I am new to the DISboards and I just wanted to say hello!!! My name is Chris, from Orlando. This will be DCL trip #4 for me, third consecutive on the Wonder. Thanks Monica for getting me set up on here. Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and meeting a few new ones :D

Welcome to the DIS!!! :surfweb: Any friend of Monica is a friend of ours!!:grouphug:
:rotfl2: They roll dice in the break room, post it on the bulletin board and repeat at irregular intervals. :lmao:

Is a anyone booking the Road to Hana Picnic? What are some of the things you are doing in Mexico- that is if you are getting off the ship

We're doing the wine tasting - that local winery makes my favorite olive oil :thumbsup2 and seems like the tour was fun before.

No Looks really nice just takes up the whole day and lot's of time in the car for us. Haven't decided about Mexico yet. Might just get off the ship to get my vanilla then get back on.:confused3

I need vanilla also if I do nothing else:) Doubt if we will be the only ones doing a vanilla run....

Oh, can't do wine tasting but may check with you about the "brand" of olive oil and see if I can find it in a local store..

That cracked me up! Well, there's a reason I think our CD will be Christiaan, but I can't remember why :lmao: Anybody know someone about to take a Wonder cruise? We can have them start grilling the CMs.

A friend of mine will get on the Wonder on January 15th. I will ask her to see what she can find out for me on that score.

I am torn between the wine tasting and the tequilla tasting.

I'm having a senior moment, but the name is like Cetta... chetta?? :cool1:

I will look it up.......!!!!! I don't want to lead you astray or buy the wrong one since I love to keep it stocked at home!! I've been buying it for several yrs, so not sure why I'm blanking on it now....lol

We spoke with Christian on the Wonder last month. He was just leaving for vacation, but said he timed it just right so that he would most definitely be the CD for Hawaii in April. :thumbsup2

It was our first time to sail with him - seemed a really nice guy. :hippie:

I've done the wine tasting twice, with another line. One time is was amazing, with an awesome guide who shared historical and current info about the area, the agriculture, the views...... and they were lovely views of the countryside, fresh baked bread picked up on the way up the hill, good smells wafting through the bus, great wine....lol

Second time.... not so good..... it was an over-the-top, stereotypical guide, asking to be taken home by an "American sugar mama" He just made bad jokes, the fresh bread was not there (packaged junk in the wine shop for sale)....sigh

I'm not painting a very good picture, I know, but BOTH times we drove out of town to the winery, tasted good wines & olives & olive oil & stocked up on their oil, so my expectations are lower.. :cool1: Hoping DCL gets one of the better versions!! :wizard:

Those that have already signed up for excursions; are there any that were full or sold out for Hawaii?

Thanks bunches!!!

:cheer2:

There weren't ANY sold out when I signed up. Hope you will get what you want before boarding, but keep in mind they still hold back spaces for booking on board & have wait lists too, which you probably already have heard, but it really is true.

If you find something sold out, try to get to the Shore excursion desk as soon as possible - I think they open at 12:30, but I got in line early last time & snagged everything we wanted. Good luck with getting it beforehand though!!

I'm willing to check to see if a particular excursion is available...or what time certain excursions are if anyone wants.

We will be enjoying yet another sea day at Ensenada. Perhaps the spa will have some good port day special :goodvibesand then there is always laundry and packing to be done. :sad2:

I would also be interested in knowing the name of olive oil. I will be bringing bubble wrap with me and hope nothing breaks in the luggage.:scared1:

Once I had the pure vanilla I couldn't go back to that "other" stuff.:rotfl2:

I didn't notice any. :wizard:

I can only imagine how crowded it will be on the last day doing laundry. I will plan another day or late night. Now the spa thing I could be talked into. :)

Laundry? How is it on the ship? I have only taken 3 day cruises, this is my first long cruise:lovestruc

It's not awful...although there is sometimes a long wait for machines (especially on sea days). Jason and I do always do laundry on our longer cruises, though, so that we don't have to pack 2 weeks worth of clothes....we wear each other's clothes anyway (same size, same gender :thumbsup2) and so we usually pack one week's worth of clothes each, wash, and switch wardrobes ;)

We have had good luck with VERY late night laundry (like 1am or later).

And you operate the machines by swiping your room key in them so no change :)

I hope our CD is Christiaan. He has been CD on our previous Wonder cruises and we love him! He dances!!

:rotfl2:
thanks for the input!!! I wish I could do that it would make it easier but I like the room key option no quarters.

I have an 8 who loves his blankets and every once in a while they need to be washed, like when they are left on the beach....

Something to look forward too, laudry on vacation. I will see you at 1 am in the laundry room :laundy:

on etsy there is a seller that sells a basic fish extender for $15.99 nothing fancy like the $40 ones on ebay or etsy but she suggests you can add your own bling and make it your own.

I love this option because I can't sew but I can glue on crystals and make it special without spending $40

Let me know if you need more info

I consider one of the biggest perks of my vacation is not doing laundry...we send real necessities to ship laundry to be done but I bring enough undies etc to last the whole cruise :-)
Laundry prices are not bad compared to picture costs !!
