We were Maiden DREAM and oh my gosh.....what a mess....even with RSP, the shops were riots.....Ducky was besieged....Not good. Although I met some really nice guests in line.....we were the ones that voluntarily went to the back of the ship when one cast member was trying to merge two lines and a guest was about to come to blows. We had a group that played games, went back and forth for snacks and drinks. Good Fun. Line friends, a new concept.

Nothing in the shops was worth going inside -- the poor Crew.....

WE will have a nice group.....:littleangel:

I just got a post on Facebook from Disneyland page about a special Disney Spring Break promotion at Walmart. Doesn't have any apparel for adults but has a great selection for kids. They are only available at select stores or online. The link is see.walmart.com/disney/ very strange starting with see and not www but it works.
There are some things you can only order online. After some searching I found a store locator for the Disney special and was very surprised that of the stores up here (and we don't have a lot...nearest is a 30min+ drive) it was only the smaller stores and not the super Wal-Marts that have this available. Wish they had adult because there are some cute shirts....I don't even had a kid to buy for now because grandkids are adult sizes :confused3
Anyway all of you traveling with kids thought you might be interested because shirt and pj prices are great.

Honestly wrist bands will not help. It needs to be done by the RSP prossess or they need to do more than 500 for a ship that holds 2000. All wrist bands will do is identify who waited in line. Oh well I guess I need to be ready for overnights waiting for a wrist band.

It was a NIGHTMARE for sure! I felt sorry for the CM's. I felt sorry for ME. We had main dining so we didn't even realize that it was happening. After dinner, :scared1:. Never thought that was fair to the early diners.

I so agree. :thumbsup2 Wristbands will mean nothing. I'm sorry but going through what we did on the Dream you'd think they would figure it out!!! We've been on several "frist" sailings but this one took the cake.

We are spoiled living near Cocoa, want it, pack it....This time we have to travel.

Ya'll won't mind if I wear the same dress every night will ya?:lmao:

I have some many nice items I want to bring.....not enough space in the suitcases....

I am not a girly girl, so I don't own any dresses.. lol..So, I have to go do some "girl" shopping for formal night. The great thing about this cruise, is we should be able to get the post Easter sales on nice clothes. I plan on getting my boys little suites after Easter on clearance for Formal Night!:yay:

If we have to stand in line for wristbands, I guess we won't be getting any of the merch.

What they need to do is put order forms in our staterooms. We then fill them out and drop off at one of the stores or Guest Services or wherever they decide. Then you go back at a Pre determined time to pick up. It's not that hard. I think it's time for a email campaign, what do you guys think?

That's what they did on the East bound PC cruise in 2005 - it worked, if fact they had extra's you could purchase after all the orders were filled.
I think this is the best way to do it.

Hello all...DW was wondering what shows are appearing on the Wonder right now.....it has been so long since we were on the Wonder and I know that they have a lot of special shows but I know that they have the standard ones on each sailing....so if you know what they are could you please let us know....
Thanks!

:thumbsup2. Yup!!
I did it yesterday.

Went onto the Cruiseline website.
Logged in as a Castaway Club member
Copied my reservation number
Scrolled down to the bottom of the page and clicked CONTACT US
the page is all filled in with my name and address
I pasted in my reservation number
Chose an appropriate department from the drop down
And wrote my suggestions.

I suggested they have a window at one of the stores with a display of the limited merchandise, sample offer form and instructions for the procedure.

This way everyone can see the items.
Orders are written on the form which is delivered to staterooms and when they are filled, purchases are delivered to staterooms.

Extras can be sold after a predetermined time.

I suggested that limiting initial quantities would permit cruisers to buy on the ship and not after the cruise from resales on e-bay.

If your luau is in Lahaina or Kaanapalli, then allow 45 minutes to get back to the airport in Kahalui. From the airport to the ship 5 minutes, 10 max with traffic.
Thanks Linda - that will definately have an impact on my decision!
Just to clarify on the luau stuff...

Padalyn - you are signed up for the Alternate Luau that I'm organizing at the Feast at Lele.

The luau is scheduled from 6pm-9pm with our departure from Lahaina estimated at 9:15pm (giving people 15 minutes to get themselves onto the bus and the bus to get rolling)

It is a 45 minute trip back to the ship, so we should arrive by 10pm giving us a 30 minute cushion for "what-ifs."

If you want to drive your rental car to the Alternate Luau instead of taking the motorcoach, you certainly can. BUT, I would say you need to leave the luau before it is over to ensure that you can get gas, get to the airport and get back to the ship in time.

Thanks
Stephanie
OMG - you are right - gas...I forgot gas. Geez, this is getting complicated. I have to get some time to figure all of this out, I really do!

Again not trying to be agumentive but I am really hard to believe this since Cast Members don't get their discount, why would a AP? I am
Sorry this makes no sence to me.
Alan - the AP discount ONLY works for merchandise ordered online prior to the cruise. I used it to order a package to the cabin for my Nov cruise. I know for a fact that the discount applies. Sorry about the CM discount thing, but the AP works. I have used it.

We had a RSP for this cruise? I missed it entirely. Can someone send me the link so I can at least look at what was offered? i really wanted a pin and an ornament. Oh well, maybe there will be some stuff left.

thanks.
Ok - I owe this thread an apology - I posted on the wrong thread and didn't catch it until it was WAY too late to recall the post. There was NO RSP for Hawaii - as noted by others, that was for the Fantasy Maiden cruise.

I bought some hats today, and had to charge them to my card... They had to be paid for in advance.

I think the RSP was for the Fantasy maiden voyage ... not our cruise?

The rsp is for the Fantasy right .. Was there one for the Hawaiian???
Yes - for the Fantasy Maiden - I made a posting error.

Is the RSP only for Platinums?
sorry about this mess - NO RSP...sigh - I really botched this one! trying to keep 5 threads seperate will lead to errors...

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

I'm finally getting busy on this cruise. have a list of ideas for Maui & kawaii - anyone ever rent a car in either of those? we don't do tours very well and have already signed up for one on Hawaii.
I have rental cars reserved in every port - Alamo. Average cost was about 45.00 (Honolulu was the worst at 72.00 - I will get free upgrades, so it is worth it I guess - still deciding on what I am doing!)

Just off the WONDER and talked with my friend who is officer of merchandise; wrist bands will be given out so not as to repeat PC frenzy. Yeah:thumbsup2
they did this in Alaska for the first cruise - the line for the bands started at 3am. the bands worked well. I was 2nd in line with my cruisin buddy Michael being first (he has a thing about being first!) we slept in chairs, until the bands were given out at 8am. We were allowed to return during a window of time. They did not give out all of the bands for non-pin merchandise, but did give out all of them for the pins.

It was a NIGHTMARE for sure! I felt sorry for the CM's. I felt sorry for ME. We had main dining so we didn't even realize that it was happening. After dinner, :scared1:. Never thought that was fair to the early diners.
I agree- I didn't even know that some of the items were for sale...I saw the Hoodie at the debarkation breakfast! Go figure.

If we have to stand in line for wristbands, I guess we won't be getting any of the merch.
it wasn't that bad - it really wasn't. I know of people who got on line after they started giving them out and were just fine.

What they need to do is put order forms in our staterooms. We then fill them out and drop off at one of the stores or Guest Services or wherever they decide. Then you go back at a Pre determined time to pick up. It's not that hard. I think it's time for a email campaign, what do you guys think?

I have asked about this process. Douglas from the Dream told me that this isn't workable - they would need more staffing just to pull and assemble the orders, then to restock all the refused or not picked up orders. He and I had a long discussion in November about this exact process. He said there is no way that DCL will do it that way. He was unaware that the early seating had never gotten any of the merchandise, and he told me that he would take that to the Fantasy Team as a problem. When they have done it in the past, it was as problematic as the free-for-all that often happens. I was on the first WB PC cruise - yea, I was in that line. Got there at 5am and almost didn't get pins. I was number 485 or thereabouts for LE 500 pins :scared1::

DCL knows all about the merchandise issues. The RSP stuff for the Maiden voyages is handled by stateside (the pin event team to be specific) and that process is dicey. They are from different divisions and it causes all kinds of cross billing issues according to Kim. She has run many RSP's and does the whole pin event every year. She was on the Dream and saw the mess - I am SURE she had many ideas and comments about how it could have been handled.

Pre-sales closed on the 14th for the Fantasy Maiden merchandise - I missed that date :sad2: and am hoping that there will be some of the same items available onboard the Fantasy.

The specific items for Alaska - well, there was nothing for the first sailing - it was all just marked Alaska. The pins were sold out on that sailing - I am lucky to have two full sets - one for me and one I will eventually trade. I can only hope to do the same for Hawai'i!
