my brother has a shuffle and he loves it! even "blinged" it out by gluing on rhinestones.

yeah...don't ask.

our mother is the black sheep...she has a pink iPod mini...and my brother just bought her the iPod shuffle (actually - he bought it in early January - it JUST shipped out today)

My dh just got me a mini-ipod (pink of course :Pinkbounc ). Figures that they are going down in price and have better batteries now. I have two weeks to get a price adjustment, etc (2/26). I wonder if the price of the mini is going down?

Just called the apple store in my mall and spoke to a nice guy - told him I just received this as a gift valentines day, and the purchase day was 2/12. He said I can either come in and get a $50 refund, or exchange my 4 gig for the new 6 gig mini which will hold 200 more songs and the battery has 18 hour life instead of an 8 hour life . :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc YEAH!! The only thing is I have to do it today and we have snow coming, so I have to go straight from work.

I agree with Chad. You can do a lot better than an ipod for a better price. I have a Gmini by Arcos. It plays MP3's, stores photos, and plays movies. Yes, that's right, movies. Right now, I've got the entire God Father trilogy loaded.

that's a DEAL though...I'd do that! better battery and more space? heck ya!

drive safe!

With an iPod, you get a player that is the same as every other player except for two differences:

1. It plays AAC files which are like WMA but technically better;
2. It has the style.

2 is the big point and whether or not it's a good thing is debatable.

For me, I have a mini and couldn't care less :)

List the stores that use AAC DRM...

Now list the stores that use WMA DRM ;)

yup - they're already holding a brand new pink one for me to get in just a few hours! The guy told me the colors are more vibrant now.

Upon last market report, AAC held 80% of the online music store market.

We call it iTunes ;)

I'm sorry, it's 70%.

Napster have 11;

MusicMatch, RealNetworks and Wal-Mart each reached a 6% share.

SO, AAC = 70%, RM = 6%, leaving WMA (if that's what they use) with 24%, just over a third of what the single iTunes store has alone.

It's like Red Sox fans vs. Yankee fans.

iPod users vs. the "other" mp3 players on the market.

heheheh

Sadly very true. I love my iPod, but I can't see the market as being rational when the usual attitude is "iPod or nothing".

Well, I went to Best Buy and returned the old style iPod mini I bought two weeks ago. I then went to the Apple store and bought the new style iPod mini. $50 less and increased battery life was just too good to pass up. The one thing that's a bit disappointing about it is the new one doesn't come with the charger that you can plug into a wall. I decided to skip buying that for now but will probably buy one for $29 some time down the road, as I travel frequently, and don't always have access to a computer to charge it through.
